~Snowbird Chat 2~

I agree. The funny thing is their first trip to Disney was 4 years ago - so they wouldn't have been there during this time either. :) I'm guessing they are getting information from someone who hasn't been there in YEARS and its information that is better sounding than what I have to give, so they're going to believe that. I'm okay with that.....its also why I don't like to travel with others! :rotfl:

I was in a wheelchair last summer for Disney. As Disney (and the disabilities forum, here) points out, if you have trouble walking, a wheelchair IS for you. So it sounds like the best option for their friend.

But I think I can count on one hand the number of rides I got escorted to the front on. Of course, I wasn't doing it to get to the front, I was doing it because I'd torn two muscles in one leg and I'd still rather have major knee surgery again. :rotfl2:

But, really? Disney's going to pay to send us off site? Neat trick! ;)

Hello Snowbirds! :yay:

I've been away from the DIS for ages (if you didn't notice, don't tell me ;) ) and am finally trying to get caught up. So...

:bday: to Meghan (yes, that's how long it's been since I've DISed) and Gideon!
Becca and Red, I will keep your Grandpa and Grandma and your families in my prayers. :grouphug:
Soliel, congratulations on your next princess! princess:
Kim, I'm glad to hear the heart stuff doesn't look super-serious. And your living room looks fabulous!
Kim NDG, I'm so very glad to hear you're doing well! Congrats on the new job!
Laura, loving the updates from the UK. :surfweb:
Wendy, we've been to Ireland a couple of times, most recently two summers ago and spent a few days in Dublin. I'll dig up what we did and see if I have any helpful hints for you. We're actually going to Dublin for the weekend at the end of this month...for a football game! :upsidedow

I know there's a bunch more I'm missing from the past ten pages.
I always enjoy hearing about everyone's plans for their upcoming trips! :cool1: I plan WDW trips vicariously through you!

We've had a good summer here so far. DH's niece, age 16, arrived in mid-June, the same day the boys finished school for the year. We left for Copenhagen a few days later for our Baltic cruise. :cheer2: It was great and we all really enjoyed it. That was the last big thing on my list of things I really wanted to do while we're in Europe. Now I just have lots of "little" things left. :rolleyes1 A few days after we got home, the three guys left for a week of Boy Scout camp, so we three girls went to Paris for a few days. :thumbsup2 Of course, that had to include a stop at Disneyland Paris! We got APs when we went in April, so this was our first chance to use them again. And they have a special offer this summer where AP holders can buy one-day two-park hoppers for 20 Euros each! That's about $25! :faint: So if any of you can squeeze in a trip to Paris this summer, I'll meet you at DLP and hook you up with some cheap tickets. Anyway, DNiece is from southern CA and of course is familiar with Disneyland, so I was looking forward to visiting DLP with her. It turns out that she is a big thrill ride person and doesn't really seem to appreciate the "Disney details" as much, but we had a good time anyway. Unfortuately she had to go on all the "big" attractions alone, since DD is too short (and scared). I also took her to Amsterdam (day trip) to see the Anne Frank House, and we did various things around here. She was here for a month, her first time in Europe, and I think she enjoyed it. We've been taking it easy for the past couple of weeks since she left (also squeezed in a one-night family trip to DLP), but now there are only two more weeks until school starts up again! Our school calendar has just a two-month summer break, but more breaks during the year. I like it this way.

Whew, sorry to ramble on like that! I've missed you all and I'm glad to be back. :goodvibes

Kathy!! Of course we missed you!!!! How cool for the niece!!!!! I would love to stay with family in Europe for a month!!!! glad you are back on the boards!!!!

Hey there Kathy!
Glad you've been able to do some things on your list! That's what my friend in London is doing. With their school schedule, every couple months they have a week off and are traveling all over Europe! They're home now for a month here in MN, and it was fun to see them and catch up. They just did a Med cruise with her whole family.

How much more time there do you have (if you know0?

Aw, thanks, ladies.

Sheree, we'll be here until next June. We've been here three years already so we were scheduled to return to the States this summer, but we were able to extend for an additional year. :cool1:

hey girls...today is my double digit day!!!! Of course, I have our ADR times and park days set, but as I am looking at it, I am thinking there are 2 days that I am gonna switch around,..provided I can get my ADRs reversed. I just kept looking at those 2 days and it doesn't look right...I think we will have a family pow wow this afternoon!:teacher: go over the options!

