So disappointed with CBR!

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experince.:sad2:,we are planing our Oct trip and we still plan on staying at CBR.We have stay at POP the last two years and I had read quite a few diffrent oppions on peoples stay good and bad,but we contenued any way. I think It just deppends!,I have read about how long people have waited for Buses going back to WL,so I do not think Its the value of the Resort but more the timeing!.But If the Delux make you more comfy thats what you should go with.:goodvibes

CBR is not our fav place either and we won't be back... it is too spread out and too many bus stops... especially if you are the last stop of the night.. way too long.. it is just not for us... it is beautiful.. just too many other things in that place we didn't like...

ya'll are scaring me. we are planning to stay at cbr in june. my first choice was boardwalk and my husbands was animal kingdom lodge. the only reason we went moderate is because of our party size. we are travelling with some friends and there is a total of 14 of us. i hope that we don't experience anything negative.

I would not worry about it. Everyone has a different experience--different personal expectations, tastes, etc. You could have had the same problem at the Boardwalk or the AKL (I had a friend stay at the AKL last May while the rest of his group was at the CSR; he indicated his walk from his room in the far end of the AKL to the pool and food was a farther walk than it was from the CSR Convention Center to the Ranchos section--the most secluded section at the CSR). You can have bad mousekeeping at any resort (our worse was at the Contemporary).

I'm sure you'll be fine.

Try not to worry. :goodvibes We've had a much longer walk than CBR at AKL (all the way beyond the pool, to the elevator then back past the pool several rooms to our room ...great view though ;) ) and BWV (worst of all..one elevator for the entire resort and some rooms were half way to the Studios, no exaggeration.).

Bad housekeeping the same - can be bad at any resort. The housekeepers may have been on overload with the all the cheerleaders during the OP's stay...and we all know how neat teenage girls can be.

Recently, I've read a few other reviews of CBR in general (and the Pirate rooms) and guests were very happy with their stay - actually remarking that the walk was shorter than expected from reading the complaints on the boards.

So, try not to worry and Happy Planning!!! :goodvibes

We just got back from our trip to Disney yesterday. We stayed at the CBR and booked a Pirate Room. The room was cute but we will definitely not be staying there again.

To tell you the truth the pirate room is kind of ugly, it looks out of place, unfinished...:confused3 That theme just never did anything for my 12 yo son also, when we were deciding where to stay on our upcoming WDW trip, he took one look at the room pictures and said……..”ok, what else they have?” I guess cute does not cut it for a 12 yo boy……. The nemo rooms look much better, brighter, colorful………….

Let me give my 2 cents. We are currently staying in a pirate room at CBR and it will be the last time we stay at CBR.. We are very disappointed with this resort. The only thing we have to compare it to is the All-Star Music Family suite. The wife and I have been talking about this for the whole week, most of the CM’s in the food court are rude of just don’t care. We feel the food court at the All-Star has better options. So we will be going back to the All-Star family suite for our next trip. We rented a car so we have not used the bus except for when we went to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. We had to wait for a long time to get a bus to MK at 7:00pm. We had 2 Epcot buses come by us before we ever saw the MK bus.

The only upside this resort has is the nicer pool and beaches. But this is just my 2 cents. Ok off to watch the fireworks for Grad Night from HS….

I am staying here now. :)
I agree that things are a bit spread out but all and all it is nice. The rooms that we have (Nemo) are very lovely, new and very clean. The mousekeeping staff is very attentive and have done a great job and keeping things tidy and stocked (new coffee every day, towels galore, soaps, etc...).
I agree about the dance competition participants, I have to say I have never met such an unruly bunch of kids and adults. I mention the adults because they are directing them to cheer outside the rooms and allowing them to run amuck. I have seen more security efforts within the last 3 days than any I have been here - it's to the point that they are being threatened to have to leave the pool and guest areas. And... come on now - do we have to cheer every time we breathe? I think they have one for every human function. I do respect that they are in a high energy sport but geez.... The last couple of days have been trying... getting a meal or enjoying the locations activities has been hard. I can't wait for all of the "room parties" they have been discussing for tonight.

I have to pack to leave tomorrow but I we are anticipating returning and I would consider CBR again. :)

To those of you who are not enjoying your stay at CBR, I'm sorry it wasn't what you were expecting. My family loves it there, we have also stayed at WL, but our budget allows for a moderate, and that is where we choose to stay. The bus problem can be at any resort, it is not just a CBR issue. The buses are probably routed by a computer program that sends messages to a dispatcher who tells them where to go. Its not the buses fault, nor is it CBR's. As far as CMs being rude, anyone can have a bad day, and I have found that if you greet someone with a smile, you get one in return. With regards to the A/C or refrigerator not working properly, did you call the front desk and notify them, did they repair it for you? Those can happen anywhere, not just at CBR. Just some food for thought. We love CBR, the rooms are large, the landscaping is just so tropical, the pools are so much fun, and my kids love them. As far as the cheerleading stuff, that's not a CBR issue either, that problem lies with the adults with that group and if they were bothering you, why did you not notify the front desk, they may have been willing to ask them to move. Don't always rule it out!!! Some of us love it there!!!

