~Snowbird Chat 2~

Oh!! I forgot...and the Disney Cruise line is set to make some time at the Galveston port!!!!!! 2012...so, I guess we will be doing it at least once!!!!! That is about 2 hours from me too!! Generally, the same area from me as Houston and the Woodlands!!:cool1:

Anybody ever curious
as to what
each and every
color in that
little box up

there really turns
out looking like?
I know this
looks really, really
strange. But, I

have been curious
as to what they
all look like!
So...even tho'
this will be rambly

and broken,
I have wanted
to do just this!
I am not sure
if your color

boxes are set
up in the same
order as mine.
I am going
straight down each

row, from the
left to the
right. This may not
even be readable.
But, then we

will know what
colors we should
definitely stay
away from!!
I bet we can

find some that
we fall in
love with, and
some that we
really can't use!!

Well,....what do we think?
:lmao: You need a hobby or a trip to plan to keep you busy!
Hello everyone, i 'm new here.
:welcome:
Disney Cruise Lines announced their new 2012 itineraries today (officially)....so excited!!! The 3 new ports are Galveston, Seattle and New York!!!!
We've always dismissed DCL because we'd have to go to FL to catch the boat! Mixing DCL and WDW is just too costly for us right now but to able to drive to NY and hop onboard would be fantastic! :sail:
OK, Birdies - I have officially gone off the deep end!

My dd e-mails me at 2 yesterday that she has an extra week off before her internship starts this summer. I suggest we go somewhere. She's game. I speak to a friend who convinces me that this great vacation is the answer, and by 7 PM, I've booked it! :scared1:

We're going to Bermuda, staying at a high-end resort, Club level!!! I'm spending more money on this short trip than any vacation I've taken before (even London)! But she's my only kid, and she's only going to graduate once (not going to grad school, at least not yet). So it's her graduation gift. And I don't have to put it on credit.

So what the heck. It's only money, right?? :rotfl:
Woo Hoo! :yay: Enjoy the trip and time together with DD! Don't let yourself feel the least bit guilty. You don't get to take your money with you when you leave this earth so enjoy it now and make some memories!

I am one spoiled rotten Snowbird today ladies! :cloud9:

DH's new job means he's off every other Friday. Today is his first Friday off and he spent the morning cleaning our entire upstairs!!! My daycare is the downstairs level of our house so I can't go up during the day to clean it and it usually doesn't get done until the weekend. One less big chore to do this weekend. AND he took Emily out to lunch at ChikFilA. I'm patiently awaiting their return with a grilled chicken wrap and a huge cup of sweet tea!!! He's such a good husband! I think I'll keep him. ;)

Now let's hope this government shut down doesn't happen or he'll be home without pay until they come to a decision. :headache: At least I'll have a clean house if so.

I'm here Kim! Tony and I went to Rochester for the weekend to watch a lacrosse game (Buffalo won). We started looking at cars for me yesterday and then I totally crashed on the couch. It was an absolutely gorgeous day here yesterday...we hit 77 degrees! It's beautiful again today, but very windy. It doesn't matter though because it's about 66 right now. The sun is shining and that's all that matters. :goodvibes

I'm here!! I was working on my TR this weekend. We had some unseasonably warm weather too - plus winds!

How did you enjoy your hubby's Friday off Kim??

The girls and I went with my brother to the Twins game Saturday night. DH decided to work at the Frozen Four hockey championship and make some money to pay for our addictions (Disney, DVC...) We had fun, but dang! it was so windy! (especially in our seats which are in the upper deck)

Sorry Sarah - Michigan lost. Around here we have mixed emotions. It's nice that a Minnesota team won, but the people from the U of M Twin Cities are not UM Duluth fans.

I'm going to be getting going on some serious spring cleaning - basically getting rid of stuff - and getting ready for a garage sale in early May. My boss is taking off for the rest of April and I'm going to work at home more often. This way I can save on gas money (I drive 50 miles round trip) and get stuff done at home too. I don't have a lot of pending work, so I can do email and voice mail checks at home easily. Plus I can take a day off to go with Paige's class on a field trip (hopefully they'll pick me) to Crystal Cave!

Hope everyone has a good week!

I'm here. Worked all weekend. Had wonderful weather this weekend, upper 70'2 but it ended with tornadoes here. My neighborhood had horrendous rains, but 1 mile away confirmed tornadoes. Crazy.... Now this week my days off the high is supposed to be 50's...

