This snow storm is on my last nerve. Our flight was cancelled on Wed and can't be rescheduled until Saturday and we can only extend one day. We also are flying into Tampa instead of Orlando. So the drive to Vero will stink. We cancelled our 1 night at Disney and they gave us a full refund due to the circumstances. DVC Vero was able to push our reservation one day later and stay one day later. If we can't get out earlier I need to cancel another day.

But the rental car company doesn't really care about the snow etc and the rental will cost us $400 instead of $200 and for less time. Ugh!

After the whole beach replenishment thing at Vero and getting some days switched to WDW I thought okay its gonna be a good trip. Then the snow storm. We picked this weekend so our daughter would only miss two days of school. Bitter I'm stuck here in the snow and not in Florida with our friends from England.:headache:

Rant off!

I feel your pain. We are supposed to be at BWVs right now and then heading to VB on Saturday. Our flight was switched to really late Sunday night and then we have to drive to VB. I would have cancelled but my sister-in-laws and in-laws are all meeting us there. I am sick of snow! On the positive side Disney was able to switch our reservations so we have somewhere to stay. I was afraid they wouldn't be able to. Anyway, have a wonderful vacation. I hope it's nice and hot there for us!

You might be caught in the trap where 5 days is more expensive than one week. If I were you, I'd try one of the sites where you bid on the car at this point. With only days to go, you might be able to get it for the original rate or less...just a thought. :)

Good luck and hope you have a great trip anyways!

We were suppose to be in WDW 1 day and Vero for 5 days but with the Beach replenishment they were able to move us to WDW for a day and extend another day. I hope for good weather too. Now it looks like 50 - 60's. We are meeting our friends from England or I would reschedule for Spring Break.

Only good thing is they are flying us first class! I am still looking to fly Friday if possible. I am going to call again today and see what our standby chances are....

We are in Vero Sat until Monday am and then off to Saratoga Springs until 2/17 maybe the 18th if we add another day.

I know we should be lucky to afford a short vacation. But I keep thinkin I am sittin here in the snow and could be at my favorite place!:cloud9:

Have a great vacation too and I hope it gets warm! We'll anything is warmer then freezing on the east coast.

Thanks I didn't even think of that. I will bid today and see what happens.

If your flying into Tampa and returning the rental car to Orlando you have gone into a one way rate is much higher than picking up the car and returning to the same location. Just letting you know.

try priceline, we did it a few weeks ago for WDW and got a full size car for $12/day!!!! Super deal!In the end we got a xterra!

I feel for you we get those crapy storms up here all the time, hope things work out for u in the end.

I hate to tell y'all but you *up* there aren't the only ones getting snow storms this winter.
Texas and the south are both getting snow now and through tomorrow, including the FLORIDA panhandle. Said between 4-7 inches. :scared1:

Sorry about your trip OP. Have fun whatever you do!

Florida rental car companies do not charge one way fee's if you are dropping the car off at another Florida location. They only charge a one way fee if you take the car out of state.
On my rental 2 weeks ago I scored a better rate by extended my rental by 2 hours making it a five day rental which was cheaper than the 4 day rental and using the $25 off rental coupon.

Sorry not true. It is more to pick up at one location and drop off at another even if in the same state. Believe me I should know since I have ALOT of experience with this!!!! For example if you had a car reservation where you originally flying into Orlando and then returning to Orlando but then had to fly into let's say Tampa but still return to Orlando that will MOST definitely change the rate and quite significantly. People don't understand that and that is why I was explaining to the OP her rate increase....

The one-way rental apparently varies from agency to agency and even based on inventory.
Last year we rented in Orlando and dropped off in Tampa. At the time we rented, there was no drop off fee. As the date drew closer, I noticed a $25.00 drop-off fee (same agency). As the date got even closer, the drop-off fee increased to $50.00.
I asked why at the rental agency ( I was double checking that the fee was not going to be added to our rate) and they explained to me it all depends on inventory. As the number of available cars decreased, they began charging the fee.

While I was making the original reservation, I noticed that some of the agencies were charging a drop off fee and some weren't.

In the past, that was never true in Florida. I've never had a drop off fee in that state like most others. It may depend on the rental car company or something may have changed.
