Snowmageddon!

It's on its way here too. No school/work tomorrow; early dismissal today. My cruise is not until December, though! :rotfl: (I am not in a hurry for next winter to come, since this one is no where near over in my area!) :lmao::rotfl2::laughing: I have been reading cruise related posts on disboards to cope with our long, harsh winter! ;) Disboards is addictive, but it is free and has no harmful side effects (at least I haven't noticed any yet .)

Hoping for safe travels for those vacationing soon.:flower3:

Here in SW MN, we are on a second day of "no school" and have received almost a foot of new snow since Sunday afternoon....on top of the piles (2 feet) of snow we already have on the ground. The wind blows a lot here on the "Buffalo Ridge" so we have ground blizzards. Even though the sun is shining above, sometimes it's a total white-out on the ground. We live on a farm...my husband told me that the snow is so deep now that a couple of cattle had walked over the fence. We are hopefully done with the snow for this week, while the rest of you are preparing for the storm. Good luck and safe travels to all....but better yet, just stay home!

We are escaping this cold and snow with a Dream cruise----but not until March 27th! The cruise (and spring!) can't come soon enough!

Well,

Denver only a got a few inches of snow but we are FREEZING. The high today should be around -3 degress. Windchill of -30. Ice everywhere and no school.

We are calling it snOMG2011. Just going to add another foot to the 2 feet we already have.

We cruise next January. After this winter I wish it was going to be sooner.

In Maine, we are in the middle of a little snow storm, only 3-5 inches.:lmao: Tonight is when the BIG storm is coming our way. Somewhere between 18 and 26 inches. I work and live at a boarding school and I am hoping for no school tomorrow.I plan on spending the day dreaming of tall drinks while sitting on Castaway Cay.:cool1: I hope everyone stays safe and warm during the storm. For those of you trying to get out to get to your cruise, here's hoping for lots of Pixie dust:goodvibes:goodvibes

Here is a pic from my back yard. My other dog would not hear of going out into the snow!

In central IN, we've already had an ice storm last night (1.5 inches) and right now are getting ice storm #2 mixed with snow. Everything was shut down or let out early today and the cancellations are beginning to roll in for tomorrow.

I swear if that groundhog sees his shadow tomorrow, I'm gonna strangle him! :rolleyes1

We are just coming off of the snowiest January ever recorded here ... and starting February with ... more snow!! (and ice)

For the first time in 7 years in this house we had ice damming and water dripping down from the bedroom ceiling .... spring can't come fast enough!!

I'm here in the Northwest Chicago area. My town is predicted to get about 20inches of snow tonight. I'm a teacher and we were released early today and have no school tomorrow.

Snow days would be fine with me except I want to go on the June 14th Alaskan cruise! So I can handle 1 more snow day... any more than that and my cruise is in jeopardy! Ahhh!:sad2:

snowing outside right now! Got out of work early, came home before DH- shoveled everything, w/ no more room to put it!:lmao: And we're suppose to get 12-20" on Wed w/ some ice-ugh!!! I hope work calls it off tomorrow
...
this is what it looked like today after I shoveled:

The ground hog better not see his shadow tomorrow or else!:rotfl:

It's finally stopped snowing here, now it's just cold. Mom called and it seems her pipes have froze up and there are no plumbers in. She's on well water and lives about 2 blocks from us. Not sure what to do.

Forgot to mention that she's on well water. We're hoping it's just a blown circuit. Neighbor is going to to check it out.

I just got home from work after we closed, and will find out around 5:30am tomorrow morning whether where I work will be closed tomorrow or not.

We are deep in snow here in NH too. Schools already closed for Wednesday. We had snow today all day until 3pm stopped for a few hours and has started up again and will continue all night and all day tomorrow. Expecting anywhere from 15-22 inches of snow.:scared1: Record snow fall for Jan and Feb in NH.
I have lived in New England all my life and never remember ever having this much snow all at one time.
We could be digging out for days. Right now having hot coco, wrapped up in a nice warm fleece blanket.
But I wish I was at Castaway Cay sitting in the sunshine sipping a nice cold drink.

Being new to this whole snow thing, is there anything I need to do to prepare? :scared1:

Buy food, light a fire in the fireplace or turn up the heat, grab your computer or iPad and hunker down for some quality DIS time. Oh, a kitty keeping your lap warm is pretty relaxing.

Yep, snowmaggeden just struck us. We are a few miles west of KC and we have about a foot so far. The worst is to be the 40 mph winds kicking tHe snow into 5-7 foot drifts and the 20 below wind chills. I'm dreaming of a cruise!!!!

:thumbsup2 HEY GUYS let's keep it "COOL"..................how many can remember what happen 9 months after that big snow storm in the chicago land area back in JAN., 1967.....................or did you just have a birthday ..... this past OCT. 27th??? :lmao: :rotfl2:

In south burbs of Chicago and it is hitting us bad at the moment. As I type, my windows are rattling and my whole house keeps making noises. The wind is fierce! :scared1: Supposed to have 40-50 MPH winds with lightening and thunder later tonight. I am a teacher and we were dismissed early today and school has already been called off tomorrow. This is a full-blown BLIZZARD!! Parts of Lakeshore Drive have been closed too....fear of the lake flooding.

Good luck to those of you attempting to travel/get out to the airports for your trips. Take care and stay safe everyone.

We are in Southern Wisconsin and also getting hit by this storm. Glad it came early in the week and not over the weekend. I enjoyed watching the snow fall out my window while I packed shorts and swimming suits for the Western Carribean on the Magic. Thankfully I got most of it done as the kids are home tomorrow and they don't know we fly out on Friday. Excitment is in the air. I am a little disappointed however as I was waiting for the great snowstorm all winter and now we are leaving. That sounds pretty sad doesn't it?
