I must be in the minority. I love the first day of school! We need more of the routines that come with school. I think of it as a new beginning time. Of course, I don't have any days to WDW to countdown! :(
Sarah was really excited to go back, she missed too many of her friends that she doesn't see much in the summer. Paige was okay - didn't really care one way or the other. I think that's partly because her BFF is in a different class this year.
It was cold, windy and sprinkling here - not good when Paige wants to wear a sundress!!! We ran out yesterday and bought a sweater for her!
I'm working at home today so I can bake some cookies this afternoon. Got in to get my haircut this afternoon - lucky me, someone canceled!
Hope I can get a few more jobs done around here - sometimes when I have all this time I just waste it!!

I look forward to getting back into a routine too, I just miss Madison when she is gone. We had a very busy summer, but we did laze around quite a lot. I wish we would have done more stuff together this summer.

Anyways....I don't feel guilty for sitting at my computer while she's at school (which is what I've been doing for about 2 hours now!). I printed up new tip envelopes because I like them a whole lot better than my previous ones. One thing off my never ending list!

Happy first day of school to all the Snowbird babies that went back today!:goodvibes

Andrew is on day 9 already and I still miss him. He's really enjoying this year though which makes it much easier than last year. His teacher is phenomenal!!! She does a fantastic job of communicating with the parents so I know what he's learning and how he's doing on a daily basis. Such a difference from K last year and I'm so pleased! :yay:

I spent my weekend sick- we had lunch Saturday and I got a salad and a few hours later I was sick as a dog! I'm feeling better today and thankfully I have an easier day- 2 of my kids are out and 2 are getting picked up at 3:30. They must know I'm not feeling all that great because they've been so well behaved today. They're eating lunch quietly right now. Maybe I should fake sick more often.

I know one reason it's different for me - I am not usually with the kids all day anyway. They are either at daycare or school. I was only home one or two days a week (except weekends). So I'm used to them or me being gone.
I really enjoy hearing about the stuff they do all day, what they're learning etc., so it's more fun when they're at school. The most I can get out of them from what they did at daycare was what they had for lunch!

Kim - I hope you're feeling better - doesn't it stink to be sick over the holiday weekend?

It's much harder to entertain older kids so kudos to your day care provider. I prefer the preschoolers. They're more on my level.

Hey ladies!

The stupid military has a waiting list for Korea. We just found out about it last week, and we're not even on it yet. I'm not happy.
I thought I was going to get to follow Logan out there within a month or so, but now we have no idea when they'll have "space" for us. Apparently, they're considering breaking the waiting list up, so the people with school aged kids will be on a different list (limited space in school). This would make the list a little shorter, but probably not enough to make a huge difference.

Now I get to decide what I'm going to do in the meantime, because I won't have a place to live in a month from now. Maybe my sister's in-laws will let me "house sit" their house in Orlando?:lmao:
I can probably get a short term lease somewhere, but I'm having a hard time deciding where I want to go. My Mom of course wants me to be near her, but it might be fun to be near my sister so our boys can be near each other for a little while. They won't remember it, but we could take some fun pictures.
As of now I'm considering being a nomad and just staying with relatives, but I'm not sure how sustainable that will be before I get driven crazy without my own space. I would get to pocket most of our housing allowance, which would make traveling in Asia more feasible. (staying on property at Tokyo Disney is REALLY expensive)

I just wish they would give me a time frame, because then I could make a more informed decision. It doesn't make any sense to me, because they know when people are scheduled to leave Korea and thus when there will be availability.
In the meantime, Logan is attempting to push back his report date by attending as much additional training as he can get his hands on...

Maybe now we really should schedule a trip to Disney as a last family bonding thing before Logan leaves since we have no idea when we'll be reunited again.

Sorry to hear about all that Becca. You would think they would have a better system in place!

Yeah...I'm mostly upset that we've been in contact with people about it for almost a year and nobody mentioned the waiting list until last week.
Our paperwork got held up here before it got sent there too, so we could have already been on the list, but someone screwed up.

I just checked my Disney pin e-mail (yes I have a separate e-mail address for Disney pins) and I have another pin in it. For fall free dining, and it has availability where the general public code doesn't....too bad it isnt for 40% off...

Me too!!! LOL....I do the Rainbows at church one night a month (3 yo's)...I just love 'em to death!! they are precious!! One little boy always looks for me and he grabs me around the knees and huuuuugs me....lookin' up at me with these beautiful blue eyes!!! He doesn't talk much, just smiles... I love that kid!!! They are all pretty great!!!! Some talk, some are very quiet...but when they do talk, I loooove their little voices!!!!!! Makes everything seem a little easier!
becca~ I hate that you are in a place of disorder/limbo!!! YUCK!!! I would be crazy! that stuff drives me nuts!! Hopefully they will get y'all lined out soon!!!

My daycare mom is great - most of the kids who she watches are neighbors and they are all friends for the most part. They manage to entertain themselves and the older ones help with the little ones. She does some fun activities, and this summer I think it was tougher. It was so blasted hot they couldn't be outside as much.

First day of school went well - both girls love their teachers and were happy to see their friends. The only homework was for me - forms to fill out! Took the girls out to dinner - they picked IHOP! Of course, lucky us, Tuesdays, kids eat free!

Becca - what a bummer about your uncertainty! Leave it to the military - they can plan invasions and everything, but when you have to plan a move - they make you wait until the last minute. My friend's DH is a reservist who has done two tours in Iraq and they always said that they don't believe the orders until they come and the soldier is actually in the air! Good luck!!

First day of school here also..... my baby is a SENIOR.... talk about time flying by.... no tears were shed this morning though... he is soooo ready for this... I couldn't be prouder of him.... he is really a remarkable young man.....

Because Dan works and/or played golf everyday there wasn't much of a change around here this morning... busy day for me though... gotta get moving and head to the office... my weekly visit...lol.. have a great day everyone!!!

For anyone else who celebrates it, just want to say

L'Shanah Tovah u'Mitukah.

Best wishes for a happy and sweet New Year. May we all be written in the Book of Life for good.

Found him on another "smiley" website. You can add other links to these boards as long as it's on the Net.
