You know, I just can't take this nonsense anymore. Not sure if you saw it, but I posted about some outdoor electrcal problems we have been having. Well, it did not occur to me to check the outlets in the garage as well. There are 4 total in the garage, 2 of which are on the same cicuit as the non-working outdoor outlets. Guess what was plugged into one of those 2 bad outlets? Our FREEZER! Now we lost all the meat we had in the freezer - at least $100 worth. I am so frustrated, I can't stop crying.

On top of this electrical issue, our garbage disposal stopped working, 2 of our windows leak and one room of carpet was ruined, and the contractors put a wooden fence up next door and one of our sprinkler heads is now on the other side of the fence!!! I am beginning to be so sorry that we bought a home with this company, which is supposed to be one of the top-rated in Florida.

When is it all going to stop? Calgon take me far, far away!

Awww, that stinks! I'm sorry!

Hugs for you! :grouphug:

And some PD for you!** ** ** ** ** ** :wizard:

Is this your first home? Because whether your house is new or old the problems never end, that is just the name of a game. A house is the black hole of sucking up money.

Great, now you tell me!;) ;) ;) LOL

All of this nonsense should be covered by our warranty since the house is new-construction and only been lived in for about 6 weeks now. It's just nearly impossible to get someone out here to fix anything!:( :(

I hope all starts working out better for you

I am very sorry to hear about all this!! :( I hope things start to get better for you!!

I don't usually defend builders but seeing as your in hurricane alley, it might be that they are busy with people with much larger problems. If not have the lawyer you used for your closing give them a call. Every new home has a warranty with a "reasonable" amount of time to be fixed. But I know how frustrating it can be, soon after my father died my mom moved into a new place and sure enough the first day it rained water came pouring in the house. Upset was not a strong enough word. And Kallison is right get used to it.

I can help on the garbage disposal thing- there is a tiny reset button on the bottom (usually) of it and you should be able to press that to get it working again as long as something did not gum up the works too bad. give it a try!

I will tell you what I have done, but I am not advocating it as with your bad luck you may lose a finger! I make sure the power to it is off and I make sure the inside of the thing is clear and then I press the reset button and turn it on and it usually works again- even when there has been glass in it. My DH just told me about it last year so for the last 20 years I have thought it was done forwhen it stopped!

I hope I got that much done for you. Sorry about the freezer.

Thanks Microcell, but, been there, done that. I was even on the phone with the manufacturer of the disposal forever trying all different things with no luck. They seem to think it is a wiring problem now. It is hard-wired in and the circuit pops when you turn it on.

We did manage to get an electrician to come out on Monday to check the electrical stuff - I am sending the bill to the builders since it is waaaay past their 2-3 days turnaround for service.

I feel sort-of better after talking to my neighbor. We have only had about 5 or 6 problems, whereas he has had over 30 - and he has only lived there for about 2 weeks.

I would send your builder a letter stating your problems and a date you would like to hear back. We have had a leak in our home since we built 5 yrs ago and the builder blames it on the window company and the window company blames it on the builder and I have nothing in writing to back up all the contacts and meetings so now we will just have to pay out of pocket to have the entire front of the house re-sided to hopefully fix the leak; this has been going on since we built in 1999.
I would also make them reimburse me the cost of the freezer contents if it turns out to be a problem with the wiring. Not sure if they will do it if you couldn't find a gfci to reset.:(

Check your survey and make sure the fence is not over the property line!!! If the fence is in the proper place then the builder or sprinkler installer should move your sprinkler head.

And, unfortunately, everyone is right, you will probably find more issues with the house! sorry.

That's the first thing I did when we realized the problem...and their fence is EXACTLY on the property line, no more/no less. Plus, the sprinkler is about another 6 inches beyond the fence - the landscapers really screwed up. They just need to fix it and soon, I hope.