Not too much else going on here. Have a wonderful week everyone!

hello girls! Had a busy weekend...and it was super windy here too!!! Only got a sprinkle today of a much needed rain...they will start asking us to conserve water before too long!!! We are WAY below our average...have been since last spring...
Sheree...I did some cleaning also-in my school room...got a list posted on one of my hsing threads with all my books that are for sale and had a good response...sold about 1/4 of it already, and have two more ladies that want to look thru them!! Which is great, because I am about to order more books for our next school year!!! that's not fun $$$...i just put it back in the till for the next set of books! LOL.....
my allergies are better, but I think my sinuses are messing up my equilibrium--my ears feel like there is a LOT of pressure....that may send me on to the Dr!
My oldest gets his top braces in the morning:banana: he is sooo excited...he's nervous too, but he's ready to get those teeth lined up!
Gotta think of something for supper...might just be fried eggs & toast tonight! Absolutely can NOT think of anything to make...I have hit the cooking-mental-block!!! :scared1:
Hoping that in the next few weeks they start to post discounts for fall travel...I like to get my room secured in May one way or the other...
Sheree...what was it like NOT doing the DDP? I really need to sit down with pencil and paper and see if it's gonna be cheaper or not. One thing, we never do snacks unless we have the ddp and we have a million left over at the end of EVERY trip...even when I think we have used a lot!
So...i am not too sure..the idea of just buying GCs over the summer to use for food is very appealing! Also,...I hate that you have to drag cash or your card for tips anyway.Decisions, decisions!!!

So sorry I was not able to hang out on here this weekend!!! We too had absolutely FABULOUS weather!!!

I had a sickie kiddo on Thursday and Friday - Nat had the crazy fever with no other symptoms!?!? So I cancelled my daycare kids and kept her home to sleep it off! She was much better by Friday afternoon so I let her play computer and I got my house tidied up and did some clearing out of cupboards and some rearranging of things!!

Over the weekend we cleaned up the yard and I shoveled off the last bit of snow from our deck! Got the kids bikes out and decided that Nat will get Ems old bike and Em will get a new bike!!

Been fine tuning our plans to drive down to WDW in August and deciding on our overnight stops and where we will eat etc!

QUESTION: Which is better in your opinions - ChickFilA or Sonic Drive thru??? Want to try to eat at something other than the places we have up here (ie McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys)

KIM - I noticed that you have removed your ticker? Whats up with that???

Kim..my kids loooooove Chick-Fil-A.....Sonic is good, but they will take CFA over it anyday..in fact, every Wed night after church our youth group goes there after church...we all love it!

It sounds like we're all in spring cleaning mode!! I went through my dresser and closet yesterday to get rid of some old clothes. I can't believe it but I managed to get rid of 12 sweaters and I still have huge stacks of them! I went through all of Madison's stuff a week or so ago and now she desperately needs some shorts. I did buy her a few pairs at Old Navy last week, but she still needs more (we like to have options). We now have 2 huge bags of clothes to donate.

I also need to go through my pantry and some cupboards. Have to make room for baby bottles and formula!!! Besides, who really knows what's in the back of my pantry...yikes!

For those of you who like to use the dining plan, I highly recommend visiting this thread:

Dining Plan punch card

We had her make one for us for our Sept trip and it was great! It really helped us keep track of the meal/snack credits we were using.

I'm a ChikFilA girl all the way! Although I've never tried Sonic yet. They just came to our town and we haven't gone yet.

Yes, sadly my ticker is gone for the time being. Things aren't looking too promising for an October trip. :sad2: I'll be down a couple daycare kiddos because their moms have lost their teaching contracts for next year. The budget cuts to the schools have been horrible around here which trickles down and effects everyone. If they don't have a job, neither do I. They've let 80 teachers go in my county's school district and they aren't done yet. Plus we've had to dip into savings more than we'd like to lately- new washer and dryer, no paychecks for DH during the job transition, new glasses for me, just life in general expenses adding up.

I'm staying positive though- well trying to at least :rolleyes1 - it may just be bumped back a bit for now. Who knows maybe I'll end up getting to go closer to Christmas like I've dreamed. We're definitely going back again it's just up in the air as far as how soon that will be. There are worse things that can happen in life than postponing a trip to Disney! :goodvibes

Hey ladies,

Here to do a quick drive by. I haven't forgotten about you all. Life has gotten so busy. My Disney trip is in jeopardy. We are thinking about building a new home and if we do, Disney will have to wait until 2012 :(

LOVE ChickFilA. We have one less than a mile from our house.

We don't have chick fil a here but we always go when we are in the south.
We have sonic but don't go a lot. The stuff we have had is good though. I like the slushies and smoothies!

We only went without the DDP for our first night this trip, otherwise we had it. We tended to use snacks for a meal when we could so we didn't have a lot extra. The main street bakery is good for that! Many of the meals we had were buffets so we knew the prices and the DDP was pretty much the same cost for us.

So glad I could work from home today. It is beautiful! It isn't going to last but I'm enjoying it. Windows open, walking the dog, sitting out on the deck. Ahhhh!

