Are you able to use them in the park with out a local ID? wondering if a friend bought them and gave them to someone who does not live in the area but is not going to the park with you. Could you still use them?

No personal experience here. But food for thought for them: I have seen reports in previous years of people getting by with it- but is it worth the risk? They should read the fine print to find out if the park is within its rights to deny the non-local entry. If so it's up to them to decide if it's worth the risk, that's a good chunk of cash to throw away on a ticket that they potentially can't use. And they can't scalp them either to get their money back.

I've used them for family where I used my AP and showed my ID when we bought the tickets. It's been a few years, though. When I used one myself since they started taking pictures my ID was checked twice. At first entry and then on my 2nd or 3rd hop.

I've been looking into different entry options for various places in SoCal. I think it was at the San Diego Zoo where it said your name and address on the pass must match your id. They have some deals only available to So Cal residents.

Also, my sister lives in the area, so we could potentially do this too, but I don't think it's worth the risk. I don't know how much the discount is, but it seems like a lot of the time, it's not even that much.

I wouldn't chance it. I've seen them check ID. I have the same thing going for Walt Disney World. I can get Florida Resident discount tickets through my work, but I'm not going to chance it, and will go through the right means to get the tickets.

I met a woman at DL last week that mentioned her using her relative's So Cal address to purchase the So Cal AP. She lives in the bay area. I just didn't have the energy, lol, to point out the potential problems with that choice. So good luck to her.
I know that pass is at a good rate, but still...why chance it.

I've thought about those So Cal tickets too (not an AP though) as I still have family in the area who could purchase me on.

For me it all hinges on the 'what if'. What do they do if they DO refuse you entry? Are you allowed to go to the ticket booth and pay the additional amount for a 'regular' admission? If so then I'd probably go for it. But if they're going to confiscate the ticket and refuse a refund, or just say 'Sorry Charlie' leaving me with a ticket that technically can't be sold on to a valid So Cal resident, then I'd say it isn't worth it.

This word sums it up - yes, you are able to do this as there are reports of people who did, but that is because they were never asked for ID. However, you are not supposed to use them if you do not live within the required area and they can and likely will ask for ID as these tickets are intended for Southern California residents.

I think it's great you came here asking about this - I am sure many people would go ahead and not investigate and then cry bloody murder if and when they were at a loss!

Also, not sure if you only need 1 person to have valid ID, I would think all adults entering using the tickets could potentially be required to show supporting ID to enter, not just the 1 person who lives in the area.

I got my SoCal AP before I got my California DL. I brought a utility bill with me but they didn't check it. But I'm sure that just depends on the person at the ticket counter.

Either way I wasn't willing to buy it online ahead of time just in case.

I got back from DLR last week. I'm from Canada. We went to visit my Aunt who lives in SoCal and she called Disney directly to ask them about the SoCal discount. They told her that she was able to purchase SoCal tickets for us (the Canadians) online. We would NOT be ID-ed at the gate. The CSR at Disney said this was the "way around" purchasing the tickets (because they WILL ID you if you try to buy them at the gate). Apparently, the spirit of the discount is for SoCal residents to be able to purchase tickets for their guests.

We purchased the SoCal three-day hopper. I got the bar codes sent to my phone. I was still a bit nervous going to the gate. But sure enough...no questions asked. They took our photos, gave us our actual DL tickets, and we sailed into Disney to have the time of our lives.

Hope this helps alleviate some of your concerns. The person purchasing the tickets has to have a zip code attached to their credit card from SoCal. Otherwise you won't even be able to purchase them. As it turns out, I have a BOA US Visa and we use my Aunt's house as our home address. I didn't even end up using her credit card as Disney allowed us to use my card. It was a very smooth process and we plan on doing this again when we return in a couple years (assuming they still have a SoCal discount). We saved a ton of money with no headaches what-so-ever.

Interesting how people out of state or US may use so cal tickets but here i am in nor cal and cannot for obvious reasons. Frankly, this whole business ticks the hades out of me. :faint:
At least when I go to the gate with my AP, I don't have to worry about entry.

I think the posts about it being a risk to use these tickets as an out of town guest being or it being somehow improper are misguided. I called and spoke to two different cast members and asked if my socal sister can buy tickets for out of town guests to use and was told unequivocally it was fine. The SoCal resident needs to buy them either in person with proof of residency at the ticket booth or online/phone with a credit card with a SoCal address.

Further the terms of the tickets on the website do not prohibit use of tickets by out of town guests, out of town guests just cannot purchase. SoCal residents are limited to 5 tickets a day and commercial sale is prohibited. Hope this clarifies these SoCal flex tickets, and is useful to someone.

You either live in So Cal or you don't. Disney should not allow people residing outside of So Cal zipcodes to use these tickets. I think it's unfair and ridiculous to everyone else. Why should I have to pay more just because I am not using someone?

I have to agree with this.

I also know that I have read that in prior years this was not the case - people were stopped, asked for ID, turned away if they did not have at least someone from the area with them. This is not paranoia - it is from past experience that has been shared on this forum. Perhaps Disney has decided to relax the rule - odd though since they are raising the price for everything else with the intent on making it more expensive for everyone.
