I'm sorry:sad1: I hate, loathe, abhor our summers, so I know how you feel! I am getting just a teensy bit of a feel for how ya'll have winter! We are not predicted any snow,,but they are saying with wind chill and all that, it'll be 6 tonight, and -7 tomorrow night:scared1: We are soooooo not used to that....i remember winters when we were sooo thrilled to see 40 or 50...it just doesn't get this cold usually....I am really liking it so far! I am not having to be out walking around in it though.....Like poor ole Dave the Postman!!!!!! Ha!!!

Yes poor old Dave has been living in long underwear and about three layers on top!! Thankfully he is not a walking mailman, but has a truck. At least it's not as windy!
I'm plannng to do whatever needs done today (I'm actually at work on a Friday) and then hunker down for the weekend. It's going to "warm up" to 20 on Sunday!!! I still have to take down some more Christmas stuff including the tree and reorganize the office. That should kill my weekend.

Becca! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I need to get to this thread more often. Sorry you're dealing with terrible morning sickness. I had it pretty bad this time around, too. Nothing made me feel better and it lasted until about 17 weeks for me. Hopefully the doctor will get you something for it.

Welcome back, Wendy!

Snowbirds... I am in need to town car service for our February trip... does anyone have any suggestions... we arrive Feb 13th about 7pm and depart Feb 19th at 6am... yikes...

Hi Snowbirds! I feel like a snowbird today! Can't wait to get to warm FL in 2 weeks. Well at elast I'm hoping it will be back to warm and sunny by the time we leave. Crazy cold front.

Sarah- Happy belated birthday!

Wendy- So glad to hear from you again! Sorry to hear about your DH's Dad. I'll be keeping him in my prayers.

Plutofan- You will LOVE TSMania on Wii! We've been playing it daily!!!! So much fun! Happy 2nd birthday to your little princess!

Becca- Hugs to you- being preggo is NOT easy! Those little ones like to mess with mommy loooong before you ever meet. I'm glad you got an earlier appointment. I was just at the border of being underweight and had a very small appetite during the first few months. Everything made me want to vomit. My OB said to basically eat what I could, when I could and to drink mela supplements to help keep me and baby nourished. For some reason I had no trouble keeping Ensure down. I also took Flintstone chewable vitamins because the prenatal ones made me sick. Same amount of vitamins including folic acid. My OB instructed me to take 2 daily but I had to be sure to get more calcium elsewhere since that was the only thing lacking in the chewables vs. the horse pills (gag). You might want to ask your OB about it if that's an issue for you. I went through lots of hard candy for some reason. Just sucking on them made me feel better and it also blocked me from smelling stuff that made me nauseous. Good luck to you and hang in there. It will be over before you know it and it is definitely worth it in the end!

Becca...I 2nd the Flintstones!! I still take those more than reg grown up vitamins...your body processes more of it and easier than swallow vitamins...because it 'sees' it as food since you are chewing and swallowing....very informative being pregnant isn't it?Ha!!!! Yes...take 2 at a time. I noticed that the only smell that really helped me was a cranberry or cinnamon type candle...not the cinn that is fakey and makes your nose burn...but a pure type..or just Cranberry alone...I know Mike and the boys were probably sick to death of the Cranberry candles before dd was born..but it helped me not feel so sick at my stomach......
Wendy...so sorry to hear...we will be praying for a total healing from the Lord for this great man!!!! And congrats on your upcoming anniv.!!! 24 years is wonderful!!!!
For all my book worm friends...I am reading the latest book by John and Stasi Eldridge (all their books are PHENOMENAL!!!)..called Love & War...it's a marriage book and no matter what stage you are at in your marriage, you should get it! I just love to share a great book!! Of course, I do have tons more I could plug!! but, I just got this and wanted to pass along a great one!!!

This will be our 4th trip to California...mom's lived out there about 10 years. And I totally agree....you definately need a car (I LOVE Priceline for this!)!! :) We've done the zoo a couple of times and Sea World, but have never made the trek to Disneyland. I think this was my DH's way of giving me something Disney since we knew we wouldn't be going to Disney World for a few years.

