I LOVE the photos you guys posted under the food photos...they made me all excited about the food that we'll get to enjoy.

Then I went to Mikestourguide.com and well, the restaurant reviews are not so nice.

I would like one signature dinner meal for my family, whether that be an artist point type of meal, or a show. I wanted to try Coral Reef, but the reviews stunk. What would you do for your signature meal?

What about Cinderellas palace? I have a 22 yr old daughter and a 10 yr old boy...would he be mortified to go?

I guess what I'm asking is this...SOMEONE TELL ME WHICH RESTAURANTS TO EAT AT! LOL!

I have been messing with this for a week and need to get my ADR's out asap..I go in September!

Oh btw, we are celebrating my birthday and my sons birthday..which places do the most hoopla, esp for my son :bday:

I will kiss all of your pixie dust to help me out!!

My family enjoyed California Grille as our signature meal. We timed it so that we could watch Wishes. The food was very good, and we all enjoyed the atmosphere.

As to the negative reviews, I got so confused last year when trying to choose ADR's for my family. I followed the sage advice on this board to check out the menus, and plan for the food that my family would enjoy. There are so many opinios, and it really depends on individual taste. I don't know how to post links, but all of the menus are posted at allearsnet.com. There are alos reviews of teh restaurants on this site, and I found them to be helpful, also.

Good luck. :wizard:

here are a few i think ive narrowed down.

Remember we will be there for 8 dinners and 8 counter services on the dining plan :)

I have

Ohana's
the 50's prime time diner (for the show)
LeCellier at Epcot
Rainforest Cafe at AK

I'll be in MK 2 days, but only need to eat on sit down meal there and 2 counters, Epcot x2, MGM x1 and AK x1. 2-3 meals anywhere we want (one being ohana's)

I'm tempted to do Artist Point with just my hubby and let my kids stay at the hotel and eat CS meals at POR. If not then what really nice or fun place should we not miss. I really really wanted to go to Coral Reef for Lobster and sharks :) but the reviews seem to be elstinko!

With a 10 year old boy, I might be inclined to do the Hoop Dee Doo Review for you "signature" meal (although it's not really signature food!!). The show is funny and you will all have a good time--especially the 10 year old.

If you don't want a show but are truly interested in a dining experience, California Grill is supposed to be wonderful (thought I have not been). I can definitely vouch for Artist Point--EXCELLENT.

I would probably avoid the CRT with a 22 year old and a 10 year old boy. While they would probably enjoy it, I wouldn't say that they are the "target" audience for that. Plus, the reviews for CRT are SO "all over the place" I probably wouldn't risk it. I've been there many years ago and enjoyed it, but I am seeing WAY too many bad reviews these days.

There are lots of good places to eat. Yep, there are bad reviews too. I try to look at the reviews overall and if a place does have OVERWHELMINGLY bad reviews, I will not go. Even if it is 50/50 good-to-bad reviews, I might try it.

So, are you more into "fun" dining, or is food quality a big factor for you? It makes a difference.

a mix of both i guess. Some nights I'd like "nice" while others i think should be fun. Mostly yummy tho is most important LOL :)

Did you say where you are staying??? Sometimes I like to eat outside the park and at certain resorts, which may be just a short ride away....so it might help us to know if you are willing to take a short ride to get to another restaurant..

I like Kona Cafe for lunch.
I love Citrico's for dinner.
I have not done Chef Mickey's but people like it with children.

I love eating at Alfredo's for dinner, the entertainment is a blast.
Teppanyaki for lunch is always fun since the chefs usually entertain with their cooking.

What about trying to eat dinner at an Epcot restaurant that has a view of the fireworks and time it accordingly. England comes to mind here.

Also please note that Rainforest Cafe is not on the dining plan. If you want to eat there and pay OOP, I would recommend it as we always have liked it.

For your signature meal, I would do California Grill in time for Wishes or Hoop Dee Doo. California grill would be nice for your 22 year old and your son would like it too (my 10 y.o. loved her steak). Plus the view of Wishes is interesting. If you want a signature restaurant for food, this is where I would go. If you want a signature experience for the experience and not the food, I would pick Hoop Dee Doo. The food there is just ok (fried chicken, ribs, strawberry shortcake, etc.), but the show is something you should at least experience once. Your 10 y.o. should find it really funny. We saw it maybe 3 years ago, and the kids, DH and I often break out a joke from the show when appropriate.

DH and I loved 'Ohanas but the kids do not want to go back. I guess they didn't enjoy the food much. They didn't hate it and said they would go there again if we wanted, but it wouldn't be their first choice.

LeCellier is GREAT! We haven't been there in a couple years since we like to try new restaurants every trip, but I would go back in a heartbeat. My steak was really good and the cheese soup was good too.

We haven't been to Prime Time because my family doesn't like that kind of experience, so can't really comment on that one.

Your son might like Sci Fi. We have always gone for lunch (this is one restaurant we repeat because not much else at MGM we care for) and enjoyed it. I really like the steak sandwich.

You don't have a character meal listed. But I think your son would enjoy Chef Mickeys. I have heard bad reviews for the dinner, but have never been to dinner. We enjoy the breakfast though. This is one place my younger DD always wants to visit. The characters hear are the classics: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale.

In EPCOT, we also like to "Eat around the world". We will stop at each country and get one CS meal and all share. Then move on to the next country, get one meal and share. ETC. So we get a taste of everything. Some places we may just get a dessert, though - like France and Norway. DH usually is the only one who eats in Morocco, except for the desserts which I eat!!

I hope this helps a little. I agree with the above poster that says you will hear bad reviews and good reviews about ALL places. I mainly look at the menus and pick what MY family would enjoy. I also like to look at the food picture thread, because that really helps see what the food is like and it helped me pick places.

We are only spending one day at MGM and are hitting up the show package so i think 50's prime time is the best bet.

Bummer on Rainforest Cafe. I had planned that on Animal kingdom day :(

What else do you recommend for epcot other than what i have up there? I dont mind resort hopping if needed to get to a good dinner that ISNT signature rated. Any of the regular dining meals have lobster? My son wants that for his birthday meal lol.

I am staying at POR :)

We really like Rose and Crown at Epcot.

Other favorites of ours where we have had consistantly good meals are: Yachtsman Steakhouse, Flying Fish, Boma, Jiko, Spoodles, Kona Cafe, Grand Flordian Cafe, Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch), Cape May Cafe (breakfast), Casey's Corner and Beaches and Cream.

Yachtsman Steakhouse has a lobster tail that is pretty good. Going there as your signature meal would be an excellent choice.
