So I made my own t-shirts, but...

I used those iron-on transfers, and the instructions said pull straight off if you wanted shiny, and leave on until cool if you wanted matte, or vice versa, I forget. I'm not sure if mine were right because I ironed them on, but it wasn't like the parchment paper overlay actually stuck to anything. Did I do something wrong? I peeled the back off the design, laid it on the shirt, laid the paper over it, ironed, then the paper was just laying on it. The paper that had the design on it is now fully sealed to the shirt.

I thought for a moment that I was supposed to peel the design off the shirt and there would be ink underneath, but they are stuck on there well and good, so I don't think I'm supposed to do that.

I'm just puzzled because the instructions said to peel off the paper using even, gentle pressure and there didn't seem to be anything to peel. :confused3

Halp!

I'd leave it alone and hope for the best in the wash. It sounds like is is on the shirt correctly.

You need to peel the paper off VERY carefully. Honestly, about 1-2 minutes after it's ironed on is the easiest time to peel it. It's really hard to peel it off when it's cool, but it can be done.

But there was nothing to peel off... the parchment paper was never affixed to the image, and the image itself had like, melted to the shirt. I don't think there's any way I could have peeled it off. It would have been like peeling off the design on any shirt you'd buy at Disney, or Wal-Mart, or anywhere... :confused3

I should add that I used colored transfer paper because I'd heard it worked better...

Oh, okay, not sure about the colored transfer paper. I've only used the white transfer paper.

On a dark transfer, which it sounds like you used, you print the design onto the paper. Peel the backing off the transfer paper, place the transfer on the shirt, then take your ironing tissue, place it over the design and press firmly. The ironing tissue is used so you do not melt the transfer paper. It sound like you did it right. Once on the shirt, you are not going to get it off, without ruining the shirt.

Amy,

It sounds to me like you got it right. I think maybe those directions are for the transparent transfers.

You should post a picture of your shirts. We'd love to see them!
