You know that saying about Nice guys finishing last...I'm feeling it today. Our November trip is on the rocks again. One of my daycare families may be leaving after I was nice and held a spot for them for free and passed on other prospective families while she's on maternity leave. They've been with me for 3 years and now she's thinking about staying home. It's good for her family. I just wish I would have known that last month when I was getting phone calls from new families and I told them all I was full. That's 3 less kids that I was counting on for the fall. Not to mention the other family whose son may not come back if she can't find another teaching job. This summer has been tight but we knew to expect it since most of my kids are teacher kids. I just didn't expect it to stay tight through the fall. Worst case scenario this fall I could be down to 3 of my 7 spots filled and possibly postponing Disney to who knows when. We can't drain our savings for a vacation in this wishy washy economy. It just wouldn't be smart.

Hello there everyone. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how it's almost August. Where did summer go? August is always a full month of stuff for me, so it will also fly by. Which does also mean that I'm closer to my Dec trip...yay!!

So I'm heading outside to go for a run, finally cooled down enough here in WI that I can actually breathe outside.

Aww Kim, I'm sorry. I hope somebody suddenly decides to let you watch their kids, so you can go to Disney in November.

The other day I priced a 3 week trip to Disney. We would be there for Logan's birthday, my little brother's marching band trip, and our anniversary.

Since I would never pay Disney prices over that time period (Christmas and New Year's) this was my plan:
4 days at the WL
1 week somewhere using Armed Forces Vacation Club
10 days or something like that at SoG
finishing it off with 4 days or so at POR

We would have to get a rental car for part of the trip, but we would be able to use ME express to get to and from the airport on the ends. Even so, it would be a VERY pricey trip. Logan did say that he's not completely opposed to the idea, I just have to get to him on the right day. It would probably be better to just stay the whole time entirely off property, but I'm having a difficult time consigning myself to that, especially since 3 weeks at Disney in one year would likely mean we wouldn't return for quite a while, unless I could convince him of a short trip before the required APs would expire.

I guess I need to sit down and figure out the implications for his leave time, and how much money we'll be spending to travel while we're here....again.

In reality, it would be less expensive to just wait until he's done with training, and pay for the baby's ticket, but y'all know how Disney math works.

thanks Sheree!!!! yep...it was great!!! Mike and I both decided we need new watches for our bdays this year...his was in May, but we just hadn't had time to go and look, so he said he would just wait till my bday and we would look together...I got a Seiko for my graduation from High school from my parents...that was almost 20 years ago!!!! so, I keep a watch forever!! Any suggestions...I looked at several places Sat, but cnt decide what I really want...anyone have a watch they can't live without? We looked at Muvado,rolex (just glanced!)..didn't like any of those for me, Seiko, found one,...Tag, found one, and Citizen..found a couple. Oh,..and Breitling-which the one of theirs I liked was $11,000!!!! Can you believe it? My cousin has a Bulova she's in love with, and wants me to look at those..so that's the next brand to check out.. but I don't know..the more I look, the more I am not sure...I guess I will have to look a couple of more times to decide!

Sheree--I think I still owe you a PM about DLP dining. I'm glad to know your trip is still on track! It's in March, right? What part of March do you expect to be in Paris? I would love to try to meet up with you there!

Kim, I'm sorry to hear your daycare numbers are dwindling. Do you advertise, or just word-of-mouth? Seems like surely there must be a family in your area in need of loving care for their children. I hope they find you!

Welcome back!
We are still planning on going in March. I just visited with my friend who's in town from London on Sunday! Our plans are to be in Paris March 11 - 16 or close to those dates. I might add a day to go to Versailles. I want to have three Paris days and 2 DLP days if I can.
Any tips you have - I'd LOVE them! I am going to get some guide books soon and make some more lists of things to do and estimate our budget. It should be simple - it will be BIG!