Kim~ I love your attitude!!! You are absolutely right..there are worse things than pushing back a vacation! And the fact is right now,if you don't have the $, you just don't have it! You do have your family! Maybe you will get to go closer to Christmas! That would be great! If not, more time to save for the 2012 trip!
Mindy~go for the new house!! LOL! That is always such a BIG thing...and once you get started, go thru the process, and move in...it'll be time to plan the next trip before you know it...and you got the house and vacation too!!! Just in a different order!
Sheree~ Glad you are enjoying your work-at-home-days! Our weather has been pretty too...we still need rain, but the weather is great for playing outside...I want the kids out as much as possible right now...when our summer hits, it'll be like living somewhere else! LOL...not able to play outside and enjoy it then!
Meghan~ thought about you yesterday...had to get some T-shirts and shorts for summer (remember we cleaned out our closet a few months ago?), well, I am down to like 2 nice short sleeve shirts!! the rest are just Target Tshirts (plain, real, t shirts) for running errands, but no Nice shirts...anyway, we went to Old Navy and Gap! Old Navy did me good yesterday...got several tshirts and tanks for layering...Gap has a buy one get one FREE on allllll tops!!!! (except big sweaters) got a few cute shirts & a couple of Cardigans...it was a good day! LOL.... I may get a few more nice shirts later for church....but for the dog days of summer that are coming, I am set!
My Saylor got his braces (on top) yesterday!! He is doing good so far,...we'll see how he feels today. Said they his front teeth were sore before he went to bed. also, our local gym has a Jr. program for kids and family, so Monday Mike talked him into going just to see how he liked it, he got him to take him back last night. He has a one month mini-membership. He really is enjoying it and wants to start going. That's a good thing for them to do together--and they go before our school lets out in the afternoon and the place is empty!
I started back with my walking program Mon evening....walked Mon, then last night I jogged for a while (*short* while) and my thighs are feeling it already. WOW! I am more out of the routine than I thought! LOL....What is prompting me tho, is my heart. I have a small heart murmer...functional, but sometimes I notice it. When my sinuses are all messed up I notice it more...or if I get reeeaaaaallly upset. So...I just know that when I am walking a little at least every day, or for quite a ways a few days a week, it gets more in rythm.So... I kinda HAVE to stay on a walking routine.
Whew....this got long! LOL...y'all have a good rest of the day!!

Ok, I totally overdid it yesterday. I'm exhausted today! The good news is I'll be getting my new car today!!!:woohoo::yay: Tony knows a guy who owns a small dealership and he brought Tony to a car auction yesterday (he kind of had to sneak him in). Tony said it was crazy, but a lot of fun. They ended up getting me an 03 Ford Escape and Tony will be picking it up tonight! We saved probably four thousand dollars by buying it from the auction. It's in mint condition and the guys said it drives really well (he drove it to his shop/dealership yesterday to check it out for us). I'm so excited!!!

Anyways....I had to clean out my current car yesterday. This guys is "buying" it off of us. Kind of like trading in a car at a big dealership. My car was SO gross, so I had to get all of the garbage out of it and then I vacuumed it out with my shopvac. After that, I started tackling the pile of cardboard boxes in my garage. We had boxes in there from our tv we bought (last Feb), tv stand, crib, dresser....the list goes on and on. I managed to get the pile down but then I was exhausted. After all of that, I started going through my cupboards and pantry and I was able to make room for all of our baby bottles, bowls, cups ,etc.

Today, it's time to tackle the laundry and finish choreographing for all of my dance classes tonight. Next week is Spring Break, and I need all of my recital dances to be done by tonight. Thankfully, I only have a little bit left on each of my 3 dances. I also have Madison's parent/teacher conference this evening. I kind of can't wait for tomorrow because I have absolutely NOTHING to do. Yippee!

I am dying to buy some real clothes for myself right now. I don't want to buy too many maternity items, but I don't like wearing the same things week after week either.

Alrighty then, ChickFilA it shall be then! :) I kinda thought it sounded better but wanted some first hand opinions! Thanks for the input! :thumbsup2

Awwww, Kimmy you are right, there ARE more important things in life than a trip to Disney, way to stay positive!!! You WILL get there again someday!!! Hope your clientele picks up again! I will be down a kid at the end of this month! She turns 18 mos on the 22 of this month and will be old enough to join her brother and sister at their daycare! Better for mom and dad that they will only have one stop at the end of the day instead of 2 but not so good for me cause my $$$ gets chopped in half!! :sad2: Still don't know what September looks like for me, but I know that God will provide! :goodvibes

Mindy - Oh no! :sad1: Well, again, I suppose if you need a new house, that IS a bit more important than Disney - sad that you will have to postpone it tho - I don't think the Poly is going anywhere though!!! :goodvibes

We had a rough night around here - Miss Natalie woke up with a terrible pain in her ear at 11:35pm, JUST as we were turning off the light to go to sleep! We were up with her until 2:30am trying to make the pain stop! :scared1: She finally fell asleep! Called the doc and got in for 11:15 this morning so hopefully we will figure out what is causing the pain!

Hope everybody has a good day! :goodvibes

Meghan....I am not pregnant and you make ME tired with what all you do!! LO!!!! I know you can't WAIT to get your new car!!!! Have to ask...do y'alls cars come with Air cond? I know they used to give the Northern Dealerships that option...wasn't sure if it still was like that.....we would fry without it! I know how you feel about maternity clothes! They are sooo cute, but it's a waste to buy a lot, because you will be out of them so soon...just keep wearing the same stuff with different sandals or scarves....you'll be in reg clothes in June anyway!!
