Snowed in, tell me

Im taking advantage of the next 2 days to catch up and get ahead on school work... that is if I can get off the Dis lol... I have taken off a year from school and had NO CLUE how much work the last year would be esh... I should have just gotten over with last year lol

Here in Columbia MD I am snowed in and bored! I am frustrated I can't work on projects for our upcoming trip in 2 weeks. I want to finish making tshirts and gift bags. It is a secret trip. My kids are bored and stalking me so I try to look at this page when they are busy in another room.
I don't think they will go to school all week due to already planned early releases for conferences!

I forgot we also have to cancel my DD's 9th birthday sleepover party for tonight! Talk about a sad girl!

We knew it was coming so we stocked up on video game rentals and movies from Redbox. I also picked up two library books just in case the power goes out. So far, so good.

My two sons (16 and 13) are hoping to make big $ helping neighbors shovel. In December they offered to help and they didn't charge a set fee rather asked for tips and they each made nearly $100 from maybe 4 or 5 neighbors. Seems nobody enjoys shoveling!

Ohio snowbelt here.....we have about 18 inches in our driveway. Cars are moving just fine up and down our road, and DH is working on digging us out. The snow is no big deal, we get hit like this a couple times a year, we just gotta get out of the driveway. We have to be at a hockey game (A MAW fundraiser) in 4 hours.

20 inches here so far. I baked a cake and choc chip cookies, helped DH snowblow and shovel 2 drives (ours and my moms), and I'm making Contemporary Resort Chicken Cacciatore in the crockpot. Now I'm working on the laundry and putting clothes away - then I'm going to clean out/declutter our hall closet (very messy). Kids are watching movies, playing video games, doing puzzles, computer....board games later.

Not lived up to the hype?! Are you serious?! I live in Howard County and we have 30inches. We are doing nothing today but relaxing. I doubt the kids will be back to school before Wednesday :(

As of first thing this morning, but having since shoveled the drive and have received at least another 6" since then, I can say that we're now getting the snow predicted (in Southern Maryland). But to me this is just a regular winter storm. We moved here from Michigan.

I am so sad over this. I am suppose to be at a convention in Columbus, OH to sell books for my business. This is a big conference for me. I live outside of Pgh. and we have 24" of snow (the weathermen said 3-6" ... ?) We cannot get out of our house. We have shoveled ourselves out, but the road has not been cleared and I have no idea when it will get cleared. This is a big financial loss for us if we don't get out ... and this on top of quite a few other issues that have gone on lately (sick parents, sick kids, etc.) I feel like I am going to loose my mind.

Sorry to complain ... just had to vent a little.

I live in Howard County too and my guess is that the kids will be off all week. In Feb 2003, we came back from our DCL vacation on Saturday night and it snowed 20+ inches that weekend. The kids were off school all week. I predict the same this time. Especially since the kids were off Mon-Wed before Christmas when the roads were cleared by Mon PM. :confused3

As a teacher I don't mind snow days, but please designate them as 'state of emergency'. We have two more days budgeted in before we have to start attending school during Spring Break. If designated as a SofE then we don't have to make them up.

I had to work today. Our main road were passable but back here where I am, they never clear our cul de sac.
I am in Ohio and I am not sure how much snow we have.
All I know is my dog has no where to poop!!

I would love this recipe!!! Could you post it? Thanks!

Well if I had it my way I'd go into labor...but our snow hasn't quite lived up to the hype. I'll probably do laundry, some cleaning, and baking with my girls.

Wondering where in Maryland you live? I'm in Baltimore and we have almost hit a record total! Over 24" so far and it's still coming!

Deciding which DVC resort we want to stay in for our trip in June. With any luck I will be able to get my reservation today or tomorrow. What great way to pass the time in the middle of a blizzard! Dreaming of vacation!

P.S
Here in Blackwood we have at least 2 feet of snow...maybe more. I bet we end up with 30 inches by the time all is said and done. So much fun!

Marlton, NJ here. LOVING the snow! It is giving me the excuse I need to just take a day to relax and enjoy my family. I look at the day as a gift.

We sure got more than the 5-7 inches called for!

I figure at least 20 inches here in Ohio.

Essex County NJ here...not ONE flake! I can't believe it. DS is a bit bummed I think. I went to bed a little before 1 and it still hadn't started, but I was sure we would wake up to a pure blanket of white. They closed the college where DS takes his swim classes...they announced it last night...sigh. But we went to a local learning store for a craft project so that was fun. Going to do some computer work and cleaning the rest of the today. Tonight is "breakfast for dinner" and family game night. :)

Actually, I'm a little bummed too...it would have been fun to play in the snow (but not to shovel...DH is recovering from surgery so it's all up to me. Ah well...

I'm in Catonsville and we went out to shovel some and it was 26.5 inches- and that was around 10:30am- still coming down hard. :scared1::scared1: I am scrapbooking and making chicken divan for dinner and a cake or something for dessert. :goodvibes

Hi RangerPooh! Didn't know you were expecting! Best wishes for a smooth and easy delivery! Hopefully you'll all be shoveled out by then. :scared:

We're in Southern Maryland, Waldorf. For us, having moved here from Michigan yesterday's snowfall was a bit lackluster. Today's snow has lived up to the hype much better.
