The Disneyland® Monorail made history when it debuted in 1959, the first of its kind anywhere in the country. It consisted of three cars and was painted a futuristic tomato red. It was soon joined by a blue version. Collaborating with the original designer Disney Legend Bob Gurr, Disney artists along with Master Replicas® lovingly recreated this die-cast metal O scale model with all the authentic details from the foot pedals down to the precise placement of each rivet. Other impeccable details include working headlights, taillights and a top beacon light. As an added memento, it arrives with a collectible logo pin. Requires 2 button-cell batteries, included. Nat- As you know, I was involved in this project a little since before the original mold was made. At first, I was surprised by how many questions the model maker had, and at the great lengths he was going to get absolute accuracy.

I was also surprised that during the creation of the monorail model, there was never a corporate "bean counter" to make a suggestion (or a command) to sacrifice detail to cut costs.

I'm only aware of one minor detail that was changed to improve the beauty of the finished product and that's the deletion of the front tow hook assembly.

This is the finest "Big Red" model that has ever been produced. I gained great respect and admiration for the model maker who cared enough to complete his project, his way, as perfectly as he originally envisioned it. And on time too!
