Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

 I understand. Others I know do similar things. I hope you had a nice time. :flower3: Grace and peace.

Interestingly, I don't think I know a single person IRL that's from PEI. Half of Newfoundland is here, and there are tons of people from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I now realize that probably nobody ever wants to leave PEI. :goodvibes

Just curious - is your family francophone? If so, I could see the draw to New Brunswick.

Thank you 🥰 it was quiet and what we needed.

My family is a little bit of everything. My Father was born in PEI. (Adopted), left for a better future in sports and work, and came to Mtl alone at 16. He spoke French horrifically.
My Mother was raised by her Aunt in a predominantly French household, a little off island if you will. My Grandmother was single, and in those days, it was so much more frowned upon, so she was only able to come to Mtl at 18. My Grandmother was also also a horrific French speaker. 🤣 My Mother made sure that my sister and myself spoke at home, but our mother tongue is English. She was a smart women, and saw the future in this province. I did the same with mine, and my best friend is French. My husband is Italian (can’t speak it) 😒, my son and I can, my husband is totally just wanting out of the province, he can’t stand the political crap,
The draw for me is just the water, the calm, the tranquility, and the fact I can speak French, but I am not FORCED to do so.
Sorry about the long reply, it’s hard to explain. In a nutshell, we can’t stand the crap here anymore. 🤣

Political situation in NB is not much better and language is definitely an issue.

Hey, at least you have beautiful beaches and scenery.
Here we are known fir orange cones and construction, and bike lane mania.

I am sure you do, but you know looking out at the window at the splendour 😋
It's always beautiful in the Hudson Valley.
