So confused... with free dining

Please help me understand this free dining... We are arriving at Disney on Dec 1 and staying until the 7thqt Pop Century. From what I understand we we will qualify for the free dining before the black out date of Dec 2nd is that correct? Also do we only qualify for quick service? This is the first time we have purchased the dining plan so it's all new to me.

Yes the Pop only qualifies you for quick dining plan.

If you book a Free Dining Pkg. then you get free dining for the entire trip (max. 14 nights, unless UK). The credits are based on the # of nights. You have to book the Free Dining Pkg. it's not automatically given to you.

If you book at Pop and get the QSDP and want the DDP, then you can pay the extra per person between the two plans. If you have 4 adults (10 yrs and up) in the room, you may prefer moving to a moderate as the price difference is almost the same when upgrading the dining.

You do qualify for the free quick service dining plan since your arrival date is not one of the blacked out dates. You can pay the difference to upgrade to the regular dining plan...that's what I did.

For an adult and a child it's cheaper to stay at Pop and upgrade to the DDP if you want the TS meal plan.

For a family of four with children over 9 then the price to upgrade the QSDP at a value is around the same as staying at a moderate resort. At the moderate you also get a fridge, larger room and a pool with a slide.

As a PP has said, you need to call Disney Reservations and modify your existing reservation. They say that there is only a limited number of rooms associated with the Free Dining promotion, so you need to convert your reservation to free dining before they run out of rooms otherwise, you won't get free dining. You won't need to cancel your reservation, just modify it (the reservation number will stay the same and you won't lose any ADRs that you've already made).
