SNOW.... yikes... no thank you

SARAH... good luck on your surgery

Snowbirds.... I am off to the airport in 10 hours... hopefully I will be able to sleep... the only thing I forgot to bring was my camera... but my sister has hers....

Have a great weekkk.... Here I come MICKEY!!!!!

Have a great trip!!

Hey all!

I hope yall are having a better weekend than I am.

We are starting to do some research about relocating to Florida. I've never lived away from my grandma and family but I think its about time to spread my wings a little bit. It feels "right." So this is kind of fun.... but here comes the yucky part of the weekend...

Work has been crazy, then I had to write an email update to send to our customers, and instead of "kinds of apples" I wrote "kids of apples" and "last but not least" came out "last but least"-well my proofreader didn't catch it either and some customer wrote a really rude email back about how we need a proofreader and we are "wrong!!!!" Wow, that was a little much. We are all human, we all make mistakes! She could have been much less rude.

Then to top it off I had to try on my matron of honor dress. The dress=disaster. It's really bad for my body type, and the bride said she was trying to think of me when picking it since I have body image issues and she wanted me her matron of honor to feel comfotable-then when I tried it on she goes "well it doesn't look bad enough to change dresses so we are keeping it" Even my DH, said it is very unflattering (he did so gently.) BUT, it is her wedding and my duty to be a good bridesmaid and just suck it up and wear it. I just feel hurt that she made a big deal that it was important to her that we all like and feel comfortable in the dress, and then when I said I do not feel comfortable she blew it off.

Thanks for letting me vent!! It feels a little better just to get that off of my chest.

I did have a good night tonight though! DH took me on a "date" We went out to dinner at the first restaurant that he ever took me to dinner at and we had a nice evening. :goodvibes

We started to talk about some plans for the upcoming trip, he kind of wants to try Shula's or primetime cafe, so we might think of doing one of those instead of cooking dinner in the room one night.

What is everyone else up to this weekend?

Well at least you had a good date night. I'm sorry about the rude customer. My mom has had to deal with some with her ebay. Sometime she just turns them over to me b/c she says that I can out witch (with a b) her, and yet still sound professional. You know, the way a southern lady can totally insult someone, yet that person not know they are being insulted.

I'm sorry about the dress as well. Luckily though, you'll only have to wear it once. I have only been in one wedding, other than my own. I was my sister's maid of honor. She just told all the bridesmaids what color, what type of material, what designer, and we could pick our own dress. That way we got what fit our body and we felt comfortable wearing. I actually wore mine on our last WDW trip the night we went to MNSSHP. I used it to dress up as the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio.

Hi all! Back from my scrapbooking weekend. I'm so tired, but it was really fun. We had tons of food, did wine tasting, stayed up late, and oh,yeah, scrapbooking!! I did get quite a bit done. Still no where near caught up on the girls' books. So the woman who coordinated this is my neighbor, a Creative Memories consultant, and has another one booked in February. I'm so going to do that one! I hope we don't get more snow. Right.

What is it about all the southern folks who say, oh, I'd love to see snow...Get your southern behinds up here! we have had pretty mild winters in terms of snow, but super cold lately. So we will see about this year.
And yes, 2nd week of October is early, even for us!!!
We're supposed to get more tomorrow too! Today when I got home, I was told that my kids' boots are too small. Well, usually Paige inherits Sarah's, but I don't know what Sarah will wear! Not going shopping today!

Glad to be back home!

acejka - so sorry about the yucky stuff with your weekend! Glad to hear you salvaged something with a date!

Wendy - HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!

Hope everyone had a decent weeekend.

I worked all weekend....big sale at the store, but I had huge sales in "my departments"...so YAY!!

Now I'm just sitting here with my hot chocolate watching baseball. Man those people in CO look cold. I do love baseball...

Have a great week everyone!

Hi all!

Well, my surgery is tomorrow. This is my 3rd surgery since last November. I'm kind of tired of them, you know? As you can imagine, I'm completely worked up. I woke up at 5:36am and couldn't get back to sleep. Of course, that was partially the sinus headache (and all I can take for pain meds is Tylenol)... I think it's finally fading.

We got the house super-clean. My DH even got rid of over 3 bags worth of clothes! We filled up our recycle bin. We vacuumed, mopped, and scrubbed every surface. I did about a half dozen loads of laundry (all you parents are probably going "so?" but there are only two of us!). And, most importantly, I got all my library books and crafting supplies in reach of the sofa, where I'll be recovering.

And then I shall live vicariously through all of you and your Disney trips!

