so HD tv

We have it. We have direct tv. I personally only watch NFL football in HD. My husband will watch pretty much anything so he watches alot in HD when he is home. It is worth it to him, not really to me. We also have the seven in one surround sound, and I will be getting him an HD DVD player for Fathers day just because he is hard to buy for. I hear they are coming out with more HD tv on Direct tv but not sure when.

Yes, it's worth it.

We've been watching a lot of Planet Earth and it is amazing. Dh also likes to watch a lot of sports in HD. I'd rather not see John Madden in HD but that's just my opinion. :lmao: I think the only thing we have an issue with is CBS Sports. We haven't had much luck with their HD.

While not exact, these images present a good analog to what the difference is between regular television (SD) and HDTV.

This is SD:

Ignore the dark bar across the middle of the screen -- human eyes wouldn't see it.

This is the same scene in HD:

Look how much clearer everything is, including the score information. It makes the SD image look like the screen is coated with goo.

Now that's for a video game, but the difference with television broadcasts is the same.