Also, since we're only going to go for one day, we're going to be able to participate in the Give a Day Get a Day. I'm so excited about that! The volunteering aspect is rewarding enough...the Disney day is an added bonus.

It's fun that you'll get to do the Give a Day.

Welcome back, Wendy!

Last night I woke up with a terrible headache. Usually my solution for headaches is sleeping, but this time it woke me up.

I started drinking Ensure shakes pretty much right after my wedding, because I was hoping they would help me gain weight. I've always been a picky eater, and pregnancy is not making it any better. I was taking Flintstones vitamins before we found out I was pregnant, but my DH made me switch over to more grown up ones when I ran out, because he was worried that they weren't good enough. A couple days ago I missed one of the grown up ones and realized that my morning sickness wasn't as bad, so I told him I wanted to switch back to my Flintstones. He went out and picked up some more.
I've been sucking on leftover candy canes every day.

I'll have to try the Cranberry candle thing.

Thanks Ladies! I knew I could count on my snowbirdies! I've been getting on pregnancy message boards too, but they're difficult to follow. A thread that I posted on earlier in the day is buried by the time I look for a response.

Thanks everyone on the prayers and well wishes for my FIL... they removed his kidney after they found a 6 1/2 inch tumor on it... the initial tests showed the cancer didn't travel to the soft tissue but then they found three spots on his ribs.. they are now doing some CT scans (I think) because they said the next spot it travels to is the brain... the doctors have very different opinons... one seems to think if he can treat the ribs he will be fine... another is telling us 6 months....
the hard thing is they my in-laws live in Michigan and the three sons live in New York and virgina so my MIL is dealing with this all by herself.... we told them not to build a house there!!!!! Yikes...

I am looking forward to reading a bunch of the trips reports from those of you that have traveled recently.... it gets me so much more excited for our upcoming trip!!!!

Wendy - Continued prayers for your FIL and family!

Ah, the woes of being pregnant and having morning sickness. Nope, sorry not me! JK. I really didn't have it, but I did have a time where I had to keep a little something in my stomach all the time. I walked around with saltines in my purse, in my car, in my work desk, on my nightstand.

Becca - how sweet of your DH to go get you Flintsones vitamins!! He's a keeper.

We toyed with the idea of going to Disneyland soon and also with the idea of doing the Give a Day. But as you'll see later in my TR (much later) we made alternative plans. Which reminds me, I will hopefully get an update up today. DH stole my laptop last night to try to transfer stuff to the new Mac. Oy, that's getting to be a pain. It would have been easier if I hadn't (accidentally) deleted all the pictures from the memory cards when uploading them to the laptop (which is a PC). Then he could have just plugged the cards into the mac. Oops. :guilty:

Got to go hop on the Wii fit. Then chores. Then update. Come on over!

Shawna, where's your TR? Still waiting because of your computer woes?? You're going to be mentioned in mine pretty soon!!

Hello all!! Sheree... I gotta go catch up on your TR..I had hoped to start mine by Friday..but, alas,....life didn't allow it!! I have had a CRAZY week....school is SO much harder without my schedule all printed out and ready. Since my computer was MIA all last week, it put me WAY behind....so, maybe I can start my TR soon...we have plans for most of the day today, and church in the morning,..so maybe I can squeeze in some time and get it started at least!!!!

But as you'll see later in my TR (much later) we made alternative plans.

Ooooh, a teaser! ;) I can't wait to hear about what these alternate plans are! :cool1:

btw - thanks for the book suggestion! I will have to check at church tomorrow and see if our library has it! :thumbsup2

I'm so excited, Snowbirds. The dining gods are smiling on me today. I've been trying 3 times a day for more than a week to get a ressie at Chef Mickey's. All of the sudden, 3 time slots open up today for the day that I want. My persistence pays off!

Yay Mindy!! Congrats on getting Chef Mickey's! I bet your DS5 will love it! What meal are you going for?

