~Snowbird Chat 2~

I found out today that one of my daycare moms will not have a position next year due to school budget cuts. I feel terrible for her. They just moved here and have 3 kids. I have her youngest in my care and they are such a wonderful family. I'd hate to lose them. Please pray that she is able to find something between now and next fall. I'm so afraid of what the schools are going to be like next year with all the budget cuts. The classes are going to be huge and there will be less instructional staff to go around. Right now Andrew has 18 in his class and it has made a huge difference from last year when he had 30. This economy is so frustrating.

Sheree- I say you leave tomorrow morning and call AKL on the way to see if they have any rooms available early. I think weather is a great reason to add a few days to your trip :thumbsup2 Seriously though...I really hope the weather cooperates for you to have a safe departure! :pixie:

Shawna- Our school district is closed April 20-25 (Wed-Mon). We don't get much of a spring break.

Our Spring Break is the week before Easter. We're not doing anything that week as far as I know. Probably just hang out and relax. :goodvibes

Just got the Free Dining pin code in the mail today. I really wish I could convince Tony that we need to go again this year. It's for arrivals most nights 4/23-8/13. You get free QSDP at Values and Mods and free DDP at Deluxe and Deluxe Villas. I'd love to go back this year.

Hopefully the road trip goes smoothly or Rose and Crown will become the first stop on your itinerary? :lmao: Maybe you should print out a pic of it and stick it to the front of the hood facing the windshield so it will be like leading a horse with an apple. Might get him to drive a little faster.

Great idea!!! :lmao: It was actually HIS idea to push through on the first day so I am NOT complaining! The kids on the other hand... ;) They have done 13 hrs LOTS of times but at the end they are practically climbing out of the car by the last 45 mins. I think 15-16 hrs might be a bit much but he REALLY wants to do it so...?? :rolleyes1 We shall see what happens!!! Hopefully they will sleep lots the first few hours (planning to leave around 4 or 5 am) so the distractions I bring along will last for a while! :goodvibes

I have lots of plans for the weekend! Packing, packing, shopping, packing, um let's see, maybe some packing!!! And worrying! This upcoming storm for Tuesday has me wondering when we should leave!!! It's going to get interesting. Pray that it doesn't hit where and when they think as of today. I need it to wait until Tuesday night and to go NORTH!!!

Oh NO - PLEASE don't wish it up here!! I REALLY don't want any more snow up here! Send it out west !!! ;) :lmao:

The latest weather forecast calls for the storm to pass mostly south of here (Kim you're safe!!), but we will probably hit a bunch of rain on the way down. Better than snow, but it will slow us down. The new tentative plan is to pull the kids out of school a couple hours early and get going earlier and hope we don't hit too much yucky weather. At least if we have to drive slower, the earlier start will help get us there before too late on Wednesday.

Thinking about doing online check in for our night at Pop. Any thoughts??
Yay or Nay? I've never done it before, have no real requests (it's only one night) and hope if we get there a little later, the room will be ready and check in would be quick.

Wanted to check in. Dealing with a sick baby. He was in the hospital again last week because of breathing issues. We think his asthma was triggered by something viral or an ear infection. Whatever the reason, it's taken a good week to getnhim straightened out. Now I need to catch up on some Dis.

Mindy, that's too bad. Hope he's okay. Paige's BFF has something they call viral induced asthma. When she gets a cold, it goes straight to her lungs and she can get pneumonia easily. Been that way since she was very little. She's also had to have her adenoids/tonsils out. Hopefully your son won't have to deal with that, but I guess it would be good to know.

Okay, friends, we are just about packed!!! Just have to do that last load of laundry tomorrow to pack a few more things and the last minute toiletries that we need between now and Tuesday.

I hope you all had a good weekend!

Mindy, sorry to hear about your little guy!! Glad he is getting better!! Keep us posted!!!

WOOT WOOT Sheree...you're almost there!!! I can't wait to hear all about how the surprise goes!!!! I love the pre-Disney Eve feeling!!!:woohoo:

YAY!!! Only one more day Sheree!!! I would totally do online check in! It means all your paperwork is already processed and all you need to do is grab your packet and your room keys and GO!!! We did online check in for POFQ last year and I was literally done check in less than 4 mins!!! :cool1:

Mindy...sorry your little man had to go thru the hospital bit again!!Hopefully he will be on the mend!!!
Sheree~I know you are soooo excited!!! Be safe on your travels and give us all the tiny details!!!

Mindy - Sorry about that little guy!! Hope he's feeling better soon!!
Sheree - Ahh you're so close...Have a great time, take lots of pictures, enjoy some adult beverages for all of us!

Well basically today is my only chance to pack for my trip. I was supposed to have a few days off later in the week, however someone at work decided to literally walk out last week and naturally it would be someone that actually had responsibilites there too. So we're a little swamped. However it will be nice to get some overtime before I go. I basically had to beg and plead to have 1 day off this week to get my stuff done.

I've got laundry going, suitcase is out (may need to upgrade to bigger one), bed is full of stuff already and it's only 1/8 of what I need, grocery list is ready.

Have a great week everyone!

Please excuse the interruption, but -

One and a half weeks until London!:dance3::woohoo::cheer2:

Mindy, sorry to hear about the little one!!

Woo Hoo for Free Dining!! I'm waiting very impatiently to find out if free dining will be available for the fall.

Don't give up on the chiro. I was sore for the first few times too but in the long run it is well worth it. I haven't been in a while (insurance doesn't cover it anymore ) but I may have to start back up again.

I wasn't expecting ANYTHING for July dates, so this was a huge surprise. I had to explain it to my family, who always seems surprised that we can get the most current discounts even after booking. Haha.

The chiro isn't covered by insurance, so it's out of pocket. The most recent visit, she didn't try to sell any supplements, which was nice.

However. I am COVERED in bruises. Bruises? Really? So I cancelled my follow-up and we'll see how I feel once the bruises are gone.

It's going to be an interesting July trip, especially with a nine month old. They still don't know what she's allergic to, food-wise, but apparently she's got the tell-tale signs. They're hoping that when she moves to solid foods it'll be easier and better for her. Anyway, she's a little crank still and I can't imagine that sort of heat is going to improve her attitude! I know it doesn't help mine! ;)

Perhaps if she and I both get overheated, we'll go back for naps together - hahaha. On the upside, we tend to be a family of Disney commandos, so having a little one will definitely force us all to slow down. It can only be a good thing!

Poor guy! One of my little daycare guys has asthma symptoms whenever he gets a virus/cold. He's a pro at using the nebulizer with me! It's so hard when they are so little and struggle like that. Hope he's feeling better and stays that way

It's been a rough day here.
We got a call that Jason's dad is back in the hospital. He's lost 15lbs since his appt two weeks ago. It's more than physical though. He's depressed, angry, snapping at people- a completely different person from the man he once was. :sad2: This whole experience has changed him so much. He went in yesterday and started telling the dr he's been following their food plan and taking all his meds. Jason's mom blew up and told him to quit lying to the dr. The dr told him he's not fooling anyone and he certainly knows he's not been following the instructions. They are insisting on a feeding tube. He's refusing. They are pushing for hospice. He's refusing. Jason's mom says she can't handle being his nurse anymore. It's just really stressful for everyone at this point.

Oh wow Kim! that's so sad! It's hard to see them change like that!! & it's hard on the spouses because they can only deal with so much-emotionally and physically...we will keep praying for your family..i know this is so hard.
