So did you get nervous

Would it be rude to make upstairs off limits I don't want to be liable if one of them falls down the stairs.

If you do this then you need to worry about them falling on the way up to your door, sitting down and breaking a chair, and choking on their drink. In other words, RELAX and enjoy your company.

How would you even tell people your rule? Make an announcement as everyone comes in. "No one is owed upstairs and everyone must leave by 7!"

I hope you told everyone the end time in advance, and most people will not go upstairs if you have a bathroom downstairs. Unless, they have never been to your house before and want to see it.

I second the relax and don't sweat the small stuff.

First of all relax, the more you stress about it the more likely something will go wrong. It's our first time hosting Christmas too, and we have a very active 10 month old. So we are a little nervous about forgetting things and trying to get everything done in time. However, we are planning on doing a few things tomorrow to help.
Prep as much as you can for example two of the dishes we are making are French Onion Soup and Roasted Apple Stuffing. We are making the soup tomorrow so we just have to heat it up, stuffing will get made dry (so the bread will be cooked and cubed, celery will be diced, apples will be roasted and put into a bowl so tomorrow we just have to mix everything together.)
Our room, and the guest room is off limits (that's where we wrap gifts so it looks a bomb went off).
DS's room is really the only thing up there after that so unless someone is grabbing a change of clothes for him theres no real reason to go up there and most guests wont go upstairs unless they have a reason. So don't worry about that.
The table will get set Tomorrow as well and all the platters and bowls we plan on using will get set out with a piece of paper designating what goes in it.
We also have a list of what we need to get done tomorrow and the entire menu that way we can cross things off as we go and things are less likely to be forgotten about.
Most Importantly don't forget to RELAX. Make sure to take a minute (or 5) to soak everything in. And IF something does go wrong wing it. Don't make a big deal out of it and laugh it off and figure out how to make it work. :goodvibes:thumbsup2
