~Snowbird Chat 2~

I completely scared my mom a few minutes ago! :lmao: I called and told her we had something exciting happening in about 9 months. I meant Disney and she thought baby! :scared1: It never crossed my mind that she would think I was pregnant (DH went for a you know what *ahem* almost 2 years ago so it's not even something I think about). It was a good laugh! :rotfl:

:lmao:That's too funny!!!

Congrats on booking the trip!! I'm dying trying to figure out a good way to surprise the girls. I may have a plan though. I hope to start a PTR soon, maybe this weekend, but the days are just so busy with "real world" stuff. Driving from Maryland can't be that bad!!!! Come on! We drive from MN! Buck up little soldier!! It will be fine, plus you don't have to worry about snowstorms in October. (Unlike in MN!)

Hi Becca!!! How are you and the family??

I spent the whole day today at the hospital. Waiting around. My mom and he were there at 7 a.m. My dad had a pacemaker/defibrillator put in and it seemed like I sat there for days! I got there around 8 and they started the surgery at 12:30 or so. My brother came around 1. It was done at 3:30 and we got to see him by 4. I left around 5. All went well, and he will get to come home tomorrow.

Meghan-I'm One of those moms who is completely frustrated by the selection of boys clothes at ON. It's pretty pathetic.

Kim-I would have loved to have seen your mom's face. That is so funny!!

What a long day, Sheree! Glad all went well and the he'll be coming home tomorrow.

Sarah-woohoo!

Down to 165 days. I am feeling like I really need to be at Disney right now. Who else is staying at the Poly? We were originally booked for a MK view but then changed to a garden view. I'm looking for a recommendations for a great longhouse. We stayed in Rarotonga last time. I may, when we arrive, ask how much a MK view upgrade would be. I'm second guessing my choice to downgrade.

Sheree,...glad your dad is okay!!
Kim~ Glad you got that settled and have a ticker!!!! How exciting...and the good thing about it being that far is that you can save a little here and there and it's not such a chunk o'change!!! Did you say where you are staying? I might have missed it...I have a 7yo talking the entire time I am reading this!!!

I've added dramamine to my packing list just in case this time though. Maybe I'll take preventative measures and give it to both of them with breakfast.
That would be my suggestion - you need to take it 1/2 hour before travel. If you wait to take it until you start to feel ill, it'll only make you sicker. Trust me, I know! :scared1:

Hooray for a Snowbird meet!!!!! Which resort are you staying at?
POFQ at the moment; whether we stay there depends on whether any good AP, GP or (maybe!) PIN discounts come my way. Where are you booked?

ON really needs to step it up with their boys clothes...and their men's clothes. Still not a huge selection there either.

From reading some TR's, I've heard that Tokelau is a great longhouse!

Yep..it was a great longhouse as far as size-and it's pretty central--not the first one out the main door, but not really far away either...it was about 2 or 3 min from the monorail area!

We are confirmed!! We are renting points for Animal Kingdom Villas! Dec 3-10!!!!!!!!!!!!:yay:

Good morning Snowbirds

Just home from a PTO meeting. It's snowing again. :upsidedow I have to take DS9 for a eye appointment right after school. I think I'll just stay home until then and work on my Disney plans for August!! And maybe update the TR!

Hope all is well with everyone! :goodvibes

OMG!! :lmao: That is hilarious!!:rotfl2: I guess most people would think baby when you say '9 months'. Well, except for us Disney people here who are always thinking & planning the next trip - usually 9 months out or more!! ::yes:: :rotfl:

Congrats on booking your trip! :goodvibes

We are doing a split with CBR(5 nts) and the Poly (4 nts). This will be our first stay at the Poly. I requested to be in any of the following: Tokelau, Tahiti, or Somoa. :wizard:

Congratulations!!!

Taking Rylan to see the ENT this afternoon. Praying that they have an answer and can help improve his hearing. It's like talking to an 80 year old man LOL

YAY for all of these new trips WOOT WOOT!!

I think I'm going to consider renting points for our fall trip (as long as I'm not pregnant, Phillip has agreed to go with me WOOHOOO)

I can't wait to hear about all your trips!!!

Well, Dad's still in the hospital. He had some blood in his urine, and they don't know why, ran some tests...So he has to stay until it's cleared up. On the upside, we saw him last night (went to drive my mom home) and he looked and sounded really good. Feeling fine. Just annoyed. So the drama continues a bit longer!

Anyway - Mindy - awesome on the AKL!!! We had our one night there in Dec. 09 and loved it! We'll be there in less than 10 weeks!!! What kind of room will you have?
I hope they can help Rylan.

Sorry that it's snowing again there Shelly. We're supposed to get a little, but it's so cold!! Whenever it warms up above 20, it snows. Otherwise it's just frigid cold. Can't win.

