~Snowbird Chat 2~

Becca- I hope you find something out soon so you know where you're going to be!

We stayed up and watched Cars too! Cars Land looks amazing!!!! My kids were both asking to go the whole time we were watching the movie. Poor Dh! :lmao:

I guess one of my friends went to Carsland recently. I saw a picture she posted of her there, and recognized it, but didn't know where she was. It was so weird, because Gideon was watching Cars 2 the next day, and I was like "wait a minute!"

It's made me really excited about planning a trip to California at some point.

EDIT: Wow...apparently she works for Disney Imagineering! We were never really close friends, but we knew each other in college, so she's been on my Facebook friends list for a long time. Man, maybe I shouldn't have given up on that architecture degree!

Good for your friend!

Carsland looks amazing, I really would like to go!

How is everyone? I'm in the last 9 days (as of today) of work before summer holidays. The mother of my charges is a school teacher, so I get July and August off. I'll miss my squirts terribly while I'm away, but it'll still be nice to have a vacation!

I work for a large University, but staff-side. We've been on summer since April 30. It's pretty nice! Pretty quiet, but pretty nice.

Starting this week, our summer starts to get crazy
-friend arrives tomorrow. leaves Saturday or Sunday
-next Friday night, we fly to visit the husband's parents and fly back on July 4.
-mid-July (date TBD), my brother, his wife, and my niece arrive for a long weekend.
-A few days after that, a work deadline for grant applications
-can't take a lot of time off until after August 16th, too bad our anniversary is the 12th
-August 18th: we're going north for a long weekend. Unless my husband would rather see his family for his birthday instead
-then holy cow, it's labor day!

OK, so I'm leaving tonight for the wedding road trip. So that means this morning is chiropractor, bank, target, then meeting my parents, brother and his new fiance(:goodvibes) for lunch. Then home to finish packing. In the process I need to find my swimsuit that is M.I.A., hope that somehow my last 2 loads of laundry miraculously get down by themself. Oh yeah and do some grocery shopping in there too! Ugh!

Here we go!!!

Lots to do!! But, you will get it all done! We always do, somehow!:confused3 Have a wonderful time!!! Congrats on getting a new 'sister'!

Hi everyone! Well, today I said goodbye to my 20's!! I used to be scared about turning 30, but today I'm actually excited. I had both of my kids while I was in my 20's, celebrated 10 years of marriage and there are so many more memories in there as well.....including "meeting" all of you wonderful ladies! Last night Tony and I went out to dinner and it was lovely. We went to a restaurant that right next to the Niagara River and it was so pretty. We each had a lobster dinner (2 small South African lobster tails) and it was delicious. We then went to Best Buy so I could pick out my gift...a new digital camera! I got a Canon and it's so nice. I can't wait to use it on vacation!

Today, I went and saw "Brave" with Madison. It was so good! The scenery that Pixar created was stunning and I LOVED all of the music. Merida is such an awesome princess too...love the crazy red hair!

Hope you've all been enjoying your weekend!

Happy Birthday Meghan!!
We bought a Canon for our Anniv back in April... I haven't used it a whole lot yet, but I did take it on our little trip last week to get some pictures of houses for our business. It is wonderful and you are really gonna enjoy it!!!!
And yes, Brave is AWESOME!! I took the kids Friday, and we went back today to take Mike and the projector was broken. Didn't feel like going to the next town so we will try again this week..I can't wait to see her at Disney!!!!

Happy birthday, Meghan!

Brave was really good, I saw it for the third time today with my Marathoner friends (my friends and I hold Disney Movie Marathons several times a year for several days straight and have become known as The Marathoners - we go all out for these Marathons). Definitely worth a watch.

I want to see Brave!!

Well I'm in south Carolina right now. We were supposed to head to Florida tomorrow, but since its "raining " we have decided to hang out here for a few days. The bride says the wedding will still happen on Thursday, so we'll head down Wednesday and go from there.
On top of all that one of the fires in Colorado was in Estes Park, where my grandpa lives. Stubborn old man refuses to leave...grr. they lost 20 some odd buildings however that particular fire is taken care of, but if they could get some rain out there it would be wonderful.

Well I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Enjoy your week!

Haven't used the new camera yet, but I already love it.

