So I am new to this whole Emerald Aisle thing...

and need to know how it works. From my understanding, after I get my luggage I proceed straight to the EA. The keys will be in the car and I just hop in and hand my license and credit card to the guy in the booth. Correct?

Will intermediates be the only car I can choose from or can I choose anything that Emerald Aisle has? This is where my biggest confusion is.

There should be full sizes tucked in and around. We had a brand new Impala last time we went. It was great!

If you reserve an intermediate off the Aisle, then you proceed to the Aisle and select any vehicle that is there. Reports have been that at times, there are only intermediates, other times some full size, perhaps PT Cruisers, even an SUV or two. If you need a size other than intermediate, you should reserve that specific size from Emerald Reserve. This works the same way, but you go to the specific aisle for that type of car and select any one.

We did Reserve in December for a minivan and it was incredibly easy to bypass the counter and pick the style that worked best for us. This time, we'll only be 4 people (had DM with us last time) and we're currently doing the Aisle. However, with the difference to a full size only $10 for the week, I may just do that so I don't have to worry.

Thanks for the answers. I reserved an intermediate and that size will be fine with us if that is all they have. If we end up with something bigger we'll just call it good luck.

In January, we used the Emerald Aisle with an intermediate reserved (there were just 2 of us). When you approach the National area in the parking garage, there will be an attendant there to point you to the correct direction. Proceed to the proper aisle and select your car. We opened and checked out several vehicles (making sure it wasn't smoky or smelly) before picking an SUV in the color of choice. Just load of the car, start it and drive to the booth. Be sure to have any coupons, the reservation slip, your National card, your drivers license ready and you will be fine!