So excited to hear about everyone's upcoming trips! Is it too early to plan for 2012?? Oh wait. I already know the answer to that question. NO!!!!

Hello Snowbirds! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

Ack, I was ten pages behind! :scared1: My mother-in-law left Wednesday after her three-week visit, and I'm trying to get caught up on all the important things that got neglected while she was here--like DISing! We had a nice visit with her...it really went better than I had expected. :rolleyes1 Took trips to London and Paris, enjoyed a bowl game VICTORY :cheer2: with my college roommate and family on New Year's Eve, and had a very nice Christmas. My sister sent Epic Mickey to the boys but I haven't tried it yet.

Wow, I have lots of Snowbird news to catch up on. Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear about your cruise friend. Even people we haven't known for very long can become an important part of our lives. Shelly and Kim, I am also keeping your grandpa and father-in-law in my prayers.

Meghan, congratulations on your little boy! They are so much fun! How strange, I had a dream last night that I went to visit you and your new baby girl. Are you sure he doesn't have a twin sister hiding in there?

HOORAY for all the upcoming Disney trips! :yay: Please keep us posted on all the details...I'm living vicariously through all of you!

My baby turned three on Tuesday. :sad2: Where does the time go?
Sarah, did you also have a birthday? :bday: a few days late!

Hope you all have a happy Disney day! I'm looking forward to keeping up better now that things are getting back to normal around here!

Glad to see you back on the thread! That is quite the funny dream. No, there is only 1 baby in there!!

Mornin' birdies:goodvibes
Well, our good friend Mr. Sam that's been battling cancer passed away yesterday afternoon....I was shocked, then very sad. I dont know why I felt such schock...we were warned that the end was near and they had him on the pain-killer-drip all last week. The very heavy one for patients in such pain with cancer.But...I know where he is!!! He was the most loving, steady man of God I have ever seen! When you walked up to him, you could feel a peace radiate from him. I have never met anyone like him before-except his wife. She is a saint, let me tell you!!We all learned so much from him, as did our entire church. He had an impact on our family way before I personally met him. When my husband was very new to the church, he met Sam and he really taught him a lot....then later, over the last couple of years, he led a mens class that Mike went too...they had been friends for years, but I am so glad that my kids got to experience knowing him and being his 'friend' before he got soooo sick.
The Wed night of the 18th or whatever 2 Wed nights before Christmas Eve was, we had a diff church service. We just started with carols and some spoke of Christmas memories as a child. We sat at tables and had cookies, hot cocoa and wassail....we got to sit with Mr. Sam and his wife, and Kipper wanted to come with us instead of Childrens church. I am so thankful he did, that was the last time he (Or I) got to visit with Sam....the next weekend he was admitted due to the levels of pain. But, during the church time, kipp said he would turn and Mr. Sam would wink at him when someone said something crazy or silly...or make little comments and Kipp would laugh...he said "I just love Sam!"
WOW!! To leave a legacy like that!!! I am so happy to have known him, and hope to have people learn about God and tremendous faith from me like that! Or just to know that people felt peace and the love of Jesus just because I am around,,or because I gave them a hug that morning. I know his funeral will be tough for all of us....but we will grieve, and be in joy knowing he is where he wanted to be--at the feet of his Lord!
And on a brighter note* my little Gracie is getting babtized Sunday morning!:yay: What's so crazy, is that all 3 of our kids accepted Christ the year they were 7...and Mike is going to have babtized all of them!! (Remember he was a pastor when I met him!)....so this is a special day for our family!
I hope you all stay warm and safe next week in the crazy weather thats coming...it's even gonna be extreme for us---at least that's been in the paper and we have had a bit of warning.. I know you Northerners are probably sick of the freezing temps by now...

Shawna,
Sorry to hear about your friend!! At least he is in a better place with no more pain!!!! You get to celebrate the life he led!!!!

Thanks Jen!! And you are so right!! Thank the Good Lord we have an assurance!!

We had a girl from our town that was killed by a drunk driver early Mon morning...she is 16, and was just a beautiful little girl. 4 of them were in the car, when he hit them, it flipped and she was thrown out...the other 3 were ok. He actually received a DUI (or DWI, not sure which) in 07--he is 23. She had been coming on Wed nights to our youth group. I have never met her, and Saylor doesn't remember her either.(but he does lights up in the sound booth and if you come in late, he won't see you pass by)...apparently she came always after the music and didn't stay late....her family didn't come to church with her...she came on her own and alone. So, since her family didn't come, our youth pastor is the only pastor she's had, and he's doing her funeral today at our church. In all his years of ministering to youth, this is his first funeral to do solo. usually the Sr. Pastor does it.. but in this case, it's gonna be Matt. So...if you think about it this afternoon, say a prayer for Matt and her family.
Our church has had a rough week! But, again...the assurance of Jesus and where his children are in death is amazing!
