Im planning on going to wdw next year

I would class myself as someone who knows Disney very well been a lot but always go oct or sept

But this year we are looking at the start of the year but can decide between April or may there seems to be so many school holiday etc and I'm worried about it being to crowded as I'm taking someone who has never been before

Easter falls early next year so if you are looking to avoid UK School holidays then looking at prices for mid to late April would be a starting point. I think the US schools start to break up around the last week in May :)

I did the leg work on this one for my planning next year.

Easter is March 31st next year, so British school holidays are from March 30th for 2 weeks. Which accounts until mid-April. American spring breaks range anywhere from early February until mid-April.

The next British holiday after Easter is mid-June. The last term dates for Florida kids is June 6th. I think the northern states actually stay on a few more weeks.

Memorial day is May 27th.

So really anywhere from about mid-April until mid-May is good for a 2 week holiday. Memorial weekend is crazy busy & usually in May is Star Wars Weekends at DHS so they are best avoided Friday-Sunday if you aren't going for that specifically.

Otherwise, good crowds & good weather. We've gone the first 2/3 weeks of May the past 2 years & had a terrific, relaxed & relatively quiet time.

I was looking at the last two weeks of April or first two weeks of may so it might be ok what about the may day bank holiday

May Day in 2013 is May 6th, but Americans don't have a corresponding holiday. So all it serves is to give you a day's holiday back at work if you go over it. We have the last 2 years, it makes no difference to crowds or anything state side.

Be aware though that a good few areas (us and all our surrounding LEA) have gone to a standardised school year meaning the 'Easter' holidays don't always include Easter :)

even more confussed now lol

last two weeks of april/first two weeks of may is a good time..
it's not completely uncrowded, but it's past the easter/spring break rush...

so you should be ok if you go at that time...

The next British holiday after Easter is mid-June.

I'm not aware of a mid-June holiday in our area. We still have the more traditional week after the Spring Bank Holiday for half term. So that's the week including the last Monday in May.

(this year it was 1 week later because of the Jubilee.)

Yep there is generally a half term the last week of may overlapping into the first week of June of one week.

As for what I was saying about standardised year, our spring break of two weeks is now always the first two weeks of April, whether Easter falls within this time or not :)