I know my cousin, looking for preschools, sent a check to reserve her son's spot. A month later, they sent the check back, saying they were closing after 40 years! By that time, all the other preschools were full, so he's on waiting lists. There may be some parents that you've turned down in that kind of position.

thanks for the Happy Birthdays Ladies!!!! It's been crazy here today!!We took off yesterday because my mom came down for a long weekend for my bday...so, we had to reaaaally get busy today, ...plus we had tons of laundry! I have the kids on rotating chores, but the upstairs we all do together and the Lego area was a wreck! So,...we are all good as far as that goes now...dh has some people coming to look at cabinets and stuff-he may build for them pretty soon, so we have to get it all nice and clean by then! LOL

Not too much going on here. Just doing some back to school shopping and getting ready for the trip. Just over 4 weeks to go now!!

And still working on house-training this puppy!!

Hi guys!!
I just looked at my August calendar and holy cow - it's full! I better get going on the back to school shopping because it will be here before you know it! We don't start until after Labor Day, thank goodness.

I have just signed on to be a Pampered Chef consultant - so that's going to keep me busy for now. I have to do 4 shows in 30 days - of course, the next 30 days are so busy already - I must be crazy!
But I love their stuff - and this will bring some extra $$ for Disney!

Otherwise, we have a weekend trip to Fargo (for an airshow DH wants to see), my best friend is going to visit from PA for a couple days, the girls and I are going camping for a weekend, dance auditions, DH is working a bunch of events in the evenings, family birthdays (MINE!), and oh, yeah, that daytime job I have!! Nah, not too busy!

Shelly - are you getting packed? I'm so excited for you!!

Becca - did I read somewhere that Gideon just turned 1???

Okay - have to get back to work. I miss a day on the boards and I'm pages behind in all these TRs I'm subscribed to - it's horrible!

hey ladies....well, ...we fiiiiiiinally got our school work caught up and cleaned all day yesterday and today so the house can be showed today...after 5. Guess what? Guy calls Mike at 5 and says they just cant make it today,.maybe another time? AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!! I am exhausted...I told him the need to come tomorrow, after that there is no guarantee on the state of this house..since I go back to our office to work next week....Our secretary is about to be on Maternity and I gotta go take care of the office a couple of days a week...so the cleaning will be sketchy for a while!!!
Kim...got any new clients?
LilMermaid...we started Aug9th one year when I was in high school, it was nuts. I think most kids here go back on the 24th.

Yeah...it's definitely a dream. It would be more likely, and less expensive, for me to go on multiple trips the following year. After I started looking into the 3 week thing, it occurred to me that my 5th anniversary is in 2014. If I got my 3 week trip at the end of 2012, I probably wouldn't get a trip for my anniversary.
Then there's the family stuff that would probably keep me from going on any trips that year. My Mom is turning 50 in 2013, which means we'll have to spend some time with her. I wish I could convince her to let me take her to Disney, just me and her and possibly the baby, but it's not really her thing. She would enjoy it, but it's not what she would pick. It is possible that I could take her down to Florida and we could do a few days at the beach, and a few days at Disney, but I don't know. It's definitely something to consider, especially if Logan IS in training through June of that year. I think my Mom and I would both really enjoy a road trip, but again Disney wouldn't be the ideal destination for her. Maybe if we went the other direction...
Anyways, forgive my rambling as usual....

YES! Master Gideon turned 1 yesterday (well...today for most of you). Logan spent most of the day dealing with the rain we got. 24 inches or something like that, and there was significant flooding. He finally got home around 6pm last night, so Gideon got his Daddy for a few hours on his birthday. At least they let him sleep at home last night, before heading back. I haven't ventured far recently, but apparently the damage is incredible. Mudslides. Flooding. Power Lines down. Luckily, our apartment is on the 8th floor, so all we had to deal with was a few hours with no electricity, but many of the Koreans weren't as lucky. Some got swept away by the water. Others sustained serious damage to their homes and businesses

I wonder if I'll get any sleep on a July 28th ever again?
