So few kids

I never said you were not allowed to complain. I merely stated my dislike of all young adults being lumped in the same disposable income category. I even agree with you that some families are being priced out. But SOME are not ALL. Stop generalizing if you please.
Like I’ve said before, the discussion began b/c a pp said young adults WITH a lot of disposable income. Not all young adults. So if you (collective) don’t have disposable income that that’s not who he was talking about.

I think anytime you're purchasing more of something it feels like a bigger deal. Whether that's if your party is larger or if you're staying longer the price of Genie+ will feel like a bigger decision. We have four kids and six park days but decided not to get park hopper so we could do Genie+ instead. I definitely think the $15 feels like a bigger deal when you're multiplying it either for more days or people.

to be honest with you, we've always got the park hopper, with the park hours last summer, i'm not sure its worth it anymore. so maybe we'll skip the park hoppers and get genie plus next time. good way to not spend more than you already were.

Weird observation but we were at Disney this past weekend and there was a distinct lack of children there. My husband and I looked around and felt like the only family there. Now we went to Disney before and after we had kids so I'm not judging but it was very noticeable this trip. We went to mk, Hollywood and Epcot.
Follow the $$$$$$

Well, it's also not a school break time and one of the least busy times of year tradiitonally, so that may have something to do with it.
I'm guessing this is the main reason. MY sister was just down middle of December and there were a lot of families in the backgrounds of her photos. Parents are probably less inclined to pull kids out of school right now with them having missed so much in person that they are hitting it up more during off periods from schools.

My daughter turned 2 and won’t wear a mask AT ALL. (I’ve tried but she has sensory issues and language delays so she doesn’t understand.) So, we can’t go for a while. I’m not debating masks, but maybe that is why some families with 2-3 year olds can’t/won’t go.

Target demographics have moved from families to young urban professionals with lots of disposable income.
Exactly this. Which I think is teribly sad.
We don't go very often but when we do I've noticed its the same (or dare i say worse?) in the west coast parks. The crowds are drastically different than they have been in the past when my kids were young (they are in their late teens/early twenties now). I miss seeing the joy on the faces of the littles. And God forbid you do something to get in the way of one of the diehards (not saying that all adults are).....:duck:

I’m here now, and there are kids of all ages everywhere. Maybe the winter storm caused people to rush down here, but I’ve been bubble-wanded silly on a daily basis.

That's what we are doing for our December trip. Normally I always get park hoppers, but realized we don't really need them. So we dropped them and got Genie+ for all days plus a budget for ILL.

So expect to see 2 Disney adults with no kids in December! And honestly, I see nothing wrong about Disney adding stuff and experiences that focus on non kids. More and more people are deciding not to have children or at least ar putting it off until later. Disney has realized that this is a market that they should be targeting which is a great business decision. I hope they do more.

Right and there are TONS of places adults can go. Not as many places for families. Not saying that adults shouldn’t go, but it literally was designed for families b/c Walt couldn’t find places to spend time with his family of young children. And I don’t care who goes, just saying don’t make it so cumbersome for ppl with young children.

It’s actually really hard to go to the parks with little ones now.

my 2 year old wants to walk on her own but can’t because adults run her over. People are annoyed she’s not moving fast enough in queues. I never realize how much people hate children until I had one of my own.

We always get park hoppers however even though normally our strategy is to park hop in the afternoon I really dislike a 2pm time requirement. Sometimes we would park hop at like 11:30 or noon, sometimes not til 1 or 2 sometimes not til 3 or 4 (back in 2017 we utilized both morning and evening EMH and prior to 2017 we just park hopped whenever). So it's this can't go until 2pm that does suck. Even then I can't see us not purchasing park hopping because I hate to feel constrained to 1 park, it's one of the only things we pay extra for.

It was designed for all to go, the young, the old, the kid at heart and the literal kid. Besides Walt has been dead for decades, I normally don't comment when people talk about Walt would think/did/made/etc but seriously some things need to stop being spoken about. It's 2022, it's been open for more than 50 years, times change, get on with it...or don't..your choice.

You do have a point with that. I think it goes both on that one. There are enough times parents let their young ones roam unattended, sometimes those parents get seriously upset at other people when an incident occurs. I think the issue might be the queues are not the best place to allow that, many twists, turns, most using just a chain (so a young child can easily get away), some are very dark queues, etc. It's as much as safety hazard there. But there def. places where kids should be able to walk around, closely monitored by their parent/guardian to have fun without creating a safety risk.

I've been behind touring groups that let their kids walk around and it's usually not a huge deal but when the kid doesn't move for a while and you're not trying to interfere it puts you in an awkward position of "do I say something nice and sweet to the young child?" "do I not?". Then there are queues where you are told to fill all the space and timing can get really messed up like HM. When we were in DLR in 2019 I remember the cast members getting quite annoyed at guests who wouldn't keep moving and yet were complaining about the length of time in line. Adults are capable of slowing down queues too but a young child adds in they can trip, fall, get lost by running ahead or falling back behind, etc.

This is one of the reasons I am very happy about the Toon Town makeover at Disneyland. It will have places were kids can run around without issues.

The thing is, strollers are not allowed in queues. And she’s never in a ride like haunted mansion.. we’re strictly in fantasyland, etc. for rides … always age appropriate stuff. What I’m talking about is maybe she stops and awes at something in the little mermaid queue for 5/6 seconds and people behind us are freaking out. I always tell them to go around… but it’s not like she’s in line for big thunder or soarin. I think toddlers should have a little bit of wiggle room in the areas that are primarily for them. Kids have a right to enjoy disney world just as much as adults do.

Obviously you can’t let your kids just run wild… I would never allow that. I spend the entire time making sure she’s right next to me, trying to avoid others.. etc and I still experience a lot of disdain from other guests simply for my daughter taking in the experience and not speed walking to the next attraction.

But, in this case, it’s relevant b/c the problem still exists. So it doesn’t matter how long ago it was or how long Walt has been dead. There were/are not many places designed for families then & now. As a PARENT, Walt recognized this & wanted a place he could spend time with his CHILDREN. Doesn’t mean adults can’t go. But, it also doesn’t mean some of us can’t be disappointed that it’s turning into yet another place that’s for mostly adults. Ppl with families might just move on as you suggest. Not sure that’s a good long term plan for wdw.

Some ppl just suck, unfortunately some of them go to Disney. As long as your kid is with you I don't see a problem with waiting tbh, it's not like dozens of ppl will get in line in front of me if I wait for a toddler to admire something. Everyone will be in the same order anyways. Ppl can be really ridiculous sometimes.

One of my favorite parts of watching something like a Parade for example is seeing the kids get all excited over Buzz saying to them or a princess waving. It's just so cute.
