Since the question was asked, apparently they have a parole board that decides issues of supervised release. Since it's 3 to 10 years, I guess there's a process for a hearing after the minimum sentence. I'm pretty sure that after the maximum sentence there's no choice but to release.

Parole is not guaranteed. At the minimum sentence date, the offender is eligible for parole consideration. The Parole Board interviews offenders 3-4 months prior to this date.
