Kim~ How funny! Your kids are hilarious!! Is that the same kid that's tryin' to sue you? Glad they are having fun....heard Gatlinburg is awesome! I just wanted to go to Memphis....get outta Texas!!!!!!!
did you take anything for sleep tonight? I actually started to feel some sinus pressure earlier and went ahead and took my allergy pill.....I already feel so much better...I take them at night because they make me so sleepy.....but, I forget to do it until around breakfast the next day!!! Ha!!! then the cycle starts all over again!!! i am nuts.

Yes it is the same one. I swear I could right an entire book on things that kid says. Some of my favs:
- Santa is a hoochie (but he said a word that started with a wh & ends in an e that I am afraid will get me in trouble on this site if I type it) b/c he is married yet he kisses other peoples mommy's. Any married man that would kiss another woman not his wife is a hoochie. He came to this conclusion after hearing the song "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.
- Santa does not use Elves to make toys. They are just a cover story b/c he doesn't want people to know how they are really made. The Eskimo's are Santa's slaves and they make the toys.
- I sent him to take a shower in my bathroom one night while I sat on my bed watching tv. After being in the shower only a couple of minutes he came out. When I told him he hadn't taken nearly a long enough shower he told me that he had, but alien's messed with the time space continuum making it look like he took a shorter shower. These same aliens have also messed up his bedroom and playroom after he cleaned them.
- I've heard they have a birthday party at Graceland for Elvis and anyone who shares his birthday every year. I was talking to him about taking him on his birthday on year. At first he was excited, but then he started freaking out and said: "No we can't go, I will be killed. Elvis didn't just die. He was killed because his birthday was on January 8th. The killer is still out there and uses that birthday party as a way to lure other people born on January 8th to Elvis' house so he can kill them."

Well no matter where you guys end up, I hope you have a great time. I would love to get out of the state right now. I didn't take anything last night, but was dead tired by midnight. David wanted to watch this Korean film on Netflix and for some reason, I could barely stay awake. It was a good movie though, strange, but good. Maybe I'm finally getting back to a normal sleeping schedule.

We got storms here yesterday too. Our power went out at 8ish and just finally came back on today at noon. I'm soooo thankful we decided to invest in a generator a few years back. We live in the woods and it has been a lifesaver!

Sarah- I was thinking about your brace and was wondering how you are at sewing, since you're so good at crosstitching- you could find some cute Disney fabric and make something fun for it. Your friend may walk on the other side of the park pretending not to know you but it would be cute!

Wow Shelly I never noticed your post count:scared1: You are a chatty one aren't you! How is it that you've managed to escape the tag fairy?
I love the new avatar too :goodvibes

I often wonder how the tag fairy decides what is "tag worthy". I did my own tag, and after it had been there for a while, I noticed that it had color added to it.

I find it completely CRAZY that everyone starts school differently. My brother and his wife teach in separate (public) school districts, and they start at different times! His wife's 180 days is June 25. I'm not sure when his is - probably MUCH earlier. My mom's 180 is June 17.

Of course, in MA, they also typically have the week in February and the week in April, which isn't terribly standard. Ann Arbor has similar, but I don't think anyone else in the county takes two weeks off!

I guess the February & April breaks are again more of a Northeast tradition; I grew up in NJ and also had the February and April breaks. The supposed rationale for the February break in colder climes is to reduce contagion. And for April it's Easter.

Of course, Eastern MA has to be different about that, too. April break isn't scheduled around Easter (or Passover) - it's scheduled around Patriot's Day! It commemorates the Battle of Lexington & Concord. But more importantly nowadays, at least around here, is that it's the day they run the Boston Marathon! I always have it off since I work about 100 yards from the finish line!

While I'm sure it's not true for your brother & his wife, some of the reasons for the different start & end times used to make sense. When we were an agrarian society, schools began and ended around planting & harvesting seasons. Those were obviously earlier in the South, so school started earlier & ended earlier. In the North, planting wasn't until May or June at the earliest, and harvest was in September/October. Now that the kids aren't needed to work the farms, it makes a lot less sense!

