So.. are you renewing / purchasing AP's this year?

No we just let ours expire last December. It was a really tough thing for my husband and I to do but the prices have just gotten to crazy for us so we are taking a Disney break for a couple of years. We have been doing Disney as a family for nearly thirty years so this was a big move for us. We are planning a large family vacation at Disney at the end of 2021 so we will see if we missed it or not.

I hope to buy an AP when we go in December for our 20th anniversary next year. But am worried there'll be a big price increase. We are not going because of SWGE but look forward to seeing it.

Ours expire tomorrow and we will not renew. We will close down MK at midnight tomorrow and then take a break for a few years. Not willing to continue to pay the prices for parking, food, drinks, etc. while the experiences seem to continue to decline.

I'm not renewing. Our passes will expire in May. I don't want to deal with the insanity that'll happen when the land opens. So my plan is to just wait and see when the crowds somewhat die down. We might wait a year before we renew our passes or a little more when all the other new rides are supposed to open.

We are about 7 hours away (door-to-door by car) and we've been going to WDW for 10 years as a family, but we bought our first APs ever this year for your trip next month *because* we will go back when SWGE opens. We can't wait! It'll be insane, but we are huge Star Wars fans and we are really looking forward to it. Crowds and all.

We just purchased for our trip in June and honestly, I think everyone is blowing Galaxy's Edge up out of proportion. They did the same thing when Carsland opened at DCA and will do the same thing with Marvel Land or whatever they end up calling it, the reality is yes Carsland was extremely busy for a few months, but even it died down shortly after opening and wasn't anywhere near as busy as they were expecting at opening. I think Galaxy's Edge will be popular and for a couple months may make it hard to get into Hollywood studios, but I think as long as you aren't going to Galaxy's Edge you will be fine for the most part. The bigger problem is all; of the new hotels being built without adding much capacity to the parks, I think that needs to be solved sooner rather than later.
I think it'll be insanely crowded, it would be nice if I'm wrong. But I could totally see 8 hour waits for rides. Star Wars is loved by people who don't even like Disney that I think will be going to see this on top of the people who are going because it's Disney and a new ride. Frozen had 5 hour waits in the beginning and the new Pandora rides still have crazy wait times like 4 hours and that movie isn't even that popular.

Star Wars has been around much longer than either Pandora or Frozen so I tend to agree. Like Universal’s Harry Potter rides, I believe people will visit almost solely to see Star Wars land. Maybe Disney will give FOTL access for paying Xxx to stay at some deluxe resort/suite or just for paying Xxx. I bet they have a plan to monetize it more than just raising ticket prices and garden variety onsite rooms.

Expect the worst and hope for the best is what I say.

Star Wars fans are legion. They will show up trying to cosplay and it will be wild. I don't know how Disney will handle that lol.

Even though so many of them hate the new movies they will come.

Ok I hope this is not true, did Disneyland raise their AP price $500. I wish I could remember where I saw this discussion and I hope they do not do that at DisneyWorld

We got APs last October as we knew we'd come back this year (in a week now). We won't renew and won't come again until some time in 2020/2021. Have other places to go on vacation and since we'll only come in the winter/cool season, there's no reason to rush coming back. SWGE is going to crush the park next winter and so we'll wait and maybe get them to come twice again in a years' time, so long as we enjoy ourselves enough on this upcoming trip. I suspect we'll just buy tickets though.

My AP expired last year. Will be getting a new one before my October trip (also going in December).

I’m taking a 10 day trip this April and have a short trip booked for September, so it’s already cost effective for me to buy an AP based on park tickets alone, and MM + dining discounts make it even better. I’m a teacher, so unless I go over the holidays (nope) I won’t be able to go back before next spring break anyhow, and we should have decent crowd data by then.

We will be purchasing DVC gold pass APs soon.. we will activate May 31 for 8 day trip in June and another 10 days in December and hopefully a short 3-5 day trip in February of 2020.. with the three trips in 8 months it finally made financial sense to buy them.

Mine expires in January 2020 so I have the ability to use it for SWGE. I also probably will renew for 2020. I average 3 trips a year now.

2 of ours expire in April and the 3rd in August. Sadly, we won't be renewing any of them. We have a trip planned next month but won't be back to WDW until Summer 2020. We have trips to Spain and Chile this year. I am also going to D23 Expo. Not enough time to do 2 WDW trips this year. I will be keeping my Universal AP, since I will going there in March and again in October. Plus, it's so much cheaper, and you get really great hotel and tour discounts, that it's a no brainer to keep at least one.

I renewed my son's a couple weeks ago. I am mad at myself for never taking advantage of the Orlando Magic jersey offer when you renew

I hope your scenario turns out to be true-we have trips planned early this September, late January and mid May. We will be on property, but hope we can just glimpse Galaxy's Edge in January and actually get fast passes for it in May. We had thought maybe other parts of HS would be less populated once GE opens, but someone pointed out on this board that they would probably be filled with overflow from those not getting into GE.
