~Snowbird Chat 2~

Shawna - Have fun!!!!!!!!!! :wizard:

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words and sympathy!:flower3: The past few days were definately hard, but we're making it!

So onto bigger and better things.
Work tomorrow 6am-2pm. Home to put up some christmas lights.
Tomorrow night we are getting together to plan what we want to do/see at MVMCP.
Sunday putting up the rest of the christmas lights.

Should be a halfway decent weekend, so we need to get them up before it's too stinking cold to feel our fingers. Also, want to start putting up some of the christmas stuff inside the house. Usually do it the week of Thanksgiving, but given that we go to Disney the following week, it's going to be crazy, so we'll get a jump on that.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I'm packing for DISNEY!!!!! I don't think it's sunk in yet that I'm finally going to see Disney at Christmas! As I was putting clothes in the duffel bag I stopped and got all giddy realizing that I'm packing for a Disney trip that's only a few weeks away!!!!

Shawna- I'm sorry I missed your send off! I hope you are having a magical trip!

Mindy- Happy 9 years to you and DH! Happy 2nd birthday to Chase! Seems like just yesterday you were announcing him as a new Snowbird baby!

Red- So sorry to hear about your pup.

We just booked our October trip!!!! We were able to get a Value studio at AKL Jambo! It's smaller and does not have a savanna view (we've been so spoiled) but we might be changing at the 7 month mark anyway. It's a point bargain!

We had to guess at the kids' school break, but it seems to always be the third week in October so we picked it. I suppose we can change if need be.

We are checking in on 10/13 and out on 10/18, and hope to add a night at OKW to use up some banked points on our new contract.

Still working on a PTR title for Europe - any suggestions??

Hello Snowbirds! :yay: I'm once again having to get caught up. :upsidedow The kids had their fall break week and we took and eastern Mediterranean cruise. Lots of fun! We enjoyed three ports in Greece, but the highlights were probably Ephesus, Turkey, and Dubrovnik, Croatia. Now I'm trying to figure out if we can swing a trip to Disneyland Paris, maybe the week before Christmas? Keep your fingers crossed!

Of course I missed a lot of Snowbird news. Red, I'm so very sorry to hear about your dog. I missed Shawna's sendoff...I hope they're having a great time! pixiedust: And several of you have trips coming up SOON! Wow! I'm so glad to hear that things are going better for Kim NDG...I've been thinking about her a lot.

So we've been here in Belgium for 2+ years and are scheduled to return to the US next summer. We are really happy here and DH requsted an extension of an additional year, and just learned that it was approved! :woohoo: So (unless something changes) we will be here until summer 2013. Of course we miss family in the States...not to mention WDW! :upsidedow But, on the bright side, maybe by the time we get back there, the Fantasyland expansion will be complete. ;)

The cruise sounds wonderful.... glad his extension was approved.... we were never able to PCS oversees because our DD medical issues (she couldn't be cleared) .... would have loved to live in Europe... best we could do was visit France a few times.... loved DLP... went shortly after it first opened... sure bet it is much larger now...

Wow Kathy I bet the Mediterranean cruise was wonderful. It's my dream! :cloud9: Congrats on the extension being approved.

Hope you get to DLP at Christmas time! :santa:

Hi everyone! I don't even remember the last time I logged into the boards. Crazy! I hope everyone is doing well! I really want to get back into my DIS time, but we'll see how that goes. :goodvibes

Sarah is reading the HP books and we are watching the movies AFTER she reads them. I think she'll get some DVDs for Christmas (and more books!). I want to sit and watch them too - I have read three of the books and she's almost done with the fourth - I guess I'll get it when she's done!

That's what we've been doing too! We actually just watched the 4th movie last weekend. It was really good, but also sad too. They've also been showing the HP movies on ABC Family (I think that's the channel). This past weekend, they showed numbers 1-4.

I'm so bummed I missed Shawna's send off. :sad1: I hope she's having a great time!!!

hey! had a long post typed and lost it! weather is great...crowds are starting out slow and building after 3 or 4...been great so far,.room at Tokelau is great!! Can see some water!!!! only issue has been some toddler aged kiddos just freakin out and parents leaving them in shows, or whatever and not taking them out...kinda strange, and both days encountered some super RUDE bus drivers-not sure whats up with that!!!
Cm said that Fantasyland should be done this time next year with a few things being a final wrap up in early 13...so it's looking good- Beast's castle looks fabulous from what you can see...
Have a great week...will try to say hey another time if I can!! KIM...all the Christmas stuff is AWESOME!!

Congrats on booking October!!!
No great PTR suggestions for the Europe trip but the phrase "pond hopping" comes to mind LOL

Your cruise sounds wonderful! Crossing my fingers you get to DLP next month! And congrats to another year living abroad! When you get back Fantasyland should be done and you'll have a reason to visit WDW!

Shawna you just made my day!!! I was just thinking of you and wishing my trip dates would have stayed the same. We would have had a DIS meet! Have a magical trip and can't wait to hear all about it when you get home!

Got our park tickets yesterday!!!!!!!!!!

