We've finally decided on when to head to WDW this year--the last week of October. Booked the hotel. Thing is, what to do on Halloween? Any ideas? We're planning on the Halloween party earlier in the week in hopes it will be less crowded. Does Disney do anything else on Halloween for kids? We can do the Halloween party on Halloween, we did MVMCP when it was sold out and it wasn't that bad, but Halloween is a little different with trick-or-treating. Ideas anyone?

I think they have trick or treating at the DTD stores. I haven't been in for a few years now, so I can't remember. We did the Halloween party on Halloween once - it was pretty crowded, but not Christmas crowded.

Does anyone know what they max the parties out at for both Christmas and Halloween, for comparison sake?

We went for Halloween one year & it was gerat - we went to the Boardwalk - there is a big party & trick or treating & a Meet & greet with some characters. My girls LOVED it!

Oh cool - we'll be there that week ourselves, and have plans for MNSSH another night. I read out DTD stuff earlier today - but this is good to know too, if they still do it. :thumbsup2

MNSSHP on Halloween was awesome the year we did it, not extremely crowded at all, but that was a looooong time ago. Not sure how crowds have increased since then, as it was a year after 9/11.

Our resort had some wonderful CMs who gave the kids treats all during the day (POR).

Where are you staying? We are staying at the Fort and were told that they are having all kinds of activities for Halloween. Not sure if it is only for Fort Guests or not...

For the past couple years, we've been in WDW for Halloween. We always do the Halloween party on Halloween night. It always seems to be busy in the walkways getting to rides, but the rides had very short lines. It's like all the people were standing around? We usually watch the 2nd parade, and really after the fireworks, the park clears out. We rode Splash Mountain about 5 times in a row one year without ever getting out of our boat. There was just no line when we came to get off.

There are activities in the resorts. Pool parties, trick or treating, etc. I also have heard that they do things at DTD, but we've never been, and that may get crowded as well, since it's a free place for locals to trick or treat.

Hope this helps. Just wanted to give you an idea of the Halloween party on Halloween night. If we were going this year in Oct, we wouldn't hesitate to attend on Halloween night again. (On a side note, the 1st year in 2 or so that we were actually home for Halloween, my kids were so bummed at the end of the night. They decided it was terribly boring being home for Halloween!)

We're going to be at the Poly. I know that Fort Wilderness does the Haunted Hay Ride, but I'm more concerned with Trick or Treating. My kids LOVE Halloween and would be so disappointed if they didn't do some kind of trick-or-treating.

Thank you so much!! This helps. I just have no idea what to do ON Halloween. We've been to the Christmas party on a sold out night, and didn't really find it unbearably crowded, but with actually having certain places to trick-or-treat, I wasn't sure how'd that effect things. Or if they possibly sold more tickets for the Halloween party since Halloween day would be a big draw for locals, especially with Halloween this year being on a Friday.

The trick-or-treat lines are sometimes a little long. I've never waited more than a few minutes, though. They seem to keep them moving. The first year we went, we were the last party and I guess they were told to get rid of the candy. There were two Asian young women in front of us who didn't speak much english. They held out their tiny trick-or-treat bags, and the candy people pointed to their HUGE shopping bag that had a t-shirt in it. Out came the t-shirt and in went tons of candy. Those 2 women were giggling as they walked away. So funny. Also, if you wait to trick-or-treat at the end of the night not only are the lines a lot less, but you won't be carrying all that candy all night. Plus they give out candy during the parade to the people sitting on the sides.

Last year, they had Halloween parties into the beginning of November (the 1st and 2nd I think). Since Halloween is on a Friday this year, I'll bet they have a party on Saturday too.

From what I've heard, there is a higher number let in on Halloween night, but it still wasn't bad. We've done it 3 or 4 times and would still always do it on Halloween night if we were there. There's nothing else there that will say Halloween as much as that party on 10/31.

If you decide to go ON Halloween, purchase your tickets in May. Especially since it's on a Friday, they'll sell out quick.
