I'm thinking if we get the new house of wallpapering our bedroom. Okay I am not very talented in painting...made a mess actually the last time we painted a room...but we did put up wallpaper boarder and it turned out really good in our last house. So how hard is it to wallpaper a complete room? Lowes has some gorgeous designs and the cost is very good too. Any advice?

Do it without furniture, without kids, and without husbands.

Seriously, the hardest part for me is making it neat around the baseboards. Do yourself a favor and find a border for the top edge. Don't stop and start; stop and start. Get a block of time and just do it.

It's really not that hard. It takes a while, but not as long as 2 coats of paint. I agree that it's easiest if you don't just cover the whole wall with the same paper. Either put a border at the top, or go half way up and top it with a border or chair rail.

Another question...you have to know I'm really challenged at things like this....are most wallpapers self sticking now without the glue that you used to have to roll onto it? I am planning on doing a boarder. The paper I want is a royal blue victorian look and the boarder is in a gold and dark maroon. Can you tell I like Victorian? The furniture is very dark cherry wood.

I've done it and it's not too tough of a job, just time consuming. If you are interested and if you have a local wallpaper store they might know someone who hangs paper, there is a woman nera me who will do it for 15.00 per double roll. I think that's a very reasonable price to have it done for you by a professional.

Wow that is a very reasonable price. I will definatly check into it as I would much rather have someone do it professionally. I could screw up a glass of water.

Just about all the wall paper is prepasted now. All you have to do is roll it up, submerge it in water for a specified amount of time (around 60-90 seconds), then "book" it. Booking is folding it over, pasted sides touching, to make sure the paste is distributed well. Then you start at the bottom and smooth it on.
