Do we remember you!!!!! :scared1: Of course we remember you! I think of you whenever I look at my photopass pics from our last trip. ;) How have you been Mel? Nice ticker BTW...details please!

Back to school time at my house this morning. Where on earth did this summer go!!!! Andrew did great and should be home at 2:00. I did great too- no tears this time but I have spent most of my day staring at the clock wondering what he's doing and how his day is. :rolleyes1 Emily has been missing him like crazy. It's been a tough day for her too.

Off to bake some chocolate chip cookies for when he gets home! :goodvibes

I still have 13 wonderful days until Madison goes back to school. I hate the 1st day of school! Even though she'll be starting 3rd grade I still cry like a baby.

My d will be starting her senior year in college next week! :scared1: Today the freshmen move in and orientation starts. I still cry like a baby - oh, wait - now that I think of it, that was when I paid the tuition bill! :lmao:

Ahh! Thanks! I've been good! Very busy :) I've been planning our Disneyland trip and that's fun and exciting! My Mom has had a rough couple of years battling cancer and she has always wanted to take my boys to Disneyland so she decided this is the year!

How are things with you? Your kids are looking big :)

HI MEL!!! I want to hear more about your Disneyland plans too!

Kim - ooh, a big first grader! He looks pretty happy! He must be home by now. Hope it went well.

My kids don't go back until 9/7. Sarah's dying to go back, she's sick of daycare (no best friends there!) and summer with nothing to do, can't see half of her school pals...blah blah. Paige is fine with waiting. Her BFF is a neighbor. I will be fine sending them off. I don't cry anymore, just marvel at how fast time goes by. Some days it's just easier to ship them off for the day. :)

Tomorrow and Friday I'm off of work and going to do some fun stuff with the kids. We will hit the MN State Fair tomorrow, maybe get some new sneakers for Paige, maybe a little school shopping (I think Sarah will need pants this year!). Next week I go back to working 5 days a week (like most of the rest of the world, but still - poor me!) so I want to enjoy this last Friday off.

HI MEL!!! I want to hear more about your Disneyland plans too!

Hi! :goodvibes

Let me start off by saying - as a kid we use to go to Disneyland almost every year but I haven't been back in 11 years :scared1: So this is my first time actually planning a Disneyland trip becuase my Mom was always in charge of that stuff. It so diffrent planning a Disneyland trip so I don't have too many plans ;) Here is what I have so far:

Oct 17 - Arrive @ 2pm get to the hotel (Courtyard Marriot - they have kids suites) and they off to DL!!!
We have a reservation (DL'ers don't say ADR's ) at Big Thunder Ranch BBQ @ 5:30
Hoping to catch F! tonight...I really wanted to do the F! dessert seating but for all 7 of us it was going to cost $413 :scared1: That's just too much!

Oct 18 - DL & DCA all day! 5:20 we have a reservation for Goofy's Kitchen. We might try and catch WOC @ 8:15 if it's not too crazy.

Oct 19 - 8am I have my boys booked into the BBB for the knights package...my DS did it when we went to WDW and he got soooo much attention he loved it
Then more DL & DCA all day and that night we have Mickey's Halloween Party! This is the one thing I am most excited for :goodvibes I just bought my boys there halloween costumes - they are going to be skelotons pirate:

Oct 20 - We are off to Universal Studios for the day! On the way home we are going to stop by Knotts Berry Farm and go to dinner at Mrs. Knotts (it's family tradition to eat here everytime we go to DL) and we also need to stock up on the best jam in the world :)

Oct 21 - We drive to San Diego and hopefully we'll be at the SD Zoo for noon!

Oct 22 - We are spending the day at Sea World :) I really want to eat Dinner with Shamu that night but I think they have cancelled it :sad1:

Oct 23 - That morning we'll go to the beach and maybe out to Hollywood to look around on our way back to the airport.

That's all I have planned so far...I guess I don't have much else to plan though

Of course we remember you!! How cool...make sure to take lots of DL pics for us... I don't think we will ever make it there!!

I will for sure take lots of pictures! I never thought I would make it to WDW but I ended up going 2 years in a row :wizard: So you never know :confused3

Mel - your trip sounds great!! I haven't done any of those places since I was in high school - a few *ahem* years back! I'll be anxious to hear about it and how the weather is that time of year.
I heard on the DIS Unplugged podcast that people were needing fastpasses to get in to see WOC - so be sure to check on that!

Next time we have to start a new Snowbirds thread, we'll have to be sure to PM you with the l ink! We don't want to lose you again!

WOC is crazy! The lines for the fastpasses can be 2 hours long, and then you still have to get there 1-2 hours early and stand in line :confused3 And then they cram you in there to watch a show and there is NO seating so if you have small kids (like me) they may not get to see everything :headache: Were trying to decided if it's worth it :confused3 You can buy picnic lunches that gives you a fastpass but I haven't fully decided yet if waiting 1-2 hours for a show is a good use of our limited time....I still have 23 more days to decided before I can buy the picnic lunch....hopefully the WOC craze will slow down in Sept/Oct :)

Well now that I found the thread you'll never get rid of me

OK, I have to ask - what's WOC?

