Ok so this was going to be my first time booking, and I am trying to get a 2 bedroom std view BLT for mid October. I looked tonight (since the week I need becomes available tomorrow) and most of the nights I need are already booked :sad2: Is there any chance at getting a week at BLT 2 bedroom std if I waitlist? I knew it was going to be busy but this is crazy! Are people just walking reservations?? This seems so stressful :headache:

Do you own BLT? Resorts and room categories that save points are always in high demand.

As I have posted before, I don't like playing the game, I did it for awhile and it finally hit me that we were paying thousands of dollars for the contract and dues and thousands more for the vacations and we were hoping to get to stay where we wanted?

We finally bit the bullet and bought where we wanted to stay but a new problem happened, we didn't stay at the different resorts enough to make an informed decision of which were our true favorites.

Now we own 6 resorts but we always get the resort and room category that we want, when we want it. :goodvibes

Yes, we bought at BLT because we wanted to stay there. But already with our first stay we will have to borrow points from 2015 to stay in the Lake View. I was going to log in at exactly 8am tomorrow when my booking window opened, but I'm so disappointed. Do that many people walk their reservations? I just want a lower point room so we can go 1-2x per year... perhaps I should have bought SSR since we don't care too much where we stay at.

I just didn't really want the headache to walk a reservation every time we want to make a reservation... doesn't seem quite right.

If you purchased direct from Disney you should ask for help from your guide. I understand that they can pull a few strings to help new owners with the first reservation.

Beyond that, my advice is to never plan on booking the least expensive room category. Have enough points to book the category with the highest number of rooms. (Is that lake-view for BLT?)

Edited to add: I know the waitlist can be unnerving -- but I can report great success using it! If needed, try the waitlist!

Sad to hear, 11 months out and rooms are booked? I wonder if there is an issue with the booking software or if DVC or the resort has blocked out some of the rooms?

We typically don't go during Oct but that was the only times our friends could make it...

What if we make reservations for two studios and wait list the 2 bedroom? How does that work... would it cancel our two studios for the one single room (which is what I would want)?

We own at BLT and just went in October so I booked at this time last year. I wanted a 2 bedroom dedicated standard view. I booked exactly at 11 months when the online system opened and couldn't get the dedicated as the first night was gone so I took the lock-off and then WL the dedicated. My WL came through within less than a week.

On a side note we are going in August next year and needed a 2 bedroom standard lock-off and booked exactly at 11 months at 8 am and got the room with no problems. Actually I was looking for some other reservations yesterday and checked again to see if the standard 2 bedroom was still available for August and it was.

I would try the WL, I think your chances are good.

Good Luck!

I'm not sure how this works. Are the studios available? If so, 2 standard studios would be cheaper than a 2 bedroom......just sayin'.

My advice to you would be to book what you can and waitlist the other nights. You are allowed only 2 waitlists at a time but if you stalk the members site you may be able to find one or more of those nights and book them yourself. The waitlist is very specific and will look for exactly what you need. You will have better luck with waitlisting single nights. The good news is that you have 11 months to fill it. You could also find availability at another resort at 7 months or even do a split stay.

I guess I was pretty lucky last week when I was able to book my standard 2 bedroom at BLT for the 4th. Maybe you're having problems because of Columbus Day?

Good luck!!

We would like the 2 bedroom over the studios (LV) b/c there will be 3 very young kids and it would be much easier to hang out with our friends in the 2 bedroom. And that's also why we won't be able to do split stay... 3 kids under 4.

I will book LV and try the wait list tomorrow since that's when we can ask for our specific days. I just wasn't sure how likely it would come through but it gives me hope that others came through so soon.

The strange thing was that both the std and lock-off were booked solid only until Wed. I think that's what's frustrating me the most. I do have a little bit of wiggle room in my dates... so we'll see!

I would certainly book the 2 bedroom LV and waitlist the standard then.

I don't think our weeks are the same (we are booked for Oct 4 - 11) but I am pretty sure we will be moving that reservation to OKW at 7 months.
I'll be making somebody happy in about 4 months. ;)

Best of luck!!

I think that you may be lucky using the wait lists.

BWV standard studios were gone right away for the beginning of October next year. Those lower point options go quickly.

As far as walking...for whatever reason a BWV standard studio was unavailable for December 28 the at 11 months, but became available 2 days later. I suppose someone was walking.

OP, sorry to hear that, but understand. I also own at both BLT and BWV so I can use the home advantage to book those standard rooms. Yes, during October, holidays, and early December, those rooms are often gone even when your window opens. Sometimes you have only seconds to get that room when the window does open. I will be booking (or trying to book) the hard to get BWV studio standard next week and find it to be very stressful. Good luck!! Keep in mind that if it's not there at 8:00, keep an eye on it at 9:00 because folks who might be walking it, have to call MS at 9:00 to drop their day, which could result in your reservation openning. If your first day is gone, try again tomorrow and book the remainder of your stay and waitlist for your first day, you would have better luck getting that one day vs a week waitlisting.

I'll be trying for BWV std studio tomorrow! Hopeful !

Did you get it? I logged on at 8:15AM this morning and saw the first day was gone. Knew you were trying, so was curious. I get the task of trying next week.....

Wait!! If you borrow your 2015 points for the lake view and then the waitlist comes through for the standard view which would take less points, you can't put those points back into 2015. You need to make sure you get 2014 points back so you can bank them and then remember you can't bank them again.

Please Bobbi, Bill or anyone else who has already responded, do I have this right?

I'm curious too because like you I was on about 8:15 and Oct. 13 was gone. Same thing happened Oct. 1 and 5. In all my years of owning I've always been able to book std view at 11 months. Something strange is going on this year.

I wait listed my week this morning, but plan in booking LV. I will just bank 2014 pts into 2015 if my wait lost comes thru. I know I can't put 2015 points back once borrowed, but I don't want to lose out on LV too. Maybe I will book one less day with LV so I don't have to borrow.

Unfortuntately, no. I was on right @ 8am & the 13th was already gone. Yikes! I guess buy where you want to stay & have enough points for next room level. Booked BW view & waitlisted for standard. My travel dates are flexible so I am going to try again tomorrow. Is it this crazy trying to change resorts @ 7 month window?....it would make me crazy ! Lol

I'm sorry to hear that....you should continue to try later today in case someone walked that day, plus you could try again tomorrow morning. I know you were probably like me and just sat there in front of the computer saying noooooooooo :sad:

I was pretty surprised. Guess, I have an idea what it will be like when I book next trip for December (we are FL residents). Have had good luck stalking website in the past but home resort advantage work with me here!
