Snow to 80 in 8 days–A spoonful of Holiday Cheer (2/5 update Ch 36 - Final Thoughts)

Dan, I thought you were going to say it was getting mroe and more painful to read Marv's report. :lmao::lmao:

My friend, :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:, for 14 days :thumbsup2
no because he hands out the bonus points.
:goodvibes

i wont tell him that until he is done writing it.

actually sometimes it is painful to read and see what he says is very obvious or ones that we should get right.

Oh, and Marv, have a safe trip to go get those Scouts! Watch out for Bears...we need you back to finish your report. :goodvibes

Leaving Camp Minnie Mickey I quickly met the boys near the entrance to Animal Kingdom. Our first destination together was of course Expedition Everest. We are all a bunch of thrill ride junkies and no matter what else we decide to do or not do while we are at Disney, the thrill rides are always a part of our trip.

When we arrived we grabbed another set of FPs to use later when Alison finally joined us.
123.jpg

124.jpg

Then we jumped in the single rider line and were quickly boarding for our journey to brave the Yeti! The first time I rode I wasn’t in a seat that allowed me to get a good picture of another “secret” shared by Glenn.
126.jpg

After surviving another trek through the Forbidden Mountain, the next logical choice for thrill ride junkies at AK is Dinosaur. No matter how many times we ride Dinosaur, it never ceases to thrill us and scare us as evidenced by our redneck ride photo.
127.jpg

Having survived our first two “must-do’s” in Animal Kingdom it was time to finally head towards the rest of the park. As we headed back through Dinoland we came across a CM doing some artwork with water and a mop that we had never seen before. I thought this was really cool and had to stop and take a few pictures.
128.jpg

131.jpg

Next stop was a ride the boys enjoy doing, but I typically wait out while they ride.
134.jpg

This is an okay ride as long as I just ride it without attempting to make it any more exciting, but the boys often try for the maximum amount of spinning , which usually messes up my equilibrium too much so I normally just pass it up. The interesting thing about this ride is it always reminds me of my favorite English DISfriend Rosie for one simple reason…….
133.jpg

Just kidding Rosie………you KNOW I love you!!!

This ride is often very slow loading. With nothing to do but wait I focused on taking some pictures. While standing in line, Matt gives me the first of many salutes to my DISfriend Jenbear.
140.jpg

The boys finally get on the ride and as they exit the loading area I get salute number two. As you can tell Drew doesn’t get very excited on this ride……….
144.jpg

Oh wait, he was just playing possum……. A Drew salute for Jen too!
146.jpg

I don’t think they like this ride……..
150.jpg

With Primeval Whirl behind us we left Dinoland and headed back towards the rest of the park. On the way we saw these guys. They seemed to be having a good time.
154.jpg

As we headed back towards the middle of the park I got a message from DW that her bus was arriving at the park. We were near Yak & Yeti, just across the bridge that comes from Discovery Island to Asia. I told Alison we would wait for her there and as soon as she passed under the Discovery Island sign she should see us. From there we would head over to the Kilimanjaro Safari. Is anyone seeing the flaw in this plan???
161.jpg

Yes, we were looking at the Discovery Island sign, but how many of you think it said Discovery Island on the side that Alison would be coming from???

While waiting for Alison to arrive the boys decided to pose for some pictures. Sadly there isn’t enough room in this TR to post the picture of the sign asking you to please stay off. But then I didn’t see it until after we took the pictures either.

156.jpg

158.jpg

159.jpg

Anyone think this might be a Hidden Mickey???
160.jpg

It was taking a while for Alison to show up. The boys wandered off to find something else to keep them busy.
157.jpg

When they returned from testing their musical abilities we still didn’t see Alison heading our way. Jonathan told me he wanted to step in and watch Flights of Wonder while we waited. Since we were right beside the entrance I told him I would get him when Alison arrived.

After Jonathan left I texted Alison to see where she was. Her response……….at the entrance to the Safari! Huh??? Well, I quickly tried to see if I could get Jonathan so we could head to the Safari, but they had the entrance closed and weren’t letting anyone else in. I sent Matt and Drew on ahead to meet their Mom while I waited for Jonathan to come out of the show, hoping he would come back out after a few minutes. No such luck…..he stayed for the whole show. When he came out we headed over to Africa to join the rest of the family.

When we got to the Kilimanjaro Safari the Standby wait time was actually longer than the Fastpass return time, so we grabbed a set of FPs. Since we had an early ADR planned for Yak & Yeti we decided to grab a quick snack so as not to spoil our dinner. After getting something to drink and hold us over until dinner at Harambe Fruit Market we decided to explore the area until we could ride the safari. I think the same electrical craftsmen that did the splendid work at Expedition Everest must be in demand worldwide.

