So how many DVC'ers "wing it" as far as planning/activites go for their trips?

Here is what we do before we go:
- Print the park hours calendars to include EMH.
- Print the best days to visit each park information.
- Book ADRs in advance.

Once we get there, we:
- Decide what do to each day based on the 'best days' and ADRs.

So, you can say we do a bit of planning but are not tied to a definite schedule.

With DVC, we tend to enjoy the 'World' outside the parks more.

We decide on meals based on where we want to be that day, but we don't make a touring plan for each park.

I love planning but I have to say...for our Nov. trip to SSR and OKW.....it is looking more and more like a WING IT TRIP. :rotfl: We arrive Thursday night Nov. 20th and depart Thanksgiving night. We only have 3 TS meals planned this week.....and we are only going to MK/EC I think. I am really not concerned either. :rotfl: We were at WDW for 2 weeks in July and I really don't want to be tied down to TS ressies during this crowded time. I also don't plan on fighting my way through crowds. I want this trip to be slower paced. SO I am curious.....since becoming DVC members do you feel you plan more or wing it more??? I am actually READY FOR LESS IS MORE. :cool1:

Haven't read all the responses, but we're the wing-it types. Sure, we'll say we want to do this or that, but until we get there we don't really have a plan.

Tour Guide Mickey??? That is soo cute!!:rotfl:

Hi! I'll try & answer for you, although, I only know a little bit about "Tour Guide MIKE" from what my friend (who happens to be the OP) has told me.

TGM is a business run by Mike. You can subscribe to his vacation recommendations. He was a former castmember (I believe?) & he studies the traffic flow in the parks & recommends which park to do on which day.

Tour Guide Mike actually sponsors the "Theme Parks Attractions Strategies" Forum on the DIS. For about $20 you can subscribe to the service. It is run by a former CM who conducted private tours for big bucks for WDW. There is advice on park days, ADRS, and MUCH MUCH MORE. There is also a forum, like the DIS, but smaller. Some people complain that it is not worth the money, but I think that comes from people who know a lot about Disney already. I took my first trip in June and found the advice invaluable. I would never travel without it, but the best part is that the site teaches you how to tour and why you tour in a certain way.

I now am a new DVC owner and am planning my first trip back "home". It is too early to say whether or not my planning will become less structured, but time will tell. I can already tell with this trip that I am not going to be too worried if I "miss" something because we will be returning the next summer. That is the joy of owning the "magic" until 2057!

I can't wait to be able to wing it!!!! I am a newbie to DVC and have planned and planned each trip we have taken. I think that we will always plan ADRs though like another one said, I cannot eat at CS each meal that would kill me and I like eating well.
