So, do you have a strange catch phrase or word?

"Hetzy". It means jazzy, hip, happening. Such as "that is a hetzy purse". Or(when looking at some poor guy who's a dork but thinks he's cool) "Isn't he the hetziest thing?" Or "Let's go hetzing".

It's a multi-purpose word.

I also like the word skidmore. When I used to work for an insurance company years ago, we had a person who used to call farily regularly and his name was Dick Skidmore. He was a pompius sort of person, so whenever someone is acting like a ...you know...I call him a skidmore, rather than calling him by that gentleman's first name!!!

Oh wow! I say lots of things! LOL I think I say, "Unbelievable" too much.. whenever someone or something irritates me or stuns me. I also say, "Oh come on!"

Im a Northeasterner wickeder too.

And its retaaaaaated, you need to emphasize tha vowels when you drop the "R". Have you seen the spoofs on SNL about Bostonians, we do really sound like that:rolleyes:

Edited to add: And, for the record, I do say "wicked retahhhdid", but just spelled it correctly! I AM wicked retahhhdid! :teeth:

I do y'all sometimes because I was raised in the south. I always get strange looks when I say it up here.

"Aggravation factor"

IOW, how much aggravation will there be if I do something one way versus another.

My SO has a few that he uses ALL THE TIME!!!!! And sadly I have picked up on them.

"Cheese and Crackers" (all purpose phrase, mostly when something has slightly gone wrong, instead of using more fowl language)

"Liter of Cola" (sometimes accompanied by "D'oh" from Simpsons - this was picked up from the movie SuperTroopers, he uses it the same way as the previous one)

"Clock out, you're fired" (don't know where this one came from, he uses it to express dislike in the way someone did something)

he also does the Joey "How you doin'?" thing...but that is just for me :smooth:

Ok, at work (I work with a lot of very young african-americans) terms I have picked up and have started using are "hot mess" as in "Did you see Janet Jackson last night, she looked a "hot mess"! Not meant to be complimentary.

Another one is, if something is good is... Wow, that was "off the hook"!

So now this, 47 yo, very white woman has begun to use these phrases!!! :rotfl:

My DH watched a movie with Bruce Willis (don't remember which one, but a recent one) and he said..."Cowboy the f#&% up"!, used when someone needs to "get over it". He likes that one. :)

I was reminded yesterday of one I've recently taken to using.

Lately, when I've been wanting feedback from my spouse, I've been asking, "What say you, Kemosabe?"

When something good happens I say "sweet!".

And instead of saying "you're good" like if I'm the passenger in a car and the driver is asking me if they have enough room to maneuver I'll say "you're golden."

I personally also like "rock on!" People give me funny looks with that one.:teeth:

lol I say rock on.

Now, I don't want anybody to laugh at me but I say "uffda" all the time. It is a Scandanavian word that can be used at any time and really doesn't even have a meaning. I grew up in So Dak and so many Norwegians back there use it. Luckily I have seen it on a license plate here in Colorado so I know I am not the only crazy person out here.

One thing we often say, with apologies to Monkeyboy, is "laugh while you can monkey boy".