A question for you Shelly - (and anyone else who wants to chime in)
I know you have picky eaters at your house. I do too. My kids survive mostly on breakfast foods, (not including cereal), chicken nuggets, hot dogs and mac and cheese.
I was wondering how you handle it at home. Do you make a "regular" meal for you and DH and then make the kids something they like? We've been struggling with this lately. I don't want to eat that stuff very often, and while DD6 will try things, DD8 does not try much. So I keep trying to make normal meals and hope they'll like it, but ... they always seem to end up with a PBJ or something.

TIA

Great question Sheree! I have a picky eater, too! THe one good thing about Andy working alot of evenings anymore is, I try to plan things they will eat, and then I'll make something different for myself. But sometimes if there's something we want for Andy and I that I know the kids won't eat, I'll make something semi-different for them. For instance, they won't touch potato soup, so I'll nuke a can of tomato soup for them. I don't put too much effort into it! They tend to like to decide they don't like something I cook after I cook it (grilled chicken or burgers or something) then they're out of luck. No snacks for the rest of the evening unless they eat a certain amt of whatever we cook.

So my Personal Trainer just got my program set up. I've been pinched and body fat calipered, weighed and measured, and now I'm ready! We leave for our cruise in 25 weeks, and I've got 18lbs to lose! Would love to lose 23, but 18 is probably reasonable!!! My main goal is to get in a bikini!! :scared1:

And by the way, I just noticed that I haven't changed my age for a month now!! Let's just pretend I didn't notice it should go up a year!:confused3

We are doing dinner at Chef Mickey's. Ry loved it last time so I can't wait to take him back.

I have a very picky eater atcmy house too. Ry survives on chicken nuggets, hot dogs and peanut butter on whole wheat. He refuses to try anything new. It's so bad that we take food for him where ever we go, including Disney. He'll eat certain chicken nuggets and not others. He did eat mac and cheese at one point but doesn't any more.

Eating at our house is a nightmare. Not only do I have to accompdate Ry's tastes but my DH eats chicken mainly. He rarely indulges in the yummy goodness that I call fatty foods. We almost always end up having different foods at every meal.

I'm praying that Chase is not so picky and eats like a normal person :)

Ok,....started my TR....ya'll jump over there and say hey!! I am trying to re-associate myself with the whole Photobucket thing!!! Ha!!! I hope to have all of our Arrival day on there this afternoon...may or may not happen....anyhoo, just wanted to say it's started....the link is in my siggie.

Yeah Mindy on getting your Chef Mickey ressie!!!

I have a vegetarian at home and the other three of us are meat lovers!! What I have found that works for us is I will make something Maggie likes.... like rice, pasta, and then some type of veggie... she fills up on that and we use those as the side dishes and then we have meat. We are lucky that she eats most veggies... but she really has a pretty boring diet... plain white rice, pasta with no sauce... just butter and grated cheese... she doesn't like pizza, no sweets... honestly I don't know how she can be my daughter... she doesn't like chocolate...

the thing you need to be careful of is to make sure they are getting enough iron and calcium... she is anemic... and needs to take iron supplements because of it... she also won't eat any fish.... and because she is allegeric to nuts we can't get protein that way... the doctors do run blood work on her every 6 months to test her iron levels...

not sure if that helps or not... good luck ... it can be a challenge

Wendy, just a question out of curiosity! Is she a vegetarian because she is allergic to meats, or she just doesn't want to eat it? I have found that I have a hard time trying to plan our meals because I am not a big meat fan..I do eat/cook it every day ,but honestly, I could live on salads and baked potatoes, or veggie soup!!! We eat a LOT of chicken and I use Turkey instead of beef (for ground meat), organic nitrate free lunch meat and no weinees...kinda boring, I know, but, my kids will eat that. Also, I have to watch out for MSGs..so lots of pre-fab stuff that can be bought and frozen doesn't work for me. One of the absolute worst food-induced migraines I have ever had was after I ate fish sticks.:scared1: can you believe that? But it was killer and a friend of mine said it happens to her if she eats them also! Ok...well, sorry if that seemed nosey! just curious!!!!!
