Which was Air Canada’s in house loyalty program, that got spun off, and is set to no longer be Air Canada’s loyalty program, has an agreement in principle to be purchased by AC, TD, CIBC and Visa Canada and have points transitioned to the new points program, which doesn’t have a name but should be called “new
Aeroplan”.

In short, we don’t need to use/sell our points. We just need to hang on to them and watch as they get devalued. Maybe.

And what happens to the co-branded American Express Aeroplan cards? Amex seems absent from the mix.

I'd expect that they'd go away and Amex will offer you one of their other rewards cards. This happened to me when CIBC discontinued their petro-points card.

I have a TD Infinite Aeroplan and my expectation at this point is that I'll get rolled into whatever New Aeroplan card comes out from TD.

I memory serves, Aeroplan was required by the competition bureau to allow another card brand to issue their cards. At the time, the program was so lucrative that it was akin to a monopoly for Visa to remain exclusive. In order to shut out MasterCard, they allowed AmEx to issue the Aeroplan cards to meet the legal requirement.

Anyone know how that portfolio is doing?

We used most of ours flying DD and myself back east to visit her BFF in Ontario. I am ordering a couple of Starbucks cards for our upcoming trip for breakfast and snacks in the parks. That should use up all but about 1000 points in both DH & DD accounts.
