And ended up with a $10 credit - (which then increased to a $20 credit) - in my Amazon "account" by the time I got done talking to them..(Neither of which I asked for..)

Prior to this whole "book" episode, I had ordered 2 three-packs of an OTC medication that I have to take daily or my life will be complete misery.. It's something I've been taking for a year and a half - solved my problems 100%..

On my last trip to the drug store, I grabbed the last 2 boxes on the shelf.. Got back here, opened the first box to take one and was surprised that it was now a capsule - rather than a tablet.. Went ahead and took it, and in 24 to 48 hours started having some serious problems.. At first I didn't make the connection, but the problem dragged on until I was down to the last pill.. That day DD was coming up with one of my scripts from the dr.'s office and called from the pharmacy to see if I needed anything else.. Checked to make sure I had a second box of the OTC and told her no.. Then for some reason, I flipped over the box from the capsules and compared it to the second unopened box (which turned out to be tablets) and guess what? All kinds of different active ingredients - (one had been increased 6 and a half times more than the tablet form); one active ingredient removed and replaced with something else; and a whole slew of "other" ingredients (food colorings; sweeteners; various other items) that also were not in the tablet form..:headache:

Called the manufacturer - yep - changed the ingredients (nothing on the box indicating that though - no "New and Improved Formula" - nothing).. Worse yet, I was told that they were no longer going to make this in tablet form - only the capsules and whatever tablets were left "out there" was the end of the road..:(

So I quick jumped on Amazon - found they had some of the tablets left and placed an order.. I had them shipped to DD's house though since I have enough of the tablets up here to last me until I go back there..

Well - guess what they sent? Yup - capsules!! :headache: (I've been fine since I switched back over to the tablets..)

So I went online and requested a replacement - rather than a return - since I can't find the tablets anywhere else.. Everything was going smoothly until I got to the part where there was a bar code and something else that I was supposed to print out and put inside the box (when UPS picks it up at DD's tomorrow) so I won't get charged for the replacement (no shipping slip or anything else in the box), but obviously I'm here and the box is down there.. Found a section where I could plug in my phone number and they would call me back in 5 minutes.. (And by staying logged in, I could watch the minutes ticking down..)

Sure enough, phone rings in 5 minutes - and it's someone who can barely speak English..:headache: He's asking me questions that I can't understand, I'm asking him questions that he can't understand, I ask for a supervisor, and he shouts something or another and hangs up on me!!!!!

Went through the whole process again - and this time I got a very, very pleasant woman (who speaks English).. We got thing whole thing straightened out with how the items can be shipped back (she made some kind of notation on her end so DD doesn't have to put any paperwork in the box); she straightened out the new order for the tablets; and told me that UPS would be bringing a label to DD's house tomorrow and all she has to do is stick it on the box and hand it back to him.. Very nice and very helpful..:)

However, I was still ticked off about that guy yelling at me - and hanging up on me - and I told her I would like it reported to a supervisor.. She was very, very apologetic - said that she would make a note of it - and due to my bad experience with this rep she was going to put a $10 credit in my account to be used the next time I made a purchase..

At that point I told her that I didn't know that I would be placing additional orders with them due to this "book" scenario and again, she was very, very apologetic - said their goal was to provide excellent customer service - and was increasing the credit in my account to $20.. I told her it wasn't necessary - because I really hadn't made up my mind if I was going to continue to order from them and she said that "just in case", the $20credit is there and she hopes that I'll reconsider doing business with them..

She was so pleasant, I really didn't know what to say or do, so I just thanked her for being so helpful in straightening out my order, told her to have a nice day, and hung up..

So - here I sit with a $20 credit for a company I'm not sure how I feel about..

At this point, the only real goal I have is to get my hands on that 6-month supply of tablets before they disappear!!!:eek:

Amazon is known for its fabulous customer service, so I would definitely follow up on the hangerupper. Maybe email them with a factual account including time and his name? I'm not surprised about them "comping" you, sounds like them:). I hope you give them another chance.