Brave was amazing! I need to go buy some of the music on itunes!

Brave was so good....definately a must see.

My uncle lives in Orlando and he said it's been raining nonstop....perfect time for WDW!!! No lines!

y'all remember Jen, right? she used to be a Snowbird--JenJolt is her screen name I think!! Drawing a total blank if that is not right--anyway she is at Disney right now...she's at MK and is having a ball!! apparently, lines are great due to rain!!
I,personally, hate being wet. Just don't like that feeling AT ALL...of course, if I was wearing a bathing suit and cover up it might be different:rotfl: So, another strike for Summer from me!! LOL!!
I told Mike last night I can not WAIT for our trip!!!! But that it's still quite a way off, and he goes 'it's only 4 months, right?' I was impressed he knew it so quickly!! And yes, 4 months, but still!!! I am excited to see how much reno's are finished, or what' s gonna be diff when we go. I have a really crazy question. Those Scrims that keep being in MK...what is the point of that anyway?

I've been keeping up with Jen's trip on Facebook....of course she went to the Haunted Mansion first!

I don't like being wet either, but the rain does keep the crowds away!

The scrims are used for buildings that are being repainted....that's what I've heard anyways!

I heard that too, but when I look at them (when we are there) I don't see how they are painting under that!!! And how the heck do they not smother!! LOL!!! Heat & paint fumes= headache!!! :rotfl:
Of course, they are all high tech and figure it out, but it just seems so strange, I guess it's the best way to keep little hands (or big ones) out of fresh paint!!!!

I don't think they're actually painting under there during the day. I'd imagine that they take the skrims down at night to do their painting and then put them back when they're done. I'm sure it takes quite a bit of time to get those elaborate signs, store fronts, etc fully painted and they don't want the guests to see things half painted. Just a guess!

What did you all think of Brave..... I have mixed feelings about it.... love Merida when she was little... what a cutie... didn't like how they made the husband look like an idiot...

Guess what.... just booked a weekend trip for Sept 27-Oct 1 for the food and wine festival... yeah!!! staying at Shades of Green.... they had such a good rate... $92.50 a night (total - no tax)....whoooo

unfortunately they do that with the husbands/dads looking stupid in all shows and movies now. It's sad, but most people don't have a problem with it--it does bother me too. It's such a loss of respect.

We saw Brave on Friday. I liked a lot of it, but as my DH pointed out, parts of the storyline seemed like they copied Brother Bear too much. Even the fishing scene. I hope I'm not spoiling anything for those who haven't seen it.

All the men looked like buffoons in it I thought. Not sure why that's necessary, the whole point was to show this strong young woman, wouldn't it make sense that her father (who at one time was strong and brave too) would also be that way rather than silly?

I really liked Merida though. I thought she made a great heroine. I won't spoil the ending, but I liked the end result.
Oh, and the animation? HOLY CATS! The scenery was so well done, it looked real to me!! (and I've seen Scotland) - just beautiful.

Great deal on SoG! I used to love it when we could stay there. Now we have no military left in the family. :(

update on our Nov trip...DS16 has decided he DEFINITELY doesn't want to go on this trip. We have been back and forth if he was going for a couple of months-we booked it without him then he changed his mind, so I added him. Now he wants out again:laughing: So,..I took him off yesterday--he does not want to miss a week of school again, especially with no guarantee that any of the new stuff will be open until after Tday....we already have a couple of friends/family that he will be spending the night with ....all that too say...we are switching to the WL!! We are very excited! I have us booked in a Courtyard view right now and will probably call back to request a balcony and change it to a bunk bed room. We really, really, wanted a Standard Room Club Level,,it's showing that I can get just the room(not a package) online, but the CMs say that aren't even seeing that on their screens. So...I will continue to call and see what opens up.. I am tempted to call EVERYDAY!!! LOL... I was surprised with us knowing how much slower this week of the year is that all the club levels were taken. Only thing I could think of is that they are holding some for when the fall discount becomes available. Anyone have room recommendations? We stayed there the last night of our trip 2 or3 years ago and were in a Jr. Suite. It was awesome, but $$$$$. I really liked the lounge/food options. That's part of the draw for us to be there--I will be disappointed if I can't get Club Level. Just because I know we can swing it this time and I know how good their CL is!!!