So I have been going back and forth trying to decide whether to cancel my upcoming trip because it will be cold and flu season, not to mention stomach flu season (I know all of these can strike all year-it just seems so much more common in the winter months) I'm looking into trip insurance and whatnot, but I just ordered the dooney and bourke wdw parks wristlet and it will be here next week, so I guess I have to go now!! :goodvibes I have a new wristlet all ready for the trip.
LOL What a GREAT reason to keep the trip! :lmao:

On a serious note- I'm a bit frightened about the cold and flu season this year too. We've been sick since the beginning of September and with DS starting K and picking up extra germs there...oh my! Our pediatrician said this year is going to be a doozy whatever that means. But if the fall is any indication, he's right. We've never had anything this early in the season. I didn't get the trip insurance through Disney. DH says we don't need it at all but I feel better having it. I'm going to check into insuremytrip . com. I've heard they cover more than Disney and cost less. Any other suggestions for trip insurance?

Wendy- Thanks for panicking me! :sad2: You procrastinators worry me every time! My mind just doesn't work that way.

Sarah- Hang in there. I'm sorry you're stressing so much over tomorrow. I hope all goes well and your recovery is quick and painless!

Kim- I'm surprised your girls weren't as thrilled this time around. :confused3 I'm sure they'll get more and more excited as you plan together- especially when they hear about CRT!!!!:cool1:

Congrats on catching up a little! Did you try the CM digital software? How was it?

Hello Ladies!
So I have a bit of news... well we're not exactly sure, but anyways...
Logan finally got into his orders and they said APO for his first assignment, which probably means Asia/Pacific Office, which probably means Korea!
I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I love traveling, but I'm a very nervous person in general, especially while I'm traveling, which is why I like Disney World so much.
However, if it's true then we might be able to do a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland!

I think Logan's a bit more worried than I am...he told me to sit down when he told me. The other thing is we're not exactly sure that I'd be able to go with him, but a lot of soldiers take their spouses anyways, because they get so much money through various allowances. I think it would be much more difficult if I couldn't go with him, but who knows.

What about AAA for trip insurance? Are you a member?

Nope, No AAA here! I thought about joining it just for Disney but it really wouldn't save us enough to warrant joining it.

Becca I hope you get to go with him. I don't know if I could be a military wife and have time apart like they do sometimes. My area has a couple bases and I know several women who are going it alone while their spouses are over seas. It's so difficult.

Hong Kong Disney sounds like fun! Keep us posted!

Your son starting school is probably the BIGGEST reason for the extra germs in your house! Both my kids were uber healthy until DD8 started Kindergarten, not even so much as a cold!

As soon as she started school, we were all sick for that ENTIRE fall! :scared1: It gradually improved and things got better as their immune systems kicked in and by Jan/Feb we were fine! :thumbsup2

When DD6 started school, it wasn't as much of a problem because we had already been exposed to just about everything! I think that Fall we only had 1 little cold each and that was it! :cool1:

Aside from washing hands like crazy and staying hydrated (keeps the germs from settling in) there really isn't much else you can do to avoid getting sick! When kids start school, their bodies are being exposed to new things and their immune systems need to learn to fight! Trying to put a positive spin on it - if you have had one virus, you can't get it again! Aren't our bodies amazing that way? :)

The kids ARE excited! My DD8 took my Unofficial Guide to bed with her the other night and wrote down about 5 CS places that she wants to try! :cutie: Her #1 choice? Boulangerie Pattiserie in France! :cool1: She wants Mom and Dad to be able to have some coffee while she and her sister try some pastries! :woohoo: What a great kid! :lovestruc

Yeah, and if he got to see Asia and I didn't I would be jealous.
I'm thinking we may do a cruise through South Asia, because that would probably be the simplest and least stressful way to see the most.
I suppose I should wait to start planning completely, until we're completely sure that's where we're going.

Shelly~ Glad you had a good weekend at work!!!

Becca~ oohhhh,,, I think Asia WOULD make me nervous, but I would want to go with my hubby!!!

Kim~ is it too late to add travel ins. to your trip? You aren't paid in full yet right? I thought you could add it for the extra $130 or whatever it is.....

Kim~ your dds are sweet!!!!! I am glad they are getting more excited!!! I think they were shocked they are going back!!!!

Sheree~~ What a weird comparison in your yard photos!!!!!! That is just crazy!!!! Yes, I would love to bring my Southern Behind up there!!! Ha!!!! My main concern would be driving in that!! We have no clue down here what that's like!!!! glad you had such a good time at your scrapbooking weekend!!! You will be caught up before you know it!

Our weather has just been weird....wet, cool, cold, damp, humid, back to warm and muggy, now rain, and just icky. Southeast Texas for you...our weather guys are not quite getting it this week...the chances of rain are not matching up to the days we are actually getting it!!!!!! The temps are all over the place!!!

Sarah~ Are you still up? I am so glad you got all that done!!! Wow!! And your hubby moved out some clothes!!!!! Now you don't have to clean like that again til spring!! Ha!!! Once you are recovered..it'll be time to decorate for Christmas!!!!! And you can let your sweet hubby do that for you too!!!! Is your mom still coming in to help you? Try to relax and focus on how great you'll be when it's over!!!! Keep us posted!!!!!:goodvibes

AHHH!!! We've had snow here, but nothing is staying yet..thank the Lord ( I do NOT handle snow well...)