I would have thought I had said something funny with 11,000+ posts too!! :rotfl: But no tags for me. . . :confused3

We start 3 weeks from today too. Our teacher assignments will come in the mail this Friday. I was like you when I went to school we got our teacher for the following year on the last day of school. Guess things are different now. :confused3 After we get our teacher assignments they will get a letter from their teacher, and so will I - telling me what supplies they need and so on. Our supply list is usually pretty minimal, so no big deal. Each school (the boys are in different buildings) will have an Open House the week before school starts so the kids can meet their teachers and see their new rooms. Plus DS7's building will have a parent-teacher orientation.

Madison got her teacher in the mail yesterday. She is either a new teacher or a long-term sub because she's not in last year's yearbook or on her school's website. All of her friends have been calling her and asking which teacher she has. So far, none of her "best friends" are in her class which is a total bummer. Their moms were the other room parents with me and we all got along so well.

Our Open House isn't until the 3rd week of school and it's just for parents. Our supply list was actually shorter than last years! 1st and Kindergarden had the longest lists I had ever seen! I managed to shop at the perfect time because everything was super duper on sale. I'm hoping that we get some sort of letter from the teacher with some sort of info on her. We did last year and it was great. We also got to go into school a week early to drop off our bags of supplies and see the classroom.

Our school doesn't want us to send in any extra supplies due to the fact they have nowhere to store them. However, all of the supplies are for the whole classroom. We are only supposed to label the pencil box and art smock.

That's a shame none of her closest friends are in her class. I'm sure she'll make new ones but it's comforting on that first day to have a familiar face.

With all the Snowbird threads I'm sure something in there was tag fairy worthy! Especially as our vacations got closer- we got a little punchy, setting this creepy guy free :dancer:and having parties fifty times a day for no reason! :lmao:

It's sad that none of the best friends are in her class.
Our teachers were always posted at the school a couple weeks before classes started. That's when a lot of the parents started calling to get their kids switched into other classes, because they didn't like what they had heard about certain teachers. Many times some of my friends would be in my class when the list was posted, but their parents would get them switched out. It was sad. My Mom never cared which teachers we got, and we never had any problems.

College classes start on Monday...it's weird to not be going back.

In other news...Logan has been hearing a lot about BOLC II (Basic Officer Leadership Course) being canceled. This would be his first round of training after commissioning. Instead he would start BOLC III first, which would mean we could potentially get to move sooner. He tried to go ask questions today, but everybody was in a meeting at the ROTC office.
If he starts BOLC III before the end of the year, then unfortunately we probably wouldn't get to go on our trip to Disney in December. I guess we just get to wait and see. If we did get to go, he would hopefully have active duty status which would mean he'd get in free!

Where's Carrie when you need her...she always put him in his place! :confused3
What is the tag fairy?
From what I've gathered, the tag fairy can change your tags under your name- you'll know because it will be written in color like Wookie's tag. Only the tag fairy can make your tag colorful. Sometimes it's snippets of funny things you've said and sometimes it's random weird things that are funny. I'm surprised you haven't been tagged with all the funny moments in your TR's and PTR's! :goodvibes

Hey all~just checking in! Drew starts 1st grade tomorrow. 1/2 day tomorrow and full day on Friday. They evidently do this to get the kindergarteners used to going to school, so they're not thrown into a whole week! LOVE his teacher, but their rosters are down! Last year both K's had 19 kids, now they have 15 or 16. More 1:1 attn I guess, as long as they don't raise my tuition anymore than they already have!

We're working on potty-training Keaton. :scared1: He turned 3 last month, and really didn't seem to have too much interest in it. I got to daycare Monday, and they wanted us to start sending him in just undies, because he does great there...WHAT??? He always tells me, "No, I went on the potty yesterday." And if I sit him there, he'd just sit most of the time and say "Nuthin!". So we've had two great days of being pull-up free!!! If he does well all week he can get moved downstairs with most of his friends that moved to the older class. You have to be fully potty trained to be down there, so hopefully that will motivate him! WHO KNOWS!! He's very headstrong, so he'll do what he wants to do!!:confused3 (But if he's potty trained I'll save $10/week PLUS the cost of the pullups)! BRING IT ON K-MAN!! YOU CAN DO IT!!:cheer2:

My sewing skills are subpar, sadly. :(

However, I found this thing today. So I bought two! I wonder if the fabric is good for iron-on transfers? I could totally doll those up for Disney! What do you think?

