When is your trip, Becca?
The goal was Jan 2-12. We'll see. I'm starting to think that maybe we should postpone it until later in the year, because we're looking at taking time for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Logan wants to do a long weekend for his birthday. The Hobbit movie comes out ON his birthday, and he's never gone to see a movie at midnight before, so we figured we'd take Gideon to Grandma's for the evening. Hopefully, he'll be over his jet lag by then, so my Mom can still sleep, because she'll have work in the morning.
All those tough decisions! All of that unknowing stresses me out! My head was swimming with these promises of discounts and I jumped on the discount today for our January trip. The poor CM said she didn't even know what it was called or what type of discount it was giving, she just quoted whatever the computer said. Weird!! We technically ended up paying about $400 for the dining plan for 5 people (4 of those are Disney adults) for 8 nights. It's not
Free Dining, but it's pretty darn close to me!
I'm glad you could take advantage of it! I'm happy that I have some decent options, but I hate deciding. I think what bothers me most is not booking. I probably should just go ahead and book something, but DH is being weird about it. Obviously, we're far enough out that we wouldn't really be committing to much, but he's still weird about it.
Oh my gosh Becca and Jenny - I don't know how to figure that math out anymore! Since we bought
DVC, I don't book packages, so free dining isn't an option. It does give us the freedom to do whatever we want about dining, tickets.
Becca - have you thought about not getting the dining plan at all? Just pay OOP and eat whatever you want. You could use a room discount and not have to worry about tickets - still get military discount, I assume. Good luck figuring it out!
This will be our first trip without
DDP in ages! I'm really excited about it. We have a few hundred $$ in gift cards and visa rewards, so we will basically charge to our room and pay it all off with those. With food and wine, I didn't book many ADRs either (only 3) and will just eat our way around world showcase.
Doing a room only, military tickets, and no dining plan has been my plan for a while, but Free Dining throws a wrench into it, because I'm thinking that financially we should stay in a Moderate, and Free Dining is a better deal at a Moderate. I know DH would LOVE it if we were on the dining plan again, but I'm not sure which version of the trip would work out better for us.
We just changed our pre-cruise hotel from near the airport to Pop Century.
Who is going to be there the same time we are? Shoot, was it Kim?
Anyway,

I love how my husband keeps claiming he's not a Disney fan, but then... I told him "hey, there appears to be discounts for Disney hotels. Do you want to stay where we're at or do you want me to see what kind of price we can get?" The answer was to see what price. Well, Pop Century came in $10 cheaper

and All Star Sports came in $30 cheaper... but he decided we should stay on property and definitely at Pop Century.
Plus it looks like I can return our car, from National, on property, then catch the
DCL bus to the ship!
He either likes Disney....or he loves you loving Disney.
Hello everyone! Things have gotten little crazy around here now. We are starting to get into "Holiday Mode" at work. Not too crazy yet, but definately getting there. So Thanksgiving is about 5 weeks away (if I can count correct). Just over 9 weeks til my brothers wedding (Dec. 22, which I am doing all the planning for. Making invites, programs, decorations) then Christmas. On top of all that, just a mere 79 days til I'm on my way to Disney!!!!!! It will be so nice to have that trip after all this craziness.
Oh add to that, my parents are getting all new flooring in the house. So we have contractors and other odd people over almost every other day to take measurements of some sort.
Also at some point this week I have to figure out how to make my Halloween costume for Sunday. The wedding that I stood up in is having a Halloween reception, and of course I've waited til the last minute to figure out my costume. I'm going to be a Red Solo Cup. It's a nickname that actually started in Florida, so we figured it fit. At this point I just want to buy a huge fake ring and wear my Aaron Rodgers jersey and say I'm his wife....much less stress to figure out that outfit.
Oh well, here's hoping that the coffee

has kicked in for the next 15 hours! Have a great week everyone!!
Thanks for the perspective! 5 weeks until Thanksgiving makes it seem a lot closer. I think once we're back in the States everything will go super fast, but right now my days are painfully slow.
I was pretty bummed yesterday, because I fell in love with this one property in Manhattan, KS over the past week or so. I've been in contact with the management company, and trying to arrange for my brother to go see it for me. Well, yesterday morning I tried to pull up the listing again to look at something, and it wasn't there anymore. I get that they couldn't hold it for me, but the guy I was in contact with didn't even mention that someone else was interested in it. We have plenty of other options, but I was really excited about that one. It was a duplex with a full finished walkout basement. 4 bedrooms. Hardwoods on the main floor and carpet in most of the bedrooms and in the basement. Working fireplace. The area was great. Kind of secluded subdivision, but within walking distance to a grocery store and some restaurants. I'm sure it had some drawbacks, and we'll find something else, but I was already furnishing it in my mind!
I sent out another email to double check that it actually got rented, because they seem to have done some updates on some of the other listings yesterday. It could have gotten deleted by accident.
Anyways, I hope everyone is having a lovely fall. The leaves are changing here, so the mountains are starting to look really beautiful.