Shhhhhhhh. Don't tell DH but I treated myself and just ordered this http://www.laughingplacestore.com/Product-2947.asp :goodvibes I wanted it when we were at Disney in January but they were out of it and now they don't have it online anymore. I was worried it might be discontinued so I ordered it! I've wanted it since our honeymoon in 2001 when we I fell in love with the music from the Tapestry of Dreams parade (no longer there :sad2:) and Illuminations. It's my birthday next month so I'm considering it an early gift to myself.

My eyes did fill up for a minute but I at least waited until AFTER he was on the bus and pulling away- a big step for me from last year. ;) Last year I was blubbering the night before school started and didn't stop for a week. I think it makes a difference that he has new administration, a better teacher this year, smaller class size and I'm not as concerned about things this year.

:rotfl::lmao::laughing: So glad I have a while before college!

Good for you and your mom planning the trip! The memories you make will be priceless! I've been well...let me know when you figure out a way to make my babies stop growing! It's going way too fast for me!
Your DL plans look fantastic except you left out that you wanted me to go with you and that you would pay for it. Can't wait to see pics!

I have the exact same cd!!!! It is awesome. I never saw the Tapestry of Dreams parade, but I LOVE the music from IllumiNations. It is a fantastic cd. I'm so glad I bought it last year!

I will be a mess after I drop her off at school (she's spoiled, I bring her and pick her up from school). I've heard wonderful things about her 3rd grade teacher, so that makes me feel better. She had a brand new-to-the-school teacher last year, but she ended up being THE best 2nd grade teacher.

Well, I'm home again. I nearly got out of the car and kissed the driveway when we pulled in. I resisted. I'd also like to celebrate on Facebook, but my SIL is also on Facebook, but she'd probably get offended. :rotfl:

Monday night, Jeremy's brother and SIL asked my FIL/J's dad if I was mad at them. Mad? No. Frustrated beyond all believe? Yes. From things like my SIL ignoring her daughter and our MIL's requests that she tend to her... to my SIL telling me that my husband, effectively, needed to suck it up($70 round of golf, without checking with J, expecting J to drive... and J just not playing well)... to the fact that my BIL took an entire adult meal for the baby, leaving my MIL and I to split one. I figured silence was probably better than saying anything stupid that I'd regret. Or that J would regret. :) It was a LOT of fun, spending time with my niece, too, and it's not her fault her parents were terrible. ;)

But I'm happy to be home to my cats and my bed.

PLUS! My entire family is now booked for our Disney trip next July! We'll be in separate rooms, no one will be stealing meals, ... and it's DISNEY!

Anyway, sorry for venting. Thanks for listening!!

Kim - I have that same CD! In December I went on a CD binge and bought all the park CDs I saw! Love it! I need to find the Soarin music somewhere though - I can never remember it.

Sarah - glad you survived!!! It's hard traveling with the in-laws - I should know! Sometimes it's better just to stay quiet and try to move on. Some people just won't understand anyway, and somehow it will end up being all your fault. I'm glad you were able to have some fun with your niece and you have your next trip to look forward to!!

I don't think I could ever do a Disney trip with my parents. My mom really wants all of us (parents, me & my fam, little sis, older sis &BIL) to go to Disney in 2012. In theory it sounds great, but not quite in reality. When we went all together in 2006, my mom pretty much monopolized Madison and Tony & I were super aggravated by that. It was her 1st trip to WDW and we wanted to sit with her on the rides, etc. That didn't quite happen.

Now, in 2012, we'll have another child and my sis & BIL should have a child by then too. I don't think my sis & BIL will want to do what we did and have to share their child's first trip with everyone. I'm fine with everyone meeting up for a meal each day and then doing their own thing, but my mom will not like that. She will want us to spend every waking minute together.

Since we've now gone on 2 WDW vacations with just our family, we realize how much we love it! I love my family to death, but I could not go to WDW with all of them for that long. I can see all of the arguments now!!!! (not that we are a family that likes to argue, it just happens when people start to get on each other's nerves).

Hey Mel! How are ya?!?! You're plans sound great. I actually was at DL in July and had a ball. WOC lines were INSANE! We wanted to go so badly, but couldn't make it. We did Fantasmic Dessert (this was truly one of our great spoils of our entire trip). We didn't do a ton of planning in regards to DL, just the dessert. We called on Friday to get "reservations" for Goofy's Kitchen for Saturday and got our pick of times (something that still amazes me).

Have you ever been to the San Diego Zoo? We also spent a day touring LA. Any questions, just ask...I'll try to remember what happened (mainly by looking back through pictures!:rotfl:)

Also, I just realized I haven't posted any DL pictures....might have to get around to uploading a few of those.

XXXXX

HOW IS THE SUMMER BASICALLY OVER?!?!?!?:sad2: Every year it seems like summer just flys right by. A couple kids that I babysat for are starting school within the next week, I feel so old.
