and sent an email to my Travel Agent and asked to switch us from the Wilderness Lodge to the All Star Sports for our trip in August 2010. We can swing the Wilderness Lodge but staying at a value saves us at least $1100!!! That's almost another trip!!! With DH not getting a raise this year, I'm not getting a raise in 2010 and our yearly bonuses up in the air...I just felt it was more financially responsible to save the $1100....we are just BLESSED to have both of us still employed so I figured why "push" it when we didn't have to...I mean we'll still be going to Disney Just thought my Budget Board friends would be proud!

Good decision ~ we stayed at POP last month but visited the Monorail resorts. We didn't make it over to Wilderness Lodge though ~ we'll have to check it out next time. All we did was shower, sleep & get ready for the day in our room.

We are also a *Love Deluxe Resorts* family that has been loving the value of Value resorts this year for exactly the reasons you stated. We stayed at POP this past June (with the 4/3 promo) and loved it (better than our stays at 2 different mods). We were able to book another trip for this Dec (with a Free Dining Pin) and stay at POP (with tickets, dining and room) for under 2K. We were originally booked for WL in Dec...but that HUGE savings between Deluxe and Value is just to tough to overlook right now.

Thanks ya'll!!! Now just waiting to hear back from Travel Agent to see if we can get a Value...but I'm sure we can....it feels good to have made the decision!

We stayed at POP Labor Day 2008 and loved it! But DS wants to stay at the ASSports because he LOVES and plays baseball year round....I'll let ya'll know what we end up getting!

We LOVE ASSp and that includes me and my 3 not into sports daughters. We have stayed at all the All Stars and while we love them all, Sports is our favorite. WL is beautiful, but we go over to have dinner and look around then go back to our more affordable vacation.

We LOVE AllStar Sports, and we're DVC members!

The best part is that it's the first stop in the morning, and often at night they will split the AllStars up into 3 busses. Plus, they put new mattresses in in 2008 and they're great!

My thought is when you go to disney world you are mostly in the parks anyway a hotel is just a place to sleep. I know I get in about midnight and sleep till about 6 a.m then I am up and out to the parks. We are staying at POP this year.

For last Christmas I had booked the Contemporary with a theme-park view. It would have been the first time we'd stayed there, and I was excited but didn't tell the kids (thankfully). DH is an autoworker, and come July, he was out of a job. I waffled back & forth what to do, but it ended up that the Contemporary would cost us about $3000 more than a stay at POP, so I changed resorts. I was very upset at first, but once we got there and got settled back into "our" resort, it didn't matter. It was Christmas, we were at WDW, the kids were thrilled, and I saved 3 grand! It's not the place you stay, it's what you make of it.

Planning the vacation early is the key to save money on airplane tickets. A round-trip tickets that generally costs a thousand dollars may sell for two hundred dollars on a few specific dates in a years. Happy holiday...!