And I know what you mean about discontinued medicine. How frustrating!

Terri

I don't know about the guy who yelled and hung up but I find that Amazon generally has great customer service. As for the book, they pulled it and what else can they do now?

I hope that you find the tablets.

I'm confused. You are going to do business with them again, but you did this time. Why would next time be different? :confused3
Did you check drugstore.com for those tablets? I've used them before and they are very good to deal with.

I love Amazon and have no issues using them despite the whole book fiasco.

I've been looking for Almay True Color face powder. I can't seem to find it anywhere. I did a search the other night and found it on Amazon. They must buyout discontinued drug store items.

BTW- what's the shelf life like on the meds. I'll be happy to check stores here for them and ship them to you.

Of course I'm "doing business with them again" - the money has already come out of my bank account for the wrong product - that was ordered the beginning of Nov. and just arrived yesterday.. The only "business" I'm doing is trying to get the product that I actually ordered - and has already been paid for..:confused3

From the box I'm currently using (which was probably among the last lot that they put out of the tablets) the expiration date is May of 2013..

I'm pretty sure I checked drugstore.com - back before I placed the order with Amazon - and all I saw was the capsules..

Not sure why they have to "fix things that aren't broken".. The company said they had been fielding many calls from people who had serious issues with the new formula in the capsule form..
:headache:

I agree. I hate when companies change things that just don't need to be changed! Especially if they are changing the formula so much.

If you'd like me to check around for you, let me know. :)

I have been a loyal Amazon customer since day one. Their customer service and quick delivery is top notch, especially among "E-tailers". Sorry you had a bad experience.

I've always had good experiences with them in the past as well - :thumbsup2 - been using them for a long, long time..:goodvibes

However, I can't even begin to tell you how important it is that I have the correct medication for this particular problem - and honestly, I'm not surprised that someone packed "capsules" rather than "tablets" - you really have to look hard at the box to notice that they changed it (which is how I ended up with one of each at my own pharmacy).. I wasn't angry about that - just needed it corrected since I had already paid for it and I really need the correct medication - but that guy I talked to the first time around? Yeah - that's when I started spitting fire!!

But - I made sure that I was calm, cool, collected, and very, very polite when the second call came through.. She was a very pleasant woman and I would never take out my anger on her..:goodvibes

Of course now I'll be on pins and needles waiting for the replacement to arrive - wondering if someone is going to put capsules in there again rather than tablets.. Maybe I should include that in my nightly prayers until the package arrives..;)

Is the "book fiasco" a codeword for that pro-childlove book that was available for a few weeks until it was pulled earlier this week?

C.ANN, do you or someone close to you own a smartphone? They have several barcode scanners you can download, and I was thinking you could scan the barcode of the tablets you want to find and it will tell you where you can find them. They also show you where the best prices are. Just a suggestion, in case you want to stock up.

Last time I needed help from a customer service rep I found a 'rate my performance & did I answer your question' email from amazon a few minutes after we had finished. Perhaps they sent you a follow-up email also?

I really hope that they can get those for you. Since they already had stock of the ones you don't want, I would beg you to temper your excitement, though...from what I remember about working with the fulfillment center people, they are generally working so hard and so fast that it's hard to convince them to slow down and really check it out.

I would suggest looking at drugstore.com as well.

Order as many children's books that $20 will buy & donate them to the local homeless shelter.

No - unfortunately, I don't..

Just checked my email and guess what? There was one there from the very nice lady that helped me - but nothing from the man who was rude, shouted at me, and then hung up on me... Hmmmm.. I wonder why??? :rolleyes1

Well then I'll just keep sending it back - and they can keep giving me credits for people who aren't paying attention to what they're doing..

Order as many children's books that $20 will buy & donate them to the local homeless shelter.

Not a bad idea..:thumbsup2

Meanwhile, I'll just keep scouring the internet to see if anyone else has the tablets left..:goodvibes