I am sorry for your resort stay :guilty:
I am a deluxe gal myself so I understand :rotfl:

I booked a pirate room for one night stay ~ then chickened out and upgraded to deluxe :rotfl:

Hopefully you will have a better trip next time... :hippie:

Aww that stinks! Sorry about your bad experience - the worst part of your post for me, wouldve been the cheerleaders - I cant stand rude people - especially girls like that!

We've always loved CBR.. but its not for everyone :goodvibes

I am sorry your resort stay wasn't so great... I hope the rest of it was still wonderful though :goodvibes

I went to CBR last year to check it out... I had a nonpark day and I was doing some re-con for future trips. I thought the pirate themed pool was pretty cool (I was there post-remodel) and I enjoyed Old Port Royale.

I liked that it really had a beach-y feel and that it didn't even seem like I was in WDW.

What I didn't like is that it didn't seem like I was in WDW, lol.

We never rent a car because we don't need to be wasting any money, so a resort so spread out like that would be torture for us. Which is why we won't stay at OKW, SSR, POR or CSR if we can help it.

The buses aren't fun at CBR, and CSR. I hate that they are so big they need an internal bus to get around. I needed to head back to Pop so I decided to either go back on an Epcot or DHS bus, they took FOREVER. And once I finally got on the bus at OPR, we still had like 5 stops to make before going back to DHS. :scared1:

No thank you for me and CBR unless I am renting a car. Or for any mod for that matter, I have decided- Deluxe or Value only.

Angie,
So sorry you didn't have a good experience at CBR. Hope your theme park experience was better. :)

(To those that may make a decision to not stay at CBR because of Angie's experience, there have been many great reviews lately of CBR, please read those first!)

I have a question, are the refrigerators different at deluxe resorts?

We are DVC members so we have stayed at a fewof the deluxe resorts Boardwalk, Wilderness, Beach Club... CBR was our first Disney resort we stayed at in 99...and it was rundown..but we enjoyed it...

We also stayed there in 99 and I didn't notice anything about it being rundown. We loved it. I see you still loved it as well. Loved the Ol Port Royale. But, to be honest, someone working in a food court or a CM would really have to be having a bad day and be extremely rude for me to think twice about it.

Would love to hear some positive responses from people who have just gone down. Hope there's some out there! I'm hoping the place hasn't gone downhill these last few years.

CBR is the only Moderate we haven't stayed at. It always looked too big & have heard bad things about it on the web.
But, with the new Pirate Rooms we may give it a shot. Can't be as bad as our stay at CSR with an Elks convention going on. that really took away from the family fun.
Jim

We just got back from CBR yesterday too. The dance competition people were totally obnoxious - made a trip to the food court less than appealing.:sad2:
Our rooms were clean - a few towel animals greeted us during our stay. :goodvibes We were in Martinique & and a very nice view. We tried the food court for breakfast only & were very disappointed with the size and quality of the food. Also, the cast members couldn't agree on what was included in the dining plan. Never used a pool - way too crowded. I called Bell Svcs to have our luggage stored for our last day - 8:50 am scheduled pick up time. We were told we had to be there for them to pick them up. I waited until 9:40 am to call them (my Dsis had a 9:20 pick up) and inform them that no one picked up the luggage. The CM told us to leave the bags & tips in the rooms for them to pick up. Certainly not the worst resort stay we've ever had but we won't book there again.

I totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 We love CBR and can't wait until July!!

On all ears rate and review, CBR is the lowest ranking Mod... and POP ranks much higher... CBR ranks very close to All star movie.
There are only 2 resorts that rank lower than CBR,
Sports and Music...

We were just at CBR last month and LOVED it. We are booked there for our next trip. We just loved it.

I had no problems with CM's, mousekeeping, buses or anything. Everything was perfect for us!! We were in Jamaica 45 and were 2-3 minutes from OPR and 2 minutes from the bus stop. It was a magical trip and my kids LOVED it! Plus one of the pirate cruise leaves from there...so easy with the kids.

We did have one school group but they only misbehaved once and DH let them know. :scared1: We have vowed to go when it's lease likely to be groups.

Sorry you had a bad trip and hopefully next time it will be better!
