So.. are you renewing / purchasing AP's this year?

With the opening of Star Wars (which I'm a HUGE fan of) does it make sense to just wait until next year to purchase an annual pass? I'm imaging the crowds are going to be insane. If we go this year, it'll be in May or early June and I'm thinking of not getting an AP. As much as I love Star Wars, I'm not up for the over crowded parks and long waits in line if and when I return later in the year.

Thoughts?

I went ahead and bought new ones that we activate next month. I feel like this gives us a chance for an AP preview if they happen. We will then wait until at least 2021 before buying them again.

Yes! We renewed on our November trip! We have 2 trips planned for this year and will definitely use them... but if SW opens during our November trip, we might opt to skip until the following summer trip. We’ll play it by ear!

No, we did not renew. Ours expired in July 2018. We don't plan to renew until 2020, so it'll go through a good part of 2021 too. That way, we can see SWGE (I like Star Wars only moderately) plus some/all of the other things going on in Epcot and MK.

I’m tempted to buy my first on our trip next month, but only because the DVC gold pass is cheaper than a park hopper plus photopass.

Yes. Mine expires in October but we have a long 2020 trip in the plans for SW’s. I’ve saved a bundle buying an AP.

It depends on a lot of things as to whether an AP makes sense for you such as where you’re staying, how long your trip is and if you’re making multiple trips within the year.

My first trip on the AP was only 5 days, wasn’t sure we’d make another, but the savings on my resort and free photopass paid for the AP. Turns out we’re going again in May (saved 250 a night ) and a quick trip when Illuminations ends.

That’s not even factoring in all the discounts for dining, shopping and special event tickets.

We will be when our expires. Was hoping for another AP/DVC discount this year. With SWGE set to open sometime this fall, not surprised it didn't happen. Probably won't see a discount for several more years now.

Our first AP expired in Sept 2018. Waited until our next trip (Feb 19) to buy new ones. This way we get 3 years of trips out of 2 APs. We go at least twice per year, in Fall and Winter, when crowds are low (lol).

Last AP expired May 2018. I just purchased a new one this morning! Trips planned for June and November (so far).

Ours are up in March and May and we wont be renewing for the first time in 5 years - mostly because we have a baby due in September. With the summer blockout dates (not that I'd wanna go in my 3rd tri anyway), baby in September, and then not taking a newborn, we prob wouldn't go to the parks until February/March at the earliest. Makes more sense to just buy new passes then.

Will be renewing when ours expire in Sept. But we already have a 2 week vacation booked for Sept and 2 weeks in Dec. And with the DVC renewal rate we can't beat the price.

We just purchased for our trip in June and honestly, I think everyone is blowing Galaxy's Edge up out of proportion. They did the same thing when Carsland opened at DCA and will do the same thing with Marvel Land or whatever they end up calling it, the reality is yes Carsland was extremely busy for a few months, but even it died down shortly after opening and wasn't anywhere near as busy as they were expecting at opening. I think Galaxy's Edge will be popular and for a couple months may make it hard to get into Hollywood studios, but I think as long as you aren't going to Galaxy's Edge you will be fine for the most part. The bigger problem is all; of the new hotels being built without adding much capacity to the parks, I think that needs to be solved sooner rather than later.

We might, we just added some DVC points so we may be going more often or staying a little longer. I'm not concerned with the Star Wars stuff, if it gets impossible to get into DHS we'll just do the other parks. I'd hate to miss TOT though.:earsboy:

We won't be renewing until 2021. Ours expires late 2019. Skipping 2020 to let SGE settle a bit and to wait for some of the new attractions to open.

WDW: yes, will renew in December. DL: No, we already let our passes lapse, too expensive, and I want to wait to see what SWL does to that park before I commit to another AP.

I just renewed mine in early February since we took a long trip in February. We are going again in May as we are Using the rest of my SPG pre merger points after a nice long DVC stay. There’s also a DVC moonlight magic event at Epcot on one of our BWV nights in May and another at AK during our July stay. Seems easier to justify the AP if you can can take advantage of extra events too.

Ours will expire in late September. We will not be renewing. We will activate AP vouchers, that we bought last year, when (if) we visit in 2020.
