So Frustrated! Lost & Found rant!

So people who speak the truth and say things in email as they would to a persons face should be nicer in discussion forums? If I was in a long discussion as this was with someone I had not met except for this conversation I would have the same feeling and reaction. Why do we as a society traet people like fragile glass to spare their feelings. Though most people here feel bad for the OP that should not keep us from saying what we feel. Being mean spirited is not acceptable, but I haven't seem anyone enjoying the fact her items are gone. That is mean spirited. Gaining pleasure from the OP's loss.

What you said may be the "truth" in your eyes, but that's your perspective and reality according to you.

It sucks you left the things in the locker and they are not there. Although, it is not Disney's fault that they cannot find the lost items. Most amusement parks probably would not even care to have a huge lost and found like Disney does.

Also, why were the CM unsympathetic? Is it because the OP did not get the response the OP wanted to hear? Somebody else might have thought the CM's were doing everything they can.

I do hope they find the items you left behind.

I called Amy this afternoon and spoke to her, told her the issue. She was very nice. She said she'd go have a look at Lost & Found and call me back later. She just called back a few mins ago and said she didn't find my items. She said she's not sure if they're going to show up or not, because they should have shown up by now. She tried to look up the "lost items" report I filled up on Nov 17, but couldn't find it! They lost my report! hmmm. :sad2: She typed up another one for me. She has let the locker manager at the MK know about this issue and he will get in touch with me she told me. I'm not too impressed. I still don't know what's happening.

Why are you so ready to believe that a CM stole your stuff? It is entirely possible that it is lost! Not too hard to imagine when you think of all of the stuff people loose or forget on any given day at the parks. Most likely you were not the only one to leave something in the lockers that day. It may be mixed up with some other items. Who knows? I used to work at a store that had layaway. And stuff got lost all the time, even though it had a package number, and went into a numbered bin. Stuff gets lost!

You comment that you are not impressed. What more can they do, other than replace the items that you left behind? They are trying! No one has hung up on you and told you tough, too bad for you. What else do you want?

I wonder if, by chance, when a key is not returned (which I am sure happens all the time) they pull out a spare and rent the locker? They do with ECV's, that is why there is a $5.00 deposit returned when the key is turned back in. If so, and if a CM did not check ALL lockers that night, maybe a new renter (and one not quite so honest) found a bonus when they went to use it the next day? I hope not, but it would explain why the "stuff" never turned up. :confused3

I guess I thought there is enough cynicism in the world, I was expecting more pixie dustpixiedust: than sawdust.

I would bet OP's purchase is in a mound of other lost items that are not very well organized. Without any identification with the bag, it will be difficult to distinguish from any other Disney package. I would be frustrated knowing they had no record of any inquiry I had made.

Well Little Flounder,

It's been awhile. Any new updates?

It's been awhile. Any new updates?

I really don't have any updates.

On Thurs Nov 29 I received a phone message from a Magic Kingdom 'Area Manager' who had been informed of my issue. I was instructed to call the Guest Claims Department for "assistance with compensation" for my lost items. I called and filed a claim on Fri Nov 30. I was told I would get a call back in 5 to 7 days. It has now been 12 days (8 if you're counting business days), so I am calling back tomorrow(Dec 13) to find out what is happening.

Its now been one month, less 3 days since these things were lost/misplaced... I hope this is resolved soon.

We rented a locker September 21 at MK and when we opened it up, it was full. There were clothes, baby items, food, and electronics in the locker. I unloaded all the stuff and took it to the CM. He seemed shocked, took the items and placed them in a bag and started to fill out some paperwork.

If we had been different people, we would have had a new camera much nicer than the one we already own. That experience has changed my view of the lockers and locker management.

I think it is worthwhile to point out that it is not unreasonable to expect that Disney would abide by their internal guidelines. In no way have you suggested that it was Disney's fault that the items got into the "Lost and Found" system. You have recognized your contribution to this process, but Disney does have a protocol, and you expected it to be followed.

While Disney doesn't "owe" anything to a person who overstays their contractual time on the locker, Little Flounder did nothing illegal or evil. She did not break any laws nor behave in an immoral fashion. Disney has played a role in this debacle. They have either ignored company policy to clean out the lockers and then rented the space to someone who was willing to take what did not belong to them, or a CM did not place the items into the proper chain of custody, or while in the proper route towards, or in, Lost and Found the items were lost or given to unscrupulous people.

Given my experience there just two months before your unfortunate loss, I would hazard a guess that they did not clean out the locker and simply rented it to someone who lacked moral fiber. I am sorry for your loss, and for the tone of incivility which has been inflicted upon you here.

Have you investigated your credit cards purchase protections? Many cards will cover all types of loss including forgetfulness or theft.

Good luck! It sounds somewhat promising. Our fingers are crossed for you! :wizard:
