The 3-5 inches we are supposed to get is just starting--for some unknown reason (not one flake on the ground yet!) the school district where I live went right to CLOSED--I have to leave in 5 min. because I don't even have a delay.
I am trying to figure if DH should take the kids to my parents or let them stay here with DD#1 watching--she babysits but hasn't all day before--but if there is a lot of snow at 3PM I don't want to have to go to my mom's first because it is a longer drive.

I didn't look look at the delays/closing list yet. The cold precipitation was just starting when I got in the shower - light, wet, not yet snow.

Meals on Wheels has already cancelled deliveries for today. It's not supposed to snow until mid-afternoon.

Its not predicted to start here until eartly afternoon and you should see the list of schools that already have early dismissal. I feel old when I think we went to school with inches on the ground and those chains on the busses. Now that is an unforrgetabble sound.

Nothing has closed in this area, the snow should start in about 1 hour and be really heavy by the time the kids get out of school. I'm debating on whether or not I should go into work late and pick the kids up so they are not stuck on the busses.

Well 10 min. on the way to work we got a 2 hour delay so I came back home. I don't have to leave until 9. It is snowing now, light to moderate and blowing sideways. I did go top off my gas tank because it's supposed to go up 30 cents a gallon later.
Kids are sleeping now. DH and I are going to make a decision on Kelly(dd#1) watching them or parents watching them in an hour or so.

I hate days like this. :( The snow started about 5 minutes after the elem kids got on the bus here. Within 20 min, the roads were bad.

The forecast is for it to be heaviest between 11 & 2 . . . . but if it gets heavier than it is right now, we'll be in bad shape! Going on past experience, they probably won't send the kids home early. I hope they at least cancel PM kindergarten.

Well they finally closed my own district about 8:30 so now I can just stay home and watch the kids (and work on those 108 kindergarten boys soccer registrations and put them on teams!).
DH would NOT take me out for breakfast before he left for work.:( he never gets "snow days" in remodeling.
Cancelling PM K was one of my concerns if the kids did have school--if that had happened I'd have to come home, get the other 2 and then go get DS at my mom's. Oh well, it all worked out in the end. Still snowing lightly, blowing around, don't know if it's even bad enough to cancel but like piratesmate they say it will be worst in the early afternoon.

I'm glad everything worked out for you, Robin - well, with the exception of getting taken out for breakfast! ;)

I know cancelling PM K is really tough on working parents & understand they don't like to do it. However, they're the ones who seem to get the most scared. When DD was in 4th the district waited too long to close early. By the time they finally got the buses to the elem schools, it was after 6PM. An awful lot of the kids were crying.

DD got home that night at 7:00 - DH & I were stuck on the turnpike for 3 hours & only got here about 5min before she did.

It started here last night but I still have school...they never cancel college and I hate walking in snow!

None of the public schools around here are closed or delayed.

It looks like the annual St Patrick's Day storm has hit here too! Yuck! It's been snowing steadily and we already have a few inches. No school closings or delays!