Does that mean you won't be there, cheering for my husband next April? ;)

We could also discuss Boston and their "Evacuation Day" holiday. AKA St. Patrick's Day. Funny how that works!

So my mommy is going to come out and help take care of me, after my surgery, since I'm going to be non-weight bearing for SIX weeks. I sent her the email saying "I'll be discharged on the 14th, feel free to arrive any time after that." She's driving out, which will be great, as we're a one car household.

...she told me she plans to leave on the 12th and take two days to arrive.

Hee!!

I have FOUR weeks and ONE day until I go to Disney!! HEY MICKEY! WAIT FOR ME!

We sure could! And you know, to meet you after all this time, I'd brave the transportation into town! Just let me know when and where!

Sarah, post it over on the creative boards...I know they can tell you. Those ladies are smart as whips!!! I bet if something can be done...and done Disneyfied cutely, they can tell you!!! I am glad your mom can help you out!!
Do you like to read? you better stockpile!

Ironing on such a stretchy material might be a little iffy though. But even if you can't decorate it Disney style, it looks like it will make your brace much more comfortable and bearable.:thumbsup2

:cool1::cool1: I will! And that is VERY brave!! I think I'll probably end up on the train to Boston. My brother and his wife have claimed the start line. Another friend will be at Newton, another at the Wellsley Station... and we'll have to sort out where my parents (I bet they do start/finish), and my aunt/uncle/cousin are going to be. Maybe even the husband's parents will turn up!

THAT SAID! :dance3::dance3:

I love to read! And, even better, my mom is a librarian! I'll have her look up new/interesting books before she comes out and she can go to the library for me. (I love our library system - I get online, pick the books I want from either the town's system OR the state of Michigan, and they get pulled and sent to the library of my choice for pick-up!

Thanks for the advice. As Kim notes below, the stretchiness might make it more difficult but I'll ask!

I suppose I could always find patches and pin them on? But I guess I'll ask... even still, those things look like it'll make all the difference in the world. I gotta admit, I originally went "but it'll be so OBVIOUS!" until I realized that OH HEY I've got a brace that's almost the whole length of my leg. What's unobvious about that?!

I've got FOUR WEEKS!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Wookie - your kids crack me up!!!

YIKES!!! Haven't seen him in FOREVER!! :rotfl2:

We'd LOVE to have 15-6 kids in our classes!! Poor DS had 29 in his K class last year, although the teacher did have a full-time aide. This year he has 28 with no aide in the class! So far, so good, though. I can't imagine dealing with 28 6 year olds!!! :scared1::scared1:

Sarah- Sorry but yeah I think you're going to have a hard time being unobvious with that brace- might as well have fun with it and do it up Disney style!

I can't imagine dealing with 28 6 year olds!!! :scared1::scared1:

I had to LOL at that one :lmao: My last year teaching before DS was born I topped off at 29 first graders, 3 of which were special needs- downs, aspergers, and schizophrenia/manic depressive. Let's just say I was VERY relieved when DS was born and I decided to be a SAHM. When we needed a second income again there was no way you were dragging me back in the public schools. I turned my home into a day care and am loving it:cutie: . I get to wear sweats to work and can DIS at naptime- doesn't get any better!

Hey Gals! :goodvibes

I just dropped around to see what was happening! My eyes nearly bulged out of my head when I saw Disco Dale dancin' up a storm! :scared1: My oh my wouldn't Peaches be alarmed! :lmao:

It HAS been quite a while since we had a party for no real reason at all! ;) Anybody want to volunteer to host a party? Maybe a 4 week countdown party for Sarah? Anybody? NO!

Okay, I will then!

:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: party:
