Supposedly DL's ticket prices are increasing on Sunday.
How about WDW?
Would AAA offices likely have leftover tickets at the current prices come Monday?
Just trying to get a hold on whether we should buy our tickets now or hold off a few weeks and buy when we originally wanted to.
$5 increase per ticket wouldn't be horrible in the end but more than that would make us want to buy before the price increase.

I haven't seen anything regarding WDW tickets at this point. Ticket companies that buy tickets in bulk usually have a limited stock until they sell out. That is not a guarantee though.

With a decline in attendance, I wonder if we haven't crossed some threshold of elasticity where increased prices result in disproportionate declines in sales. I have always heard that Disney just keeps the parks open with the ticket sales, making the real money on merchandise and food. If people avoid the parks due to price, it is logical that the related, high-margin products and services will suffer. I'm not saying that Disney should or should not raise prices, but I do question how increased prices might impact the bottom line. If demand was very high or increasing, the decision to raise prices would seem more logical.

You've heard correctly...the profits are in the giftshops

I think you'd be pretty safe betting on yes.

How soon? As in, within a week or so? I'm still on the fence, debating getting our CDN discount tickets. It's a huge chunk of money to tie up for a trip that won't happen for another year or two.

If you purchase tickets with the Canadian discount, those tickets MUST be used by December 31, 2017. You can't buy now and use them in 2018, 2019, etc.

Actually, yes you can. They are non-expiring tickets. Right from the Disney website: "The best part? You can use these discounted tickets at any time during 2016, 2017 and beyond—they won’t expire!"

They must have changed it then. We bought our tickets for our January 2017 trip last fall with the Canadian discount, and we knew we'd be going back in 2018 so we called and asked about it - we would have bought our 2018 tickets at the same time. We were told they expired December 31, 2017.

Unfortunately, you were told wrong, which really sucks. They have always been non-expiring. Though you can still buy some at least now, the discount is on till the 28th of this month.

I just looked it up, and you are correct. I went and bought an Annual Pass, but we're having our wedding in Disney next year, so I guess I better tell all of our wedding guests to buy their tickets now!

Thank you!

I've had a few friends that somehow didn't even know the discount existed, so now they're trying to get them bought before the sale ends. One crazy fool is even trying to plan a March break trip, as in, in 3 weeks time... Oie.

That Canadian loophole with the expiration dates will be closed at somepoint...unless there's some kind of law prohibiting expiration.

Disney has made it crystal clear they are not interested In selling advance media anymore. We'll all soon likely be locked in to predetermined usage dates...

The Cdn tix are not a loophole. They have no expiration - just like all regular Disney tix. They are just discounted because of our terrible exchange rate. Disney is also offering a big discount for their UK guests and those are normal UK tickets too.

No doubt.

Not all regular Disney tickets. Single day tickets do have expiration dates now.

It's not a loophole. It's the way the tickets are sold, period. Right there in black and white. They are the exact same as the non-expiring tickets Disney has sold for years. They're merely being sold at a discount. Will they offer them again when this sale is over? Who knows. I imagine it depends on economy, the dollar, attendance etc...

What I'm saying is that they are systematically eliminating tickets that offer presale benefits over time.

1. They lose a little by selling them because of consistent ticket increases.
2. They can predict their profits based off them if they know when they will be used. Tickets are just a gateway...
