So How Bad Is Easter????

Hi everyone!

Just had to let you all know that we've been back now for 2 months and suffering SERIOUS withdrawal symptons!!

Can anyone advise on when I will stop thinking about Orlando and do something constructive here - like paying off my credit card that was well used out there in October??!!!

Anyway, we're thinking of an Easter 06 trip - we cant take the kids out of school - so just how bad (crowd-wise) would it be compared to our October trip?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Sorry Lorraine can't help you with Easter crowds as we've only ever been in October but I can tell you from personal experience that you won't be able to carry out any normal functions until you have at least booked the next trip

We were there this past spring break for 2 weeks prior to Easter. The first week was nice, and then (the week before Easter) the parks were a madhouse!!!! I know that the MK closed a few days during that week. We never did ride Space Mountain because the lines were 90+ minutes long and fast passes were gone!!!

If you are a frequent visitor, you might not mind so much because you can always skip the bigger attractions and see them on your next trip - but, if you don't have an opportunity to go that much, you may want to rethink the Easter visit.

We went last Easter and had a great time.

It was our first trip so we didn't have anything to compare it to, but by getting to the parks before opening we were among the first in and got all the main rides done, although it was VERY busy latter.In fact with the 10-day ticket we saw just about everything that Disney had to offer.

So if you're preparred to get up early I'd say give it a go, however if you can't get to the parks early and don't like crowds it might be better to choose another time.

Getting to the parks early wont be a problem - we were at every park before opening when we went in October. And my kids will be 12 and 9, so we wont have toddlers fighting through the crowds.

We now know which rides we could skip and which ones are "must do's" so that might make things easier.

Oh, decisions, decisions!

We'll give it some more thought!

I will never go at Easter again. We have been three times at Easter but the last time we went it was so awful we vowed never to do it again. The parks were closed on several days as they were at capacity. We always arrive at the parks for opening and make good use of FP but even that wasn't good enough last time. I believe that according to statistics Easter is the second busiest time of the year, after Christmas.
We now go in August and although the weather is really hot and humid the crowds are only about half that of the Easter crowds.

We have been three times at Easter, the last time being this year, and we have never been any other time so I cannot compare it to anything. I can confirm that it is very busy but the plus side is the parks stay open really late so you do get your money's worth. Even though there are lots of crowds, you still manage to get seats in shows and you get loads of atmosphere! I can't imagine visiting half-full parks - it must lack a lot of atmosphere even if you are not being jostled everywhere! Weather-wise it is just right for me, low to high 80s with the occasional thunderstorm. In conclusion, I think it's a good time to go!

Agree with Sandie and Daniel. We were there last Easter (2004) and did everything we wanted to. We didn't find the queues were a problem because there is so much imagineering to look at while you're queueing. Although it was also our first trip and we have nothing to compare it to, we would definitely go back again at Easter (planning to at Easter 2007!) The weather was perfect without being too hot or too humid (only one day of rain!) and the parks were open late every night so we were able to pace ourselves and see the fireworks more than once!!!

We always go at Easter and again in October. Yes Easter is busier but not unpleasant. Weather is nice at Easter with less chance of rain -only one shower in 3 weeks this year. We tend to stay away from the parks on the actual holidays and do something else but when in the parks haven't found it too bad and certainly not at the point where we wouldnt' go back! October is much less busy and so possibly more relaxing and less stressed but everything closes earlier - however better for getting into shows etc and for just passing something interesting and joining in. No porblems at eitehr time with getting tables for meals.

We have been three times - all at Easter time. Weather is usually great - not too hot, nor too wet. Can get very busy, but we get up early and get the popular rides done early and use Fastpasses. We tend to avoid the parks over the Easter weekend and use the time to do other things e.g. airboat rides, visit Winter Park, do shopping, go to a basketball game etc

Thanks for starting this thread! We're going this Easter but as we fly back Easter Sunday I hoped we'd miss most of the crowds. I'll make sure I save our shopping etc. for Good Friday and the Saturday - is Kennedy also busy around Easter?

I don't think you can ever "do" all of Disney in one trip - the most you can hope for is to do most of the things you really want to do. We plan to take in all the shows - lets face it, they're included in the admission and as we know from experience are fantastic to watch AND you get to sit down for a bit without feeling you're missing anything!

The advice about getting there early is good. Also younger son is too small for the big rides (and too travel sick and/or wussy for some of the others) so we can get 2 fastpasses at once and DH and older son can do two different rides on the trot (and we wusses don't have to wait too long for them).

Disney is more than just rides - if you're always hurring on to tick something off the list you miss all the extra magic.

We all went in easter 2002, 2 days after Bank Holiday Monday. It was busy but not that bad. It is one of the most popular places on eart remember. Plus, we were talking to this American guy and he said that as our schools in the uk break up and have 2 weeks off after the actual easter sunday, theirs are going back. Their Easter Sunday is at the end of the 2 weeks whereas our is normally at the start.

Good god that sounds confusing typed out.

We fly into Orlando on Easter Saturday. We are not going to any of the parks on Easter Sunday. We are hoping that it starts to get quieter after that. Fingers crossed.

we go at easter and it is great! the weather is the best, flowers are all blooming and it is not normally too crowded . it was so empty one day that we just went round and round on TOT in the normal line, although it was the evening. :thewave:

We've been at Easter and the parks were very busy - last few years we've gone end June/July and Easter is busier than then (apart from 4/7).

Although busy with good planning it's not a problem - usual turn up early and do major rides.

The weather was fantastic - last time we were there it didn't rain at all and temperature was in 80s.

The major downside for us is that because kids only get 2 weeks at Easter and everywhere in UK tends to get the same 2 weeks the chances of picking up a decent deal on flights is low - same applies for Christmas.

We are going at Easter again (for the fourth time). We have found that by flying out on a Weds or Thurs rather than a Fri or Sat, that you can get cheaper flights (scheduled). We were amazed at the difference.

We fly out on 13/3 - we found we saved £600+ by doing that rather than waiting til the 16/3 or later. For the first time ever we're taking our kids out of school for a few days - last chance before eldest goes to secondary school.

We're flying back on Easter Sunday, so I've booked a late Chef Mickey breakfast - we may go to whichever park is our favourite first (this is our first trip to Florida so I can't say yet what it will be!) as I think we'll have one day left on our pass, otherwise we'll hang round DTD until its time to drop the hire car off.

Hoping for nice weather (not too hot) and not too busy for at least some of the time, but plan to take max advantage of EMH