XXXXX
So within the next few weeks, our basement (my room) should be making a drastic change. My grandma (a wonderful 96 yr old) is having a harder time getting around in the bathroom. So we need to make a few changes to the one upstairs, that is mine and hers. So I will be taking over the bathroom downstairs in the basement that needs a little love. I've also wanted to paint the wonderful wood paneling that is in the basement, so since I'm taking care of one room, I'm going to be ambitious and do it all!:woohoo::scared1:

So I'll be doing some minor updates to the basement, while working 40+ hours/week coming into the holiday season in retail...yay!!

I think it's great you still have your Granny!!!! I am envious!!! I actually had a crazy dream last night that she was still alive and we were all (the granddaughters) taking turns spending a few nights a week with her and doing all her cleaning and grocery shopping....made me feel melancholy when I woke up!!!! So give her a hug from me...since mine is gone!
You are gonna have fun with all your remods!!!! You are also gonna be super busy!!! Post some before & afters for us!!! That's something else us poor ole southerners dont have.....Basements!!!!!

Sarah--good luck today! We're all thinking of you and praying for you. :goodvibes

Becca--how exciting! I would try to find out excatly where you're going...once you know, you can start to learn about it, and that makes it less intimidating. I have lived in Korea twice, for two years each time! 1976-1978 (I was 7-9...Dad was Air Force), and more recently 2004-2006 (DH is also Air Force). I enjoyed it both times. :thumbsup2 Lots of great travel opportunities--in addition to Hong Kong Disneyland, don't forget Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, which is supposed to be the MOST FABULOUS of any of the Disney parks worldwide! We took a fascinating trip to China and great beach trips to Thailand and Saipan. It can seem a little overwhelming to contemplate such a big change, but the support network among the military families is really remarkable. :grouphug: One of the things we have enjoyed most about our overseas assignments is the sense of community. :flower3:

Sounds like it was a great weekend!!
I would love to come up north and take my boys to see some "real" snow. I'm been trying to convince the DH for years, but it was either that or Disney. I would love to rent a cabin in CO the week of Christmas one year, or maybe 2 and have my family come.

Do you know what base he is stationed at? When my brother in law joined the Army, his first assignment was to Korea. He lived there for a year before coming back home to Texas to Fort Hood.

Your girls are too cute!! I love the yard. I would love to see that kind of snow again. I haven't been in real snow since a trip my junior year with a church to CO skiing. My freshman year I went on a skiing trip with my high school band. We went to Keystone CO and I remember sitting in the outside hot tub watching it snow. My mom, who was at the ski resort, said it was a white-out on the mountain.

Our weather has just been weird....wet, cool, cold, damp, humid, back to warm and muggy, now rain, and just icky. Southeast Texas for you...our weather guys are not quite getting it this week...the chances of rain are not matching up to the days we are actually getting it!!!!!! The temps are all over the place!!

That sounds just like our weather. A cousin of mine put on her FB update "who moved us all to Seattle with out telling us" talking about all the rain.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday. It's crazy and hectic here. I swear John is being so pitiful lately. At least every other day, he sits by me at my laptop and say "mom when are we ever going back to Disney World" or "mommy I would really like to go back to Disney World. I know we are planning on a trip next year, but I don't want to tell them just in case it falls through again. Anyway, I'm back off to cutting fabric. My mom's ebay store is selling so much that she needs my help, at least through January cutting fabric.

LOVE the pics of the girls playing in the leaves. Madison loved helping Tony rake the leaves and then jumping in them. So far, we don't have enough leaves on the ground to even make a small pile. I know it must stink to have snow in October, but those pictures are just beautiful!!! I love the first snowfall when everything is just beautifully white and powdery. We're supposed to get some rain/snow mix later this week. Yesterday was actually the 3 year anniversary of our October Surprise snowstorm.

It snowed overnight, but the trees still had their leaves. The trees couldn't handle all of the leaves plus the snow, so hundreds of trees were damaged. There were limbs all over the place and the area was without power for a long time. We lost power for 3 days, but my parents were without power for 8 days!! I'll never forget Madison opening her birthday presents dressed in layers upon layers of clothing. (her birthday is the 15th) We still had her birthday party at my parents house (with no power) and all of my relatives from Syracuse made the drive to celebrate with us. They couldn't believe their eyes once they got here!

Meghan..what a sweet memory for Madison!!!!! I know ya'll get sick of the long brutal winters...but ya'll have NO idea how boring our winters are...just plain yucky!! Not even pretty snow to play in...just wet and nasty. Ok...pity party's over!!! Ha!!

Yeah and if we get anything here, it's just little ice pellets kinda the size from a slushie. Although last winter we got enough snow to make a pitiful really really small snow-Mickey in our front yard. Although I might not love it as much if I had to deal with it everyday in the winter.