Oh, please don't take that the wrong way - It was not my intention to mean any offense to anyone needing a wheelchair. What upset me the most was the quick comment after they told us that they would be able to get to the front of the line. It was almost said in a way that having their family with them really cramps their style and they need this to make the day better.

I keep changing around my ADRs too. I need to stop! LOL I'm still trying for an O'Hana reservation and hope I have a good shot when the 45 day mark comes around and people start canceling. I think I'd like to try Chef Mickey's, too, but that's not as important as O'Hana. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the rest of my ADRs. A girl can wish, right?!?

Oh, gosh, no I didn't take it the wrong way at all. I really meant it more of a "seems they may end up doing the right thing for the wrong reason," if only for the family member and it won't help them at all!

Okay my friends,...asking for prayer for one of my dearest friends,....She is the one who is stationed in Maryland~ She is not active duty anymore, but her husband is...anyway, she called me this morning from the hospital~ she woke up with a terrible pain and I guess a headache, took her girls to the neighbor and went to the Dr./ E.R.,whatever and they found bleeding in her brain and were suppose to be taking her into surgery shortly after we talked. She said she was in a spirit of Thankfulness that it wasn't an aneurism and that she didn't just drop dead in front of her 2 little girls (ages 2 & 4)...I can handle most news fairly well...and don't get emotional until later,...but that really shook me up!! I thought she sounded funny, but I didn't want to tell her that...Her update from the family late this afternoon, around 5:30 or so, was that she had another MRI and more bloodwork and the Drs were deciding what time and what surgery they will do tomorrow....
I was shocked they didn't have an answer by now! I was taking it as a sign that maybe the bleed wasn't as Life Threatening as that always sounds! So, I would appreciate prayers for her, her husband and 2 girls, and her family. And for all of us as we are so far from her.....She does know that if she needs me I am on the next plane out!!! I felt just a bit of shock/panic when she was talking and I realized HEY!! I am not down the street from her anymore and can't just be there!! But, it was just a moment of that feeling, and then the peace that comes from knowing she is totally in Gods hands and He is gonna take care of her better than we can...
I know that I can count on y'all to pray for her with me...we really appreciate it!!!

Thank you Kathy! Angiogram is scheduled for this morning, a couple of more tests,,,who knows what they will be? and then a decision...her parents got there at 9 Maryland time last night, got to see her and speak with her for a little bit. Her mom said this morning that it was so obvious that God was taking care of her yesterday! She dropped the girls off, called Greg on the way and was met at the hospital by a nurse she goes to church with!!! So, He was preparing the way for her, as apparently it was bizarre that she was lucid enough to do these things alone...
Her parents picked up the girls from the neighbor (babysitter) last night and took them home and will stay there with them today until his parents get there today from Arizona~ at that point they will stay home with the kids and Jess's parents will go back to hospital to stay with her husband and be here during the surgery.
We covet your prayers!

Oh Shawna! That's got to be so shocking to hear that news. I'm so sorry - I will be praying for her and the family as they go through this. That story does tell me that she is in God's hands and He will take care of her. Hoping for a positive outcome!!

Shawna- That is remarkable that your friend was able to do all that and get herself to the hospital. Prayers being sent her way!

thank you friends!! I have not heard anything else since their first post this morning...we have lots of people here and in our hometown praying...God is going to take care of her! Thanks again!! Love all of you!!

thanks for all the prayers ladies!! :grouphug: got a great Praise Report tonight! Jess called me just a couple of hours ago from home!!! She said,"Shawna, it was just like you prayed for me yesterday! They got the results from the tests back and there was no more bleeding..all is good."!!! Praise the Lord!! :worship: She is supposed to rest for the whole week-her parents flew in last night, his flew in today,...so she and her hubby can just lay around for a couple of days and let the Grands do all the work and take care of them also!!! She didn't even have to have the angiogram!!!

God is so good!!!! I was so happy to hear her voice! I appreciate all of your prayers and concern more than i can say!!!!Thank you!