Up Next Chapter 28 – All Together......on Safari

Our FP return time arrived and we headed off for our safari. Loading into our safari vehicle we headed into the African backcountry in search of elusive quarry like

Okapi……..
166.jpg

Rhino…….
167.jpg

And Hippo.
170.jpg

Wow, I hope while we’re this close to NG’OMBE MARA Camp they will actually take us there to see the sights.
171.jpg

173.jpg

Is this a termite mound? Or the next pole Rosie plans to conquer???
175.jpg

179.jpg

181.jpg

183.jpg

I can’t believe the elephants can lay down on the job.
185.jpg

A few birds on the tour……..
187.jpg

189.jpg

It’s a family affair!!!!
191.jpg

The King of the Jungle
197.jpg

I think this might be one of the best shots I’ve gotten of the Lion.
200.jpg

After we returned from saving the baby elephant from those vile and vicious poachers we headed back towards the middle of the park. Most of our recent trips we have explored the various trails, so we decided to skip them this time. Our last trip to Animal Kingdom we were invited to stay after the Flights of Wonder show and help them test one of the new birds. They wanted some people to stay so they could see if the bird would perform with an audience. We all wanted to see if the bird we helped “train” was in the show.

When we arrived for Flights of Wonder it wasn’t quite show time yet. There was a CM in front answering questions about the owl she had on display.
213.jpg

We finally made it into the show. Even though the story line is a little cheesy after seeing the show a couple of times, we still enjoy watching the birds perform.
221.jpg

The Snowy Owl
226.jpg

Knowing the show a little better, I wanted to try and get a few “action shots.” Not the best efforts, but I’ve seen worse (like in my folder of pictures from this show).
227.jpg

231.jpg

I’m pretty sure this is the same Tour Guide we’ve seen each time we’ve watched this show, although I think I’ve seen pictures of different ones.
233.jpg

No bird show is complete without the American Eagle!
234.jpg

Some of the more colorful birds……..
239.jpg

241.jpg

We enjoyed watching this show again. I can’t believe Jonathan was excited to see it again when he had just watched it before we headed to the Safari, but he said he really enjoyed it and had been all for going back.

After the show we headed back to Expedition Everest so Alison could ride for the first time. It was time to use up some of the FPs we had gotten earlier in the day.

245.jpg

After riding EE again I wanted to show the family the Tree of Life Trail and the Character Christmas trees in Camp Minnie Mickey, especially since there was one I didn't have time to get pictures of earlier in the day. Everyone was excited to see what I wanted to show them except Jonathan. He wanted to hang around and ride Everest and other rides some more, so we told him to stay behind and have fun, but make sure he met us on time at Yak & Yeti for our dinner ADR.

Answers sent to you by PM my friend.

I hope the trip to get the scouts went well.

That was one evil looking owl! It had demon eyes!
I need to post some more of those pictures. Lots of "demon eyes" and some looks on the CMs face that I'm sure she would enjoy me posting. :rotfl2:

Surprised since you were one of the stars of this update. You DID get two bonus points for being so close......
The Primevil Whirl "Older than Dirt " is however a good description of the senior member of this group!!!:lmao:
You know I wouldn't pick on you like that if I didn't love you my friend :lovestruc ..............and you weren't actually that old! :rotfl:
Boo only 3 out of 8 :headache:
I know! With our visit so close you need to get in a little better synch with me!!!
Answers sent to you by PM my friend.

Like I posted on FB; I survived, I didn't kill anyone, and we got them all back home safely. That has to be at least considered success!!! :goodvibes

Did better this round! :woohoo:

I love Primevel Whirl - haven't been on it for awhile though. Danny won't ride it (won't ride the teacups either - can't handle spinning rides). On our "bonus" trips I don't go to Animal Kingdom. And on our family trips, especially the last couple years, the boys take off and do their own thing most of the time. I think it's supposed to be closed during this trip so I will miss it again. :headache:

I need to take the time and watch the Bird show again. We've only seen it once and that was several years ago.

Finally got my #11 answers in to you.

My intention was to get them to you this morning but as you can see that did not happen.

Got started on a project and well, the day got a way from me.

How was I the Star , other than being compared to Father Time , did I miss any comparison to the Yeti, or a Wise Old Owl in the Bird Show:confused3:lmao::lmao: but don't you fret my friend .. my imagination worked overtime in a couple of answers to #11:lmao::lmao::lmao:
