So, how good is Flame Tree Barbecue?

I'm not a big meat eater, but I love Flame Tree for the fruit plate. They give you a large amount of fruit with dipping yogurt. It's absolutely refreshing on a hot day. I wish they had a similar option at more CS places.

That fruit plate sounds good too. I will have to try it! Ummm, my mouth is watering...

LOVE Flametree BBQ. The ribs are a dry-rub, which I love, but there is also a yummy sweet sauce to dunk in. Only once have I found them fatty. They are usually very tender and meaty. The cornbread is almost a dessert; it's absolutely delicious. Some don't like the beans but I do; they have a nice smoke flavor. I think it's one of the better counter service restaurants, along with Sunshine Seasons at Epcot and CHH at MK.

We LOVE it:lovestruc It's the best CS in WDW in my opinion. My DH and I shared the 1/2 rack of ribs and 1/2 chicken. With that much food we definately had our fill. I would highly recommend it. :lovestruc

If you live in an area which is known for real BBQ, then you might be let down just a bit by Flame Tree. It's good, but not great.

If boiled/grilled/sauced meat (which is not real BBQ) is what you get when you go to a "BBQ" restaurant at home, then you are in for a treat at FT.

How good?
Its acceptable. Not necessarily great, or even good, but certainly OK.

Yeah, I know...faint praise.

FLAME TREE YUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYY:lovestruc

The chicken is soooo good. I can't ever make myself eat anywhere else at AK!

We love Flame Tree. Family likes the pork bbq & i love the turkey sandwich. We never miss it!

We love Flame Tree as well. The onion rings are awesome, the fruit salad is also very good. Seating and views are wonderful.

Another plus for us is that is is one of the few CS restaurants on the DDE (now: Tables in Wonderland)

We didn't like it. DH had the ribs and I had the pork sandwich. Both tasted dry even with sauce added, as if the meat sat for too long or something, dry and chewy. We didn't like the beans either.

However, we're going to try it again when we go back later this month. Everyone else seems to love it, so it's getting a second chance.

Ditto for the fish and chips at Epcot's UK pavilion. Those come so highly recommended but we didn't like them at all. I'm going to have to give them another try.

I think it's my favorite cs meal in all the parks. I adore fruit. Since I'm usually having a big breakfast on vacation, the fruit plate is a perfect lunch.

We really like Flame Tree. I'm not big on ribs but DH had them and really enjoyed them. Their sandwiches are good, too. Also, cornbread muffins - yum. My favorite is their fruite plate. You get a large serving of different types of fruit and delicious honey-yogurt to go with it. It's a nice change from the typical counter service meals that you can find everywhere else.

For what it's worth, we also ate at Yak and Yeti and thoroughly enjoyed it. You could always just split a couple of appetizers and a dessert to save a litttle.

Dh and I love it. We eat there every trip. The food is good. However last Feb we did notice they cut down on the quantity some but not the qualitiy.

We loved this place for several reasons. The ribs are perfectly seasoned and "fall off the bone good". The 1/2 chicken was also very good. However my husband and I couldn't finish our meals the first time we went, because there is so much, that the other times we went we ended up splitting the entree to make it more manage able. If you are very hungry though you might want to go for your own dish though.
The seating is beautiful and separated into different terraces on different levels and with the thick trees you are having a nice quiet meal away from the crowds. We like sitting at the terrace that overlooks Everest.

I hated it and refuse to eat there again, but my dh and kids thought it was okay. I heard so many good reports about Flame Tree but I thought the food was gross and the massive flocks of birds and the poo they leave behind doesn't really get my mouth watering. :rotfl:

I love their salad with chicken, they do a great job of mixing it all together instead of just dumping chicken on the top. Perfect on a hot day!
I love that salad too. I also enjoy the pork sandwich. Haven't tried the ribs before, but plan to try them one of these times. :thumbsup2 Flame Tree is a favorite place of mine when at AK. Love the seating by the river too.

I like Flame Tree, but LOVE the Yak and Yeti counter service (I can't remember what it's called, but it's by Yak and Yeti). We get the shrimp lo mein--YUM! It's the same food as inside, you just don't pay the price.

We're also in the minority here. Not sure if it's because we expected too much from all the stellar reviews or because we have some pretty good barbeque places at home.

The lines looked pretty short and we were there towards the end of "lunch time," but it took forever to order and get our food (it was the longest amount of time we've ever waited in line at a CS). We both got the barbeque beef sandwich with a side of beans. The bottom buns on both of our sandwiches were soggy and my baked beans were undercooked and crunchy while DH's were gummy - everything was cold. :cold: The only thing we kind of enjoyed were the prepackaged desserts.

Hope your experience is better than ours was.
