My girls were reading in their Disney books and asked me if we could do Chef Mickey's. I hadn't scheduled any character dining as we're mostly doing CS meals and eating at our condo.

I tried several different dates and the earliest I can get a dinner reservation is 9pm. Just waay too late for my 2 year old.

My girls are going to be so dissapointed. :sad2:

What are my chances of someone cancelling? We're going at such a busy time that I have a feeling it's next to impossible. Looking at either June 29th or July 2.

Don't get discouraged. I would keep calling every so often. There is still a couple of months to go and I am sure you may luck out with a cancellation. I hope you do. We do Chef Mickey's for dinner on our 1st night and breakfast on our last day. It has become our tradition of saying "hello and then goodbye to our friends".

keep trying, people cancel ALL the time. even when you get down there, call and check b/c people make adr's and cancel trips all the time.

you might want to get an adr for another character meal, just in case?

Keep calling- you never know who might cancel! One CM told me the best time is 48 hours before, a lot of people re-look at their ADR's & cancel ones they don't want - you never know!

Try breakfast, the food for dinner was lousy!

Just keep trying. Don't give up. I can't get in either but we picked Kona's instead. Chef Mickey's is perfect for wee ones and the food is buffet.

UGH Don't feel bad we HATED Chef Mickey's. The food was awful- we were there for breakfast. We went twice - I'll always give a place a second chance everyone has an off night. But it was WORSE the second time!!

For the Atmosphere and the experience of a character meal the castle is my favored way to go- or Norway in Epcot. But we are protesting all charcter meals this trip as they jacked up the prices with a holiday surcharge for the summer!!

I would try for Cape May at the Beach Club for Breakfast no Mickey but Minnie out front, Goofy & Chip & Dale. It's a good time & good food.

I would recommend breakfast at Chef Mickey's, its much better then the dinner! But dont give up, keep trying!:thumbsup2

Consider it your lucky day.

We go every trip and, sigh, I can't warm up to it. The food is OK and yes the atmosphere is loud and "fun" but all I seem to do is dodge toddlers with full plates of food.

Keep calling but get a back up reservation.

Did you consider Garden Grill at the Land in Epcot? They have Mickey and Chip and Dale plus one other character (every other time we have been it has been Minnie, but this past weekend it was Pluto). We just went with our 2yo and he loved it. If you ask for one of the booths on the outside of the circle, it is quiet and you get some privacy with the characters. Not the usual insanity of the other character meals.

Other character meals to consider (mostly for the characters, not the food)--

Crystal Palace -- Pooh & Friends -- at MK
Liberty Tree Tavern -- dinner -- I think Mickey is still there? -- at MK
1900 Park Fair -- dinner -- Cinderella, ugly stepsisters, & family -- at GF
'Ohana -- breakfast -- Lilo & Stitch (and I think Mickey) -- at Poly
Cape May Cafe -- breakfast -- Classic Characters in Beachwear

... and there are plenty more. Check them out on allears.net.

I agree with the others that you should keep trying -- people are always cancelling reservations. But you might want to book a different character meal just in case you cant get in to Chef Mickey's.

Have a great trip and good luck getting into CM!:yay:

I booked Ohana for breakfast. And I was able to get Chef Mickeys for a very late dinner on another day.... not a great day for us to go though. But now not so sure I should keep it.... looks like reviews aren't so great. :confused3

actually, chef mickey is probably the easiest to get into without an ADR -- if you are adventurous....

i actually was told about this "trick" by someone at WDW-Dine a few years ago and have probably done it 6 or so times for either meal --- for either meal show up 30 minutes before they open and get in line. they should be able to accomodate you. i have never been denied nor have i seen others denied. for breakfast you want to be there at 6:30/6:45 and for dinner at 4:30.

when we started doing this we would shoot for dinner. we would take the monorail over and linger in the concourse store for a few minutes and then head over to the restaurant. we always figured if it did not work out we could swing back through the store and jump on the monorail and it would still be an adventure. but it always works out.

This will work, we have done this and always get seated
