So excited.....don't know I can keep it a secret!!

Be sure to visit CRUSH in DCA, children at that age love it. Plus, everytime you see crush, the show is different. I am sure he will love it..:cool1:

If you want him to be excited, tell him! Think about it...he'll be surprised now, or later. Either way, he'll be surprised.
:thumbsup2.
I'll second that! We surprised our kids (then 6 & 8) for a wonderful WDW trip, and after so much trouble to hide the trip from them, when we arrived at the Orlando airport, we didn't get the reaction we expected. My DS6 just look at the camera, and began to beg so he could take pics, and DD8 almost cried because she just found out that uncle Mickey was not real :scared1: (we told them I had an uncle Mickey and we were going to visit him, and that he had a dog and 2 ducks! :rotfl:)But after 10 minutes, it finally kicked it and they began chanting "We're in Disneyworld" while we were heading to the magical express.d
If you want to tell him, tell him! :wizard:

I'm over 40 and I love it! :goodvibes One of my fav attractions! I always laugh so hard!

One perk of not telling him would be none of the "are we there yet" on the drive down haha...Friday is a 9hr drive to our first destination...then an 8hr drive Monday morning to DL.

I figured out how we're going to surprise my oldest DD this time! This will be a first trip for my oldest DS and youngest DD so I let them in on the secret. They have been watching youtube videos about DLR and some specials we found on Netflix. I did this because they really don't grasp the concept of Disney and I want to get them excited beforehand, plus they are shockingly good at keeping secrets! So, it will just be my oldest DD who is being surprised and it's her birthday anyway. =)

So, I just ordered custom t-shirts from Vistaprint (less than $30 for all 5 shipped!) The shirts are plain white with text. Youngest DD's says "SeaWorld", DS's says "Legoland", DH's says "California Adventure" and mine says "Disneyland". We are all going to wear them to DD's bday party, hidden under a hoodie or something. I will wrap oldest DD's shirt and it says "I'm going to". I'll make sure it's the last present she opens and as she's working on removing the many layers of wrapping paper I'll use the other 4 of us will be removing our hoodies. I'm hoping that when DD opens her shirt and reads "I'm going to" then looks around puzzled she'll figure it out that our shirts are the destinations for her surprise trip!

OMG - Best idea EVER! :worship: Make sure you video tape that one!

I have kept ours a secret for 6 months. ONLY 6 MORE TO GO hahaha

You can do it! The thought of surprising my kiddos is the only thing keeping me going. I can not WAIT to add our video to youtube ;) That's another way I distract myself..watching surprise videos on youtube LOL

I can't wait. My DS is sooo gonna cry HEHE

Oh, I think you're going to be getting that question no matter where he thinks he's going! :)

My mom pulled off a surprise Disneyland trip once with us. It went fine, but I think she tortured *herself* much more than it could have possibly been worth to her. We drove from San Jose to Grand Canyon for Thanksgiving, and we begged her for disneyland the WHOLE WAY. Then we were driving back, and we continued our campaign. We had finally given up, were dozing, and this is back when the big sign (that is apparently in John Stamos's backyard now, LOL) was still visible from the freeway, and we woke up and started begging again...and they said OK and turned off. They'd had a reservation at DLH the whole time.

We were happy and excited and squealed, it was good.

But if we'd known we were going, she wouldn't have had to endure our begging!

Anyway, our response to "are we there yet" is Mr Incredible's "we'll get there when we get there!", in varying tones of amusement or annoyance, LOL. And now that he's getting older, and we're studying maps, I like to tell him more specific things about where we are, etc etc.

I too am bursting at the seams, trying to keep the secret a secret from the niece and nephews. Our proposed trip isn't until September, and last week I sat down to show my nephew some videos of our favorite rides. I REALLY need to stop that. I think the plan is that about a month before the trip, we'll tell the kids that we're going to visit their aunt & cousins in Minnesota with a layover at SNA. Only once we arrive at SNA we'll tell them
"Oh no! Our flight to Minneapolis got cancelled! and we can't get a flight home for a week! (Real Oscar quality acting :rotfl:) I guess we'll have to get a hotel and find something else to do!"
At which point we take a cab to the Grand Californian, where we'll have some welcome baskets waiting with some Disney crocs, sunscreen, hats, etc.

So if the big Disneyland sign is gone....how close do you get before you start seeing DL or something Disney-themed?
