Yesterday at work I heard two very odd things....

One gal almost had to call the cops because Obama supporters were "rioting" outside her apartment. When I asked her what they were doing, she said they were outside banging pots and pans!

:scared1:

Another gal quite honestly thinks the end days are near. She and her husband are going all over town stocking up on guns and ammo!

Anyone else hearing these types of things?

Oh yes! I have the joy of living in a county that went 69% to McCain. Family memeber have sent texts stating that this is the end of the world because it is in the book of Revelations. The local farm show grounds have signs with his face spray painted with big red x's. I have hears that the :black are now going to take over and get revenge". I could go on and on. It is really sad.

I was in the airport in NC yesterday (Charlotte). I overheard much. Not one single thing was positive.

There are many people out there who are not happy with Barack Obama as president.

Too bad for them. :confused3

Those are the same people that said "Bill Clinton isn't MY president!"

And then turned around and told us

"You have to respect George W. Bush because he's president of the United States. It doesn't matter whether you voted for him or not, the office commands respect."

Interestingly enough, people who have said both things, aren't happy with you when you point out their obvious hypocrisy. :confused3

Yep. I'm going to get very comfortable with people not being happy with me.

I'm over it. So over it, I'm slipping back into a mode that I once thought I had under complete control

Mary Daly. Remember her? If you don't, have a Google. She was my idol ...

Tell me I'm not equal? Deal with it? Yes, and that's not going to involve appeasing anyone who doesn't like the fact that I'm lesbian and in a long term relationship. Done.

I haven't heard anything weird, but Obama won in my county and I haven't been anywhere other than the grocery store, the preschool, etc. since the election.

There was a story BEFORE the election about people rushing out to buy assault rifles in case they are banned in the future, but it wasn't a specific recommendation to do so. :confused3

How stupid is that?

We've had Democratic presidents before and guns weren't banned.

Honestly, I'm amazed and how freaking idiotic people can be.

Well, you know, better to stock up now than be caught without an assault rifle when you need one. :rolleyes1 This IS Texas.

I must say, I did love the fact that Dallas County went Democratic! :teeth:

Small glimmers, eh?

I know. I used to live in Dallas, remember. And I own a hand gun (well, TECHNICALLY, I own it, but it's currently in Mom's nightstand in Lubbock because Scott refuses to let me have a firearm in the house  )

But even so. What a silly knee-jerk reaction to a democratic victory.

I could probably do more damage swinging a gun around over my head than I could actually shooting with it, so I don't have one. At one point I was thinking about getting a permit to carry a concealed handgun and learning to use the gun appropriately, but that was just a phase.
DH used to go to the firing range on occasion, but he hasn't been in ages. He has a handgun and some hunting rifles.

Some of the people on the news were buying them in speculation of a ban that would drive the values way up. I would throttle DH if he bought an assault rifle as an investment.

never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.

or as a general rule, just don't ever trust the south

Southerners are kind, respectful, and well-spoken.

Until you turn your back.

Trust me. Yankees can do some mighty stupid things, too.

It's people in general, not just those who are born in a geographical region.

Well Boston is palpably Giddy.
And on election night you could hear people cheering all over the neighborhood.

:wave2: Bye-bye Bushy!
Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Have to agree Rob, ignorance is not limited to a geographical area.

Having lived in the northeast for most of my life, I can firmly state that there are intolerant and hateful people there too.

yes, well 83% of the people who voted for prop 8 were church goers. The bible belt is in the south and if there's any area of the country that is as anti-progressive as you can get, it's the bible belt.

Buying guns and ammo?! That's horrifying! I'm really scared of guns :sad2:

All is well here in NYC. Then again, fireworks were going off after Obama was elected, the city was so relieved!
