We bought a new bedroom set today....I wanted a new mattress so we went shopping...and bought a new bedroom set with plans to put it in our guest bedroom when we buy a house in a year or two... I am so excited and happy that my DBF talked me out of the King size bed I had my mind set on buying....I will find a pic or link and put it in here...

So what size bed do you have in your master bedroom?
When is the last time you bought a bedroom suite?

We have a King size bed in our master bedroom. DH is 6'3" and neither of us are "petite" so it's just more comfortable for us. When we first moved into the house, we had a Queen bed, which was OK. About 10 years ago we redid our upstairs and moved the master bedroom up there which is when we got the new furniture. The Queen set we actually gave to one of the carpenters working on our house who had just bought his own new house. We had bought the Queen set used when we first married, so we paid like $250 for it, & had had it for 10 years...it didn't owe us anything and I was glad to find someone who could get it out of my house without it being a big hassle for us.

DH & I have been married for 30 years. We went to Ethan Allen back in 1980 to buy our entire bedroom set. (Not sure if EA is even still in business.) We bought a queen size bed. Every 5-8 years we would buy brand new mattresses. As we would travel on vacation, we would always select a king room. And we loved the size of the king bed. Our EA set was beautiful and costly so we were not going to change it just because we wanted a bigger bed.

We moved to SoCal in July '08. (We still have our Boston home.) So we bought all new furniture for our new CA home and we bought a king bed and we are just thrilled with it.

OP, I surprised your DBF talked you out of buying a king bed? :confused3

We have a king size set.... hate it when we're in a Q in hotels! We bought our bedroom set around 6 years ago - bought it from a couple who downsized homes, their new house was too small for the set, our bedroom is HUGE and the set fit perfectly! King bed, 2 marble top nightstands, armoire, marble top triple dresser, and tall dresser. We saved a TON of money by buying it like we did - 75% less than we would have paid at a furniture store.

We have a solid cherry furniture set with a king bed. I got the set from my parents almost 15 years ago. It is great furniture and still looks nice.

We just bought one last August. King sized, DH is 6'3" so a queen just was not cutting it any longer. Especially with 2 dogs who wanted to share the bed.

You know, Dh and I are not tall or big people but we have a king sized bed and love it. We often have one if not four kids in our bed so the king sized bed is good for us for this very reason! Its not uncommon for all of us to pile in bed to read the sunday paper or watch a movie.

Thankfully last year we finally upgraded to a queen size BR set and redecorated our master bedroom :goodvibes. DH is 6'2" & I'm 5'2", up until then we had been sleeping on a xlong full size antique maple set for 45 years :lmao:! We're snugglers, he does not like it when we travel and on occassion have king size beds, as he jokes he feels like
I'm lost in another state . Like most of you, our adult kids all have kings and love them! :)

We bought our first house in Oct, and then upgraded from a Full to a Queen. Love it! No way DH would ever go for a King. He hates it when we have one in a hotel room. He complains he has to chase me around the bed. I prefer to have my space when I sleep. But we don't have bedroom furniture yet. I bought the set for our bedroom 4.5 years ago. It lives in Florida, in my parent's guest room. We are going to ship it to our home in CO in Oct. What furniture would you possibly buy 4.5 years before you own a room to keep it in, and what furniture would you send from Florida?

It's the furniture that used to be in the rooms in the Wilderness Lodge! Bed, dresser, lamps, table, chairs, patio furniture, comforter, curtain, mirror, artwork, and most importantly the TV cabinet. And all for $450.

We have a king and sometimes that even feels to small. I can't believe we used to sleep in a queen when we first got married. We updated our bedroom a couple of years ago.

We have two twins pushed together to make a king but it's just not as long as a king.

We do not have a bedroom set at all. We are hoping to get a new bed and a new set this summer.

This is my bedroom story:

DH begged and begged for a new mattress. I didn't see the point, our old mattress was fine to me, and I hate (hatehatehate) spending money on things we don't need (Disney trips, of course, we need). Regardless, he insisted he wasn't sleeping well. Then he brought me a mattress sale advertisement and I knew he was serious. So I said fine, we can get a new mattress. We went to the store, tried out a bunch of them, and made a decision.

DH convinced me to buy a queen sized mattress set. Convinced because I really didn't see the need to move up from our current full size and, worse, I knew it meant we would have to buy a new bed frame. "But you really liked that frame we saw at IKEA!" he insisted. Yes, I liked it, and we had decided that we couldn't buy it because it was too expensive. Well, fine, time for a trip to IKEA.

We go to IKEA and the only bed I like is the expensive one I saw before. Sighing in defeat, I take out my credit card and pay for the item. We load several large boxes into our car and drive home.

Upon getting home we realize that the only way we'd be able to put together our new bed would be by removing everything from our bedroom and building the thing inside. "Hey!" said DH, "You know, this would be a perfect time to paint the bedroom!" Sadly he is right. So, we go to Home Depot and I pick out the paint color I'd been thinking about for this part of the house. Once again, I reluctantly fork over the credit card, joking this time that this "mattress" of DH's is ending up considerably more expensive than he had originally promised.

The day the mattresses arrive we clear the room, paint the bedroom, and build the bed. Once the mattresses were in place a sad thought crossed my mind.

I have absolutely no sheets that will fit this bed.

So, out once again, this time to BB&B to buy new sheets. All in all our "on sale" mattress replacement ended up costing us a heck of a lot of money and an entire weekend worth of work. The saddest part of all of this? There's only one piece of furniture I've wanted for the longest time. We don't need it, so I have refused to buy it, and since DH isn't particularly interested he hasn't used his considerable wiles to convince me to buy it. All I've wanted for years is a new bedroom dresser to replace the old broken one we inherited from my parents. You want to know the one item of the bedroom that didn't get replaced? Yep. Still using the old dresser.

ummmm.....hope your landlord didn't see you bring it in....or at least you paid your rent first! :sad2:

So what size bed do you have in your master bedroom?
When is the last time you bought a bedroom suite?

We bought a new full size mattress set 11 yrs ago, but it's on the cheapy generic frame I brought with me into the marriage. So we have a full size bed (aka a double bed).

We have never bought a bedroom suite. I have 5 drawer linen chest that MIL was giving away plus a chest of drawers a friend was giving away (and she'd gotten it a year prior, from another friend who was giving it away, lol). Several drawers are broken on it, which is why I use the linen chest. DH still has his chest of drawers from childhood. It's old, small, and kinda ugly, but all the drawers work, lol.

I'd love to buy a bedroom suite, but it's pretty low on the list of things our limited amount of extra $ will go to. This year, budget trip to WDW and hot water heater. Fridge and dishwasher about to poop out on us too. Not gonna cancel WDW for new dressers, lol.

Last year, furnace, stove, and dryer.

We bought a new mattress set just recently I think it was in Nov for a Vet day sale or something. BUT our bedroom set we got about 6 years ago when we lived in Alaska. It is a queen.

I saw a thread from OP a day or two ago talking about how to go about asking her landlord to hold off on cashing her rent check. Just think the landlord will think it's pretty mess up he/she didn't get rent yet they are bringing in a brand new bedroom set.