Last thing to do is pre-order photopass. Might wait to do that until the week we leave bc I get paid just before we go!

2 weeks from right now, we should be in Milwaukee for the night, as we have a flight at 7am and didn't want to deal with driving at 3am.

I should maybe pull out my suitcase....:rolleyes1 I guess I could be getting out my warm weather stuff considering that it's 21 degrees here and I really don't need my shorts/capris...

Hey Snowbirds - we got our first snow of the year yesterday!

I started the PTR for London/Paris - AND managed to put the link in my signature! Come on over and help me plan!!!

Hey girls! we are home and all unpacked! As tiring as it was, I was determined EVERYTHING would be put away before bed tonight!! I say that every year, and a few things get left out here and there and the next day it drives me crazy!! So,..I got all the clean clothes put away, dirty in the laundry and kids have all their souveniers put up in their rooms!!!! DS15 came home and printed and Editorial report that he's been working on at spare moments of the trip, and got right into some Geometry that he has to do tomorrow...WAY TO GO BOY!!!!
We had a great trip with wonderful weather...crowds are starting to get larger as of Friday afternoon--not crazy, but I am sure that changed today! We went to MK Friday and didn't go back yesterday, as it was a crowd level prediction of 8!!! Epcot was good yesterday, I would have put it at a 3 or 4 for sure, but it's so doable still at that increase...
The new Sum of All Thrills at Innoventions is awesome!! all of my kids enjoyed it...did test track, and soarin',..I wonder if Soarin and Toy Story MM will ever be a non-FP attraction?! we just loved BTMRR again...rode it a lot...early in the mornings we could do it several times in a row with hardly a line at all...and by early, I mean around 9 or 10...couldn't do that in the summer time I know.
All the Christmas decor was beautiful..Sat evening, it started to drizzle a little, but it didn't last long...had some really hot days, the others were just perfect...but even on the hot days, the evenings were great.
Beirgarten was prob my favorite meal this time, and Nine Dragons at #2....I just love the German area the most tho'..so I am kinda partial! My paternal grandparents were from Germany,my maiden name was a shortened version of a German name, the other side of paternals were Irish, and maternal grandparents were from England...so those 2 areas of Epcot i could just stay in forever! And every year I tell Mike:this year is the year we are going to one or the other! Maybe next year!! LOL!!!
Mousekeeping did a good job at the Poly, got some really cute towel animals too..and almost every time we came to the room they were cleaning or picking up somewhere...not like some trips where you can NEVER find any housekeeping staff..Laundry machines were great, but the coin changer was broken, so that was a bummer. Kids swam 2 or 3 times, Sat we got to sit at the Beach and watch a wedding right behind our Tokelau longhouse. It was very sweet! i loved it!
Kids also got to drive a boat-mike rented one of the small watercraft (watermice?) from our marina and they had a blast...he took ds15 horseback riding Sat and they had a wonderful time there too...
And even tho we had a great experience with our room and the location, Mike still isn't sold on it and wished we were back at the Beach Club...so, I guess I know where we will be staying next time!!!!
I posted on Sheree's new PTR, that we may skip next year...they have a lot done for the expansion, but I am afraid that if we go the same week of '12, we may miss the opening for some of it that wont quite be ready--if we went and I missed something by a week I would be sick! So,..we will wait and see how it's going, maybe I can talk him into the UK next year instead and we can follow Sheree and Dave around!!!:rotfl:
Oh!! I almost forgot to tell y'all....I finally got to meet Emma!! Disney AG Princess!!! She is the SWEETEST thing!! I love, love, love her!!!! She came over to Epcot one night after her shift and we got to visit a little while! If any of you who are planning upcoming trips wanna meet her, send her a PM and she might can swing it if she's available...I have been reading her trip reports and following her and her brother on their European travels for a while now and it was so awesome to finally see her!!!
I am pooped...so I will holler at y'all tomorrow!!

Welcome home, Shawna! It sounds like you had a great trip. :goodvibes We can't wait to hear all the details!

I encourage everyone to visit Europe! :thumbsup2

Hey Shawna! Welcome home!
I had the same thought about going back to WDW in fall that Fantasyland might have a few things open, but not all. It looks like we will see some of it during our October dates. But I know we'll be back again...

So glad you had a good trip! Dave always wants to rent a watercraft too! Maybe next trip.

How fun to meet Emma! I've read a bunch of her reports too - especially the Disney Paris one!!

Welcome home Shawna!!!!! Sounds like your trip was fantastic!!!!

I think it's safe to pack the shorts  Get that suitcase out!!!!!

Hey Snowbirds - we got our first snow of the year yesterday!

How did you get the link in your siggie????? I still haven't figured it out!

I'm so happy today! I finally finished my entire online class and am just waiting for the grade from parts 4 and 5. I passed parts 1-3 with flying colors! It feels so good to have that off my shoulders!!!!!

I also went out this weekend and got everything I need for the daycare Christmas party next Friday. I even came home and wrapped all the presents and put them under the little Charlie Brown tree in the playroom. It's torturing the kids to see presents under the tree. All I need to get next week is food for the party!
